    This video was very helpful. I suffer from a rare disease that dehydrates me. So about every 2 months or so, I have to go into the hospital & get an IV. Staying hydrated is literally a chore for me & the “Liquid IV” has been helping me cope with my situations better than most electrolyte drinks. I really appreciate this video, thanks ✌🏾

    I think it is important to mention the difference between everyday electrolyte drinks (such as these, BPN electrolytes, traditional nuun, etc) and liquid endurance fuels (such as most gatorades, tailwind, G1M, nuun endurance, etc). In an electrolyte drink, you'd be looking for products that support overall hydration (electrolytes, mainly sodium) without the added carbs/calories, while endurance fuels are focused on replenishing both glycogen stores (carbs) as well as electrolytes to support higher intensity sports and activities. A video like this comparing some endurance fuels could be fun!

    Been using all of the flavors of Liquid I.V. for 5 or 6yrs. Use it year round, on the both multiple hour mtb rides, and multi-hour trail runs. It's also what we use on our annual R2R runs and Rim2River runs in the Grand Canyon. I add 2 magnesium pills (Magnesium Lysinate), broken in half, to a 21oz Camelbak soft flask, and for the big runs or rides, I add a tiny B complex pill. Previously used Cytomax for probably 10yrs until they change the formula. Have also tried Tail Wind, and Genius Electrolytes. I don't get people's distain for sugar being in a hydration mix. "You're" asking the body to do some sort of strenuous work, it needs what it needs at the cellular level, both for muscle function, and brain function. Fuel it!

    • @austinado16
      @austinado16 2 года назад +5

      @@jasoncapecod The key to magnesium supplementing, is using a high quality version. It's the low quality stuff that often gives digestion issues and diarrhea...so taking magnesium cures constipation really well. To answer your question, magnesium lysinate won't give you any issues and it will cure your leg cramps. It'll dull the flavor of the Liquid I.V., so be aware of that. But you're "fueling" as a tool for better performance, and not for "enjoyment of a beverage" so it shouldn't matter. I buy "Doctor's Best" brand from Ama z0n, but that doesn't mean it's the best choice for you. I take it as a supplement, plus use it in the electrolyte mix. You can learn more about magnesium and why it's so crucial, why so many people are deficient in it, and what that causes, on Dr. Carolyn Dean's website.

      @@jasoncapecod You're welcome. I hope you see improvement in the leg cramps. I went through a phase in 2019 where I was getting them really badly on our long runs. It was murder. Like; be stopped on the trail, not be able to move, let alone even be able to walk, and yet still have an hour or more of run time to get back to the car. I changed to liquid IV, GU Roctane, and started eating more avocados (high in potassium). Haven't had any since. I also keep my calcium intake low, and from plants only. I stopped eating dairy in 2012, including buying foods that have it in as an ingredient. Quite a positive change in health, in about a month or so after stopping dairy.

      You should try drinking 1/4 to 1/2 tsp pink Himalayan or Redmond Real Salt 20 min before you exercise. That’s going to cut down on your sweating, your heart doesn’t work as hard, and your body will stay cooler. We lose on average, 1/4 tsp salt per hour of sweat, so by pre-loading your blood with salt, you’re giving your body a rest. At the end of the hour, do another 1/4 tsp if you’re going to keep exercising. I’ve done this and it works. The info comes from Dr James DiNicolantonio, PhD Pharmacology and evidence based cardiac researcher.

    LMNT: Uses Maltrodextrin as a binding agent in their flavored packets:
    Maltodextrin can have several potential health risks, including:
    Blood sugar spikes
    Maltodextrin has a higher glycemic index (GI) than table sugar, which means it can cause blood sugar to spike shortly after eating. This can lead to a spike in insulin, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels.
    Gut bacteria balance
    Maltodextrin can reduce the number of good bacteria and increase the number of harmful bacteria in your gut. This can lead to intestinal damage and increase the risk of inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Maltodextrin can also suppress the growth of probiotics, which are important for immune system function.

