How do you follow or top that, you ask? Simple: you don't. :D Case in point, tons of huge artists played at Live Aid in 1985 but Queen's five-song set is basically all anyone ever remembers or talks about. Poor David Bowie had to go up next.
Its not fake its a very common practice for released live performances. Google it if you don't believe me. They clean up the audio and overdub certain parts they think could be improved. You can easily pick out the overdubs in this, Best way to notice is when the audio doesn't quite sync up. Rogers vocals are all overdubbed as well as Brian's. Freddy's big "ooooooh" during the climax is overdubbed. Guitar solo's are often overdubbed too. Its not a bad thing, It happens on every live performance that's released.
Ok, let me clarify, 7.04 hz is NOT possible for a human unless they do a vibrato. If you are talking 7 vibratos per second, fine. But in music 7 hz would be extremely hard to hear. It would be more a feeling. Its a speaker vibrating 7 times a second. The usual range of hearing of a normal person is 20-40 hz to about 16-18 kHz. I dont want to be pedantic, but just clarifying. If you want to try your range of hearing, there are plenty of youtube videos that will test your range (Depending on your speakers, of course).
M. M. Monroe Thank you for telling him!! Obviously he’s not a true Queen fan. Along with the sound system, they were the first band to have the huge light shows as well. Their design!! People can try to tear them down all they want but Queen is and always will be the best! These poor young people with what they think is music today just have no real clue!!
Saw Queen twice in the late 70's in Kansas City ... I was just a teenager then. The concerts were great but I didn't appreciate or realize the greatness I was witnessing.
Funny when you talked about filling up Madison Square Garden! These guys had crowds of 300,000 at times on their tours in South America. I saw Queen at the Boston Garden in 1980, and paid $10.50 for the privilege! That was pretty much the standard cost for a concert ticket back in those days. I paid $12.65 to see The Who and The Clash on the same bill at Shea Stadium in 1982. I might be old, but I got to see all the COOL bands live......for less than $20.00 per gig!
Did you know that Queen, today, with Adam Lambert will be at MSG this coming summer ? The "cheaper " floor seats are $1000.00! I recently, had floor seats to "see" the"Eagles" who were not visible because of the people in front of me standing up with phones over their heads! The sound was great, but hardly got a glimpse of the band! Now, if Freddie were still with us, I'd work overtime to get front row seats , ,( nothing against Adam Lambert- he is great)but, without Freddie, it's not worth it! May Queen keep rocking ,along with the spirit of the magnificent Freddie Mercury!
Ever seen def leopard? Still the only concert I've really been to. (I was like 6 and am now 24) tea party opened. One of the best times I've had with my amazing step father
I'm going through, in order, each of your Queen reactions. It absolutely makes me joyful to see someone who truly respects the talent discover Freddie and the guys. They are flawless......all four are integral contributors and without each leg of the table, it falls. The four of them together are perfection. Your insight and understanding is making this a beautiful experience for me. Thank you and God bless!
Love this reaction! They sound so much better live! You should react to their performance at Live Aid! It is 20 min of amazing! One of my favorite performances by them.... all their performances are amazing 😃

I love seeing the single tear rolling down Freddie's left cheek near the end of the song... have a look... Freddie sang with his whole being and soul... the absolute BEST FRONTMAN, voice and group EVER!! MarcMartel is a real close second on voice but Freddie will never be replaced -ever Tear around 10 min mark
Jenn Smith , I would have loved to wipe that tear and tell him, “I’m here, I’m your Somebody To Love, Freddie...”❤️ I’m deeply in love with this guy. Such extraordinary, out of this world talent..
You need to watch them play at live aid! Best performance ever done. It will go down in history. Also, see the crowd react even though it wasn’t a Queen concert. So amazing!
I honestly think Freddy is better live than studio by far he's the best live performer to have ever hit our ears .. live aid, live at Wembley 86 and on and on and on...
A voice so pure w/such amazing range. He sounds better live than on the record which usually never happens. You get to witness greatness @ it's finest when you watch Freddie. I miss him! 💔🙏💔🙏💔
This is the best Live version of this song. Freddie and Roger are singing their hearts out and everyone’s giving a lot on their respected instruments! Did you see the tear going down Freddie’s face near the end? He’s that into it!
Great reaction! I was lucky to see them live in 1980, Yes I am a cool grandma. He wore Adidas wrestler shoes. They were the best live band ever....I saw all of the great ones back in the day!
