I'm not a fan of this mold, but this version makes the other ones so bland in comparison. The Hasbro Leader for the TLK line looked so dusty, and the chrome was removed! I like how this turned out, and in some ways, you can see this as a way to wash away the bad taste that El Cid had in your mouth.
One detail you missed is that Calibur Prime is a retooling of Takara's own Armor Knight Optimus Prime. Armor Knight Optimus Prime was the first AOE Leader Prime mold to get the movie accurate retooling on his chest, legs, head, arms, etc. It wasn't until The Last Knight that Calibur Prime came out, with FINALLY the removable back wheels. Also, fun fact: the Calibur's Shield is based on DOTM Prime's shield.

I was pretty happy with the Voyager version and the 3rd Party one I've heard horror stories about, but now I really wanna pick up this version. Takara just does such an awesome job on the leader classes and making improvements.
When I can afford this guy, Im gonna look into a smaller shield. As much as I dig the way they handled the shield/back of truck, it is abit big for Prime (imo)
I was REALLY tempted to get this guy.........until I saw some reviews on Amazon. Apparently, most people have had issues with the plastic on this guy being very brittle. Ultimately, I went with Armor Knight Optimus. Have you ever had this kind of trouble with your Prime?

That is definitely a better Optimus Prime then what we got here in the states but I think I'm going to get rid of my older movie stuff and continue with this studio series because my goodness is kicking ass you should take a look at the blackout
The thumbs on mine are really loose. So if I have him hold the weapons, he'll drop them off as I move the hands around. And the shield is really loose too when I mount on the back of Prime.
Haze Shiro Mine are actually a bit too tight, I have to really wedge the weapons in. Might be a copy by copy issue. Have you tried tightening the joint? I use clear nail polish to tighten loose joints, has worked well for me over the years. Thanks for watching!

I would not like parts forming if it just sits somewhere when a transformer toy is in robot mode. It if it’s parts forming and it doe something like in this case it’s really good
I've gotta say, I'm really tempted to pick this one up. The awesome paint job, great accessories, and shield that hides itself well look very much to be worth the price. My only concern here would be the shield's heaviness. Also, wasn't there actually an appearance of this mold (meaning, the one with the shield that forms part of the cab) in the U.S.? I only saw it once and it was inferior to this one of course, but I think it actually did show up in a few stores at some point.
Hey Bert love the vids! I know Im chiming in here a little late but I recently picked this guy up and noticed some minor paint flaws on the shield. Is this something to be expected from figure to figure or should I return it because it should be flawless? Anyone who could answer this for me I would greatly appreciate your input. Abel Abner It really depends.... case by case. Most of the time there will be some scratch or paint app flaw somewhere on just about any figure you buy. I weigh it on whether it's something I can live with or fix myself. The first Animated Leader Ultra Magnus I bought had a scratch across his chest so bad I definitely took him back. Hope that helps.