    Thanks for your review. Very helpful! One thing I've noticed, is that electrolyte drinks with added B6 and B12 actually causes the kidneys to remove the extra B6/B12 and necessarily removes water in the urine. So, these drinks with B6/B12 can actually cause dehydration. One time, I drank a different electrolyte product supplemented with B6/b12 during a several hours desert hike. I drank a ton, but the more I drank the thirstier I got. And I could tell it was the B6/B12 because I was peeing the B vitamin yellow. What do you know about this or experienced this?

Since starting it however I’ve had a very bad stomach. Perhaps this is from the stevia as you mentioned. How long did it take for your upset stomach to go away from stevia? I haven’t tried liquid IV yet, but not sure if that is best with the sugars if I have 2 a day.

    I mostly use Kaged... However, I keep Liquid IV, Strawberry, around to go into my after the gym protein shake. It goes great with chocolate. I also use IV, one packet for my 24oz water bottle when I walk the golf course. For my twice a week cycling, it's Kaged.

    Liquid IV also uses the synthetic version of B12 called Cyanocobalamin that just so happens to be part CYANIDE! Look it up. I would rather they use methylcobalamin for their B12 which is the form found in nature.

    The sugar content is very important to me as I have blood sugar issues. LMNT is so salty. I’m just wondering if having that much salt is even helpful to my body. I do work out But I am 70 years old and don’t sweat that much. Mainly, I strength train just to keep bone density wondering if I should use this product even at all and just cut down the amount of it that I use in water would love your opinion I just bought their trial pack. Thanks for your video Karen.

    If a Stevia (natural) product has Erythritol (chemical) then it upsets my stomach always, and it gives me a headache, but Stevia has no noticeable effect on me whatsoever. Despite the huge price point difference in these, I really like LMNT better I like that there is magnesium included and no dextrose

    Daily Liquid IV user here. Not sure why there's so much sugar. Have been using one packet in two 32-ounce bottles of water along with a whole juiced lemon (zest and all) for over a year. Wondering whether using equal amounts of Liquid IV, Nuun and LMNT would work along with my lemon water.

    These little packet salt things are such a bad deal unless you only need one bottles worth at a time. If you want to use them in a 3 liter bladder while hiking the cost starts going crazy for what they tell you to use per liter. I find tub options like Re-Lyte Mix (another natural zero sugar electrolytes mix) and stuff to be a better option. It takes up less room in my bag, as well having 50-75 servings (depending on brand) in a small tub instead of all the packets. I don't understand why all the backpacking and hiking channels push LMNT or Liquid IV so hard when it doesn't make sense for packing in a bag or price per serving for long term use. I mean for runners LMNT and Liquid IV smaller size servings make sense but not for long distance hikers and backpackers.

    • @MattyIceBJJ
      @MattyIceBJJ 4 месяца назад

      Sort of yes. If you do heavy labor and heavy exercises most days of the week, adding in these packets is EXTREMELY beneficial. You lose a lot of sodium in outdoor manual labor heat and during exercise. Also you’re losing out on potassium, magnesium, several other electrolytes trying to keep your body up and going.
      If you work an office desk job, and exercise heavily afterwards, I don’t think you need these packets. Just eat a healthy diet with salt.

    I have recently switched to the Loquid IV from Drip Drop, and I am so glad I did it. The results I think are very good I just can't stand the taste of the lemon-lime personally it calls for the entire packet but it makes the water so sobring ⁵in flavor that is almost too much . In my opinion you could mix 1 stick with a gallon of water. I know they have other flavors that tastes much better this was just a discount box from Sam's Club and only had one flavor in it. I think it's a bit pricey but at Sam's Club you can get 30 of them for $25 which is a good deal compared to buying the smaller boxes

    Spiking insulin over and over again with sugar can and will lead to serious health issues that may not be immediately recognizable but will be further down the line... brain & kindney issues, hyperinsulinemia leading to obesity, a lot of health info needed to be considered in your comparison... might be something ppl need to study up on...