This band was on the road hundreds of days per year, singing the same songs over and over. Each performance was given like this was the ONLY performance. They gave all they had each city, each concert, each time to make the audience feel like they only cared about them. This song is a great example of their natural talents. Thank you so much for loving it like you do!
yup, back then that was all analogue no playback no autotune. All sounds coming from instruments and voices, 100% realtime. Back in those days, on stage the singers had it or they didn’t. Queen always had it.
This is my favorite rendition of this song. In fact, I like this MORE than the record. The power, the love, the passion! Might not as be as high, but holy crap that POWER!!!!
My first concert was in 1977 or 1978, can’t remember, was at MSG, NYC. I never heard a live band sound so much like their recordings. Thanks so much for bringing Queen back. My boys love Queen. They had no choice. While I would commute on the A Train to NYC, I would put headphones on my pregnant belly.
You want to see a crowd?....see Live Aid July 13, 1985! The. Best. Performance. Ever. Loved your review. Freddie is totally focused and absolutely loves being on stage.
My all time, number one, favorite Queen song! I am LOVING all your Queen reaction videos! I have had the same "IN ABSOLUTE AWE" reactions to Freddie and Queen as well since watching Bohemian Rhapsody and immersing myself in all things Queen! So many hits, so much talent, so many genres crossed! There will never be another Freddie...I SO wish I could have seen him live!
Greatest frontman and vocals in the history of music IMO. People don’t realize the amount of music and hits that queen put out!! Freddie was one bad dude who could literally do it all.
Noticed your comment about the video quality even though it is from 1981. The reason the quality is so good is that this concert was filmed on 70mm film. A lot of films prior to the 1960s were filmed on 70mm, but the industry transitioned down to 35mm for expense reasons. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but 70mm film is basically the equivalent of up to 18K in today’s digital.
If you want to see a crowd loving Queen, do the Wembley Stadium "Love of my Life" or the "Love of My Life" in Brazil where they chant for Brian May. Both are amazing.
update - saw over to the right you did the original video - good, I'll watch that next. Don't get too hung up on the clothes, there's a video where he's barefoot, short shorts and a bandana around his neck shirtless. I think it's the closest he could be to being naked! LOL Bands in the 70/80 were used to stadium concerts as the norm. Wembly was always around 72,000m Rio was 100-150,000 and their last concert in the UK was to 200,000 people. Musicians like Freddie compared to even the hottest acts of today - no comparison because nowadays they use synthesizers and other tricks. Not that Freddie's era didn't begin to play with that - but certainly the vocal strength was more intense for the mic quality difference 40 years ago.
Yes you are right! It is actually the same as this one, 1981 Montreal and the song to see it is, "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions". Barefoot, short shorts and a bandana but getting involved with the crowd and closing out their show like they usually did with that combo. LOVE IT!!
How do you think the bands felt that had to come behind them when they played live aid 1985...lol They blew everyone away with their performance, people thought they were coming in as "has beens" because they were a band out of the 70's and they stole the show! If you haven't watched their 20 minute time on stage, check it out, it is worth it! They were the best, and Freddie will forever be a vocal legend! Great vid reaction!!
I'm a life-long Queen/Freddie "devotee" (the journey started from 1991, when I's 11 & heard for the first time "I Want To Break Free"), and I'm utterly delighted with your reaction. I hope you'd listen to more Queen tracks forth & trust me, you won't go without being mesmerized almost always. Anyway, this's the first time I've seen your channel/video, and you got a new subs here, mate. Cheers with much love.
do LIVE AT LIVE AID WEMBLEY 1985 ! you´ll be just amazed WHAT happens there. you did NOT see anything like that before - 100.000 people in the palm of his hand. believe us! you haven´t seen before what he does with the audience in song 2 and 3.
As someone that grew up listening to and loving Queen and Freddie Mercury, I absolutely love that he is still blowing peoples minds all these years after he passed. RIP Mr. Farenheit much love and respect. I loved your reaction 😀
"Queen headlined two nights of the 10-day Rock In Rio festival in 1985, the biggest music festival in history to date. Also headlining two nights each were AC/DC, Yes, and Rod Stewart. Queen played on January 11 and 18, but they hit the stage around 2am each night, technically dating the performances the 12th and 19th respectively. They set a record for paying attendance, playing to 250,000 people each night - the biggest audiences they would ever play for. Some sources say the band played to as many as 350,000 (or even 470,000) on the first night." queenlive.ca/queen/85-01-12.htm
I'm so glad you fully appreciate the talent and skill required to be able to perform with such power, passion and perfection!!!! They held nothing back when they shined on stage!
