Chickens will keep bugs at bay! Chicken manure is a pain ,but I would definitely have chickens in Costa Rica! I noticed you built your house out of cement and steel so the termites don't eat you to the ground! I live in the Northeast United States and put up with the cold, but the worst thing I have to put up with is Yellow jackets and whiteface hornets! No poisonous spiders or snakes on my property! I live in a rural area! Bears,Bobcats,Coyotes are here! I was a well driller and water expert until I retired! I have only been to Costa Rica once in 2018! I did enjoy my time there at the RIU!

Thanks and I agree...Chicken can be great at keeping a lot of the bugs out...keep the grass well manicured helps a LOT here too!
As for my house....no concrete. Only metal and some concrete bricks for the patio.
But, as a side note...because I am so high up...there are nearly NO termites here. Most of Costa Rica has a big problem with termites, but I have not seen a single termite or termite nest up here where I am located.