My other favorite live performance "Save Me" LIVE from this same concert, Montreal '81!! Freddie's vocals are OFF THE HOOK with that one!!!!! Please do that one!!
Love the fact you respond excited to their performance... No technical people talking in his ear he sings from the heart and the love if every song ... No ear buds back then... Performers now can't do anything without technical support...
Great reactions to Queen, i like the way you bring up info about the band and song before reacting , you should definitely watch Queen at Live Aid Wembley Stadium in London 1985, imo one of the best rock bands ever, also more of their songs like, Under pressure with David Bowie, Radio GaGa, We are the champions, Too much love will kill you, Kind of magic, Who wants to live forever, Show must go on, One vision and its a hard life, etc...should also react to more UK rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Police, The who, Rolling Stones, etc, keep up the great work! one of the best reactors on youtube.
Best memory that I will never forget was going to a QUEEN concert when I was quite young. Live Aid was AMAZING, my uncle took me to both concerts. I have only been to about 10 concerts since then, and only one sounded as good in concert as he did on the record. If you haven't reacted to Live Aid you should.
Great reaction bruh. Queen is really something special. Best Rock band cos they had it all. And they could put on a show. And this video here looks like it's been shot yesterday. Great quality! Gives the band respect! 😃 The only one with an awesome voice like Freddie was Roy Orbison ("The Crowd", "Running Scared", "It's Over","House Without Windows", "No One Will Ever Know") 😃
The Beatles were all big Orbison fans, but when he opened for them once he went back out for multiple encores. Legend has it that on the 7th encore John and George had to grab Orbison and say that's enough tonight! (Bet you also enjoy George Harrison and Orbison in The Traveling Wilburys.)
Queen - We Will Rock You (Live at Rock In Rio 1985) if you really want to see the crowd that Queen commanded - over 250,000 people EACH night for two nights.
@@egretta8321 wtf, its 2,87€ ... Not a single beer is that expensive in Germany. Cheap beer costs about 0,18 Australian dollars (0,5 liters). The most expensive i know its about 1 Australian dollar (not even german beer).
A beer discussion 😀. There are very heavy alcohol taxes in Australia hence the price. Probably the most popular (and cheapest) is VB (Victorian Bitter) but there are also a lot of craft beers here. But I do like a Heineken now and then.
Matthews family fan since day 1,love him and his fam... I'm really glad that they made it. Honest people love them and always rewatch reactions ❤️❤️❤️❤️
As everyone else has said HIGHLY recommend their live aid set but also love of my life at Wembley ‘86 and who wants to live forever in Budapest are amazing songs that are slower but really really show off his vocal talent!
Your comment about being "able to perform live what you can do in the studio" is spot on. You're right. ANYONE can sound good in the studio. To do it "live" is a whole other level of talent.
Fortunately, Queen used actual film cameras as apposed to video tape for this performance. You don't have to worry about video artifacts and interlacing to remaster the quality.
If you want to see them and a lot of great artists performing during the day in of tons of people you need to watch any of the live aid 1985 performances. There was a sea of people and every act that went on is phenomenal.
I appreciate and love your soul even more now!!! This wonderful concert in my home town, Montreal Quebec!!! You have great taste!! Heineken is not beer! 😉
This concert was one of the few Queen products that the band didn’t own the rights to, and it was released in the 80’s under the title “We Will Rock You” which was confusing. After Queen got the rights back, they remastered it and put it back out but the only footage they didn’t have was performances of “Flash’s Theme” and “The Hero”, although they did still have the audio recordings of those two songs.
I was at their live concert at Madison Square Garden in 1979. I've been to over 150 various events at the Garden in my life. That was the only time I feared the garden would cave in from crowd evolvement. It was truly incredible. I still have the concert program!
No playback
No autotune
All bandmembers play an instrument
All of them can sing
No almost naked dancers
This is real music and true TALENT 😊😊😊❤❤❤
It's a beautiful thing, music that is made with hard work, heart and soul :D
Yeah, plus Brian May plays the piano too, John Deacon plays piano too, and Freddie can play the guitar too, and as a pianist is phenomenal.
But, Queen uses overdubs on ALL live recordings. All of them. Look it up.
@Anna Morgan I know 😊
@Anna Morgan this concert is overdubbed as well vocally.

Freddies voice at 7.04 hz, unheard of, 4 full octaves!
Amazing what you can do with overdubs eh?
@@michaeljohnson6510 You think it's fake? Haha.
Wow
I saw Van Halen in 1982and I remember the ticket was 10.00. Great times!!
So so so lucky
Makes me cry..sends shivers down my spine..a lyrical orgasm...Only Freddie Mercury can do this!!!!
I swear that at some points of this performance they sound better than the album! One of the greatest live bands ever!
I second this. Live Aid is an incredible performance and everyone should see it.
I third this statement.
Here is the link for highest quality live aid clips, ruclips.net/channel/UCUAVzSGkkTa-IoMx_x1XK4Qfeatured?disable_polymer=1
The organisers of live aid thought Queen were "past their best" and sandwiched them between two of the biggest bands at the time, U2 and The Who. U2 came out with an amazing set with grandmaster level crowd control. And then Freddie came out and showed everyone who true royalty was, 22 minutes of glory and a crowd Worshipping Freddies sweaty glistening mustache.
For a true education on great music from this era, follow the link above and watch every song from 7:19pm onwards (organised by time on live aid channel.)
Honestly I would love to see a three hour reaction vid from you but if not theres gotta be at least an hour and a half worth of clips on this link.
I fourth this. I don't know whether it was Elton john or David Bowie but after Live Aid one of them said to Queen how am I suppose to follow that!
Live Aid set is the best live performance of all time. Nobody has ever performed better in my opinion 😁
I think it was Bowie, dont google it trust me.
Freddie Mercury and all of Queen are absolute legends!
I love seeing the single tear rolling down Freddie's left cheek near the end of the song... have a look... Freddie sang with his whole being and soul... the absolute BEST FRONTMAN, voice and group EVER!! MarcMartel is a real close second on voice but Freddie will never be replaced -ever
Tear around 10 min mark
Jenn Smith , I would have loved to wipe that tear and tell him, “I’m here, I’m your Somebody To Love, Freddie...”❤️ I’m deeply in love with this guy. Such extraordinary, out of this world talent..
I JUST noticed that! Awww.
MarcMartel has powerful vocals but lacks the passionate soul charisma Freddie brought to his performances.
Jenn Smith - I believe that tear was sweat. That is not to say that he was without soul and put everything into his performance.
Jenn Smith there Are no words ❤️‼️‼️❤️❤️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
You need to watch them play at live aid! Best performance ever done. It will go down in history. Also, see the crowd react even though it wasn’t a Queen concert. So amazing!
I honestly think Freddy is better live than studio by far he's the best live performer to have ever hit our ears .. live aid, live at Wembley 86 and on and on and on...
A voice so pure w/such amazing range. He sounds better live than on the record which usually never happens. You get to witness greatness @ it's finest when you watch Freddie. I miss him! 💔🙏💔🙏💔
Freddie is free now, and we're all poorer for it. RIP, Freddie, and thank you.
Gives me chills every time! My absolute favorite Queen song. Freddie has such an amazing voice.
2:17 - Mr. Matthews, meet Mr. Mercury - the greatest live performer you will ever see.
This is the best Live version of this song. Freddie and Roger are singing their hearts out and everyone’s giving a lot on their respected instruments! Did you see the tear going down Freddie’s face near the end? He’s that into it!
I think it's safe to say, Freddie was pleased with the performance at the end. He knew that they'd absolutely smashed it!
U should watch george Michael's version of this it's crazy. The original queen members said it was the best anyone had done.
Every time I hear Freddie sing, I am reminded as to why I chose him as my all-time favorite singer. He was just the best ! Miss him all the time
This is my favorite rendition of this song.
Queen is a legendary band. Enough said.
LOVE IT!!
That's when music was excellent music! Nobody does it better than Queen and Freddie Mercury ♥️
He could of come out there with his bathrobe on and still would be great!
You don't follow Queen you pack up and go home.
LOVE this performance and your reaction. The entire Montreal 81 show is 🔥🔥🔥 Live Aid 85 is also a must-see.
Lara in 1985 he had a cold and you can tell compare to his performance in mtl. Anyway better voice ever !
One of biggest crowd for Queen, Rio in Brazil, more than 200,000 of you see the video its literally a sea of people singing with Freddie!
Fam, there will never be another Freddie Mercury....He was ONE OF A KIND!!!!! Queen reactions never get old!!!!! XO
Freddie Mercury, Barcelona Opera performance. One of his best performances and my personal favorite.
do LIVE AT LIVE AID WEMBLEY 1985 ! you´ll be just amazed WHAT happens there. you did NOT see anything like that before - 100.000 people in the palm of his hand. believe us! you haven´t seen before what he does with the audience in song 2 and 3.
And a billion people watching around the world
Calm down geez 😂
Of course, their biggest audience was Live Aid.
It isn't even the best Save Me. Not even top 5 😎
Love the fact you respond excited to their performance... No technical people talking in his ear he sings from the heart and the love if every song ... No ear buds back then... Performers now can't do anything without technical support...
Freddie liked wearing Adidas boxing shoes :)
It was a clone thing
@Teo Torriatte yes exactly. He won trophies for it in school. He also played tennis, was a long distance runner and table tennis champion.
Brian always wore clogs. Still does today. Never wore anything else.
These were adidas hercules, pretty simular to samba, wich i have :D
He used to be a boxer
Thank you for showing the performers on the big screen. This showed off all the band members especially the phenomenal drumming!
Fully agreed 💯
Freddie was a performer as long as one of the very best singers ever! . Wow! The best of the best!!!
Queen - We Will Rock You (Live at Rock In Rio 1985) if you really want to see the crowd that Queen commanded - over 250,000 people EACH night for two nights.
I was blessed to see Queen in the late 70s and there will never be another performer like Freddie.
Heineken is expensive. Your Dad had great taste! I've always been so obsessed with Freddie and Queen 😍
Expensive ? 69cents (Euro) in Europe, its about 85 cents (Dollar)... Nothing special.
@@christianwendt3198 so cheap! Here in Australia about AUS$4.50 a can.
@@egretta8321 wtf, its 2,87€ ... Not a single beer is that expensive in Germany. Cheap beer costs about 0,18 Australian dollars (0,5 liters). The most expensive i know its about 1 Australian dollar (not even german beer).
For most Dutch people Heineken taste like horse pee, there are better beers in the Netherlands
Bro please react to the 85 live aid performance, absolutely amazing!
They filled Wembly stadium during Live Aid. You should check that performance out you will be in awe.
Was thinking just the same about the quality of the video for that year
Fortunately, Queen used actual film cameras as apposed to video tape for this performance. You don't have to worry about video artifacts and interlacing to remaster the quality.
Do "Who wants to live forever" and "Show must go on"
One of the best songs of all time and it was written and performed by one of the GREATEST musical band of all time!!
I know you know WE WILL ROCK YOU and WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
If you want to see them and a lot of great artists performing during the day in of tons of people you need to watch any of the live aid 1985 performances. There was a sea of people and every act that went on is phenomenal.
By this point Queen was opening for nobody
They had IRON MAIDEN opening for them... you know you got it Made when Maiden is your opening act.
I love seeing great talented people like this being recognized and appreciated to this day
"How do you top this" - you can't.
And he's doing some of that amazing singing sitting down. That's way harder.
I appreciate and love your soul even more now!!! This wonderful concert in my home town, Montreal Quebec!!! You have great taste!! Heineken is not beer! 😉
Home boy got a powerful voice
This concert was one of the few Queen products that the band didn’t own the rights to, and it was released in the 80’s under the title “We Will Rock You” which was confusing. After Queen got the rights back, they remastered it and put it back out but the only footage they didn’t have was performances of “Flash’s Theme” and “The Hero”, although they did still have the audio recordings of those two songs.
Madison Square Garden?? LOL! Queen overflowed Hyde Park with more than 100K people one time NOT a joke. Live Aid was about 73K.
Wembley 1986 was about 90k people, knebworth park 1986 the last live concert Freddie ever did, estimated around 150-200k people...
Love of my life - Wembley. Best sunset moment.
freddie, brian, john and roger, the best and most talented mucisians every xx
You wanna see a crowd?
Wembley 86’ Magic tour
*WATCH IT*
You have great tastes.
Freddie Mercury doesn't need autotune. He created it
Great reaction! You can do Queen “Under Pressure”
Yes! And please do it just like you did Somebody to Love! First studio, then live
I was at their live concert at Madison Square Garden in 1979. I've been to over 150 various events at the Garden in my life. That was the only time I feared the garden would cave in from crowd evolvement. It was truly incredible. I still have the concert program!
You should watch their live aid performance or under pressure live . To get a good audience reaction and responses
