    Of course I haven't read this bill. Marc Steiner says it took him 3 (three) days to read it. But as soon as I heard the part where lobbyists (re: corporate and foreign interests) are still able to put their money to work with the stipulation that they identify themselves with the contribution, I knew it was all meaningless.

      @Edward Jackson : You're not very good at writing, that's for sure. You wrote, " _It is shocking that they come to you claiming to tell you the to and yet they still lie to your face_ ". "the to" what? You wrote an incomplete sentence, making it seem like you never successfully passed a good course in English grammar. So, "the to" what? Also, who're you calling a liar? If you're meaning John Sarbanes, then you definitely would need to provide proof for your accusation. Until then, consider that you wrote ga«rbage. Learn to write and also learn to carefully THINK when you write, so to think about what you're writing. If it makes sense to you, then you seriously need some qualitative education.

    The public wants the two main parties to release their stranglehold on the apparatus of elections; the public wants the "two" party system to end and says we need a third party (at least) to have a seat at the table, rather than the two corporatist war parties alone. This bill does the opposite; *_it strengthens that stranglehold by raising the hurdles third parties must leap._* This bill *_is a Trojan horse;_* the provisions being advertised look great, but look that "gift" horse in the mouth and see what's inside.
    *_"Beware of Greeks bearing gifts."_*
    This guest sounds like a televangelist claiming that he's worried about your soul while trying to con you into sending him your Social Security check. Listen to the "concern" in his voice and listen closely. Then read (or re-read) the bill and see how it would make things even harder for the will of the American people to end the duopoly.
    This bill is indeed a power grab, but not for the Democrats; it's a power grab for both the Democrats and the Republicans, an attempt to keep the Green Party of the United States and the Libertarian Party both powerless, and to keep other third parties even more powerless than the GPUS and the Libertarian Party.

      @Giovanna Liviana What is the real need for parties? There is no need for them, if you get another party it will guard its place like the parties that came before them. Get rid of all the B.S. parties controlling the election. You can still have parties but not on the ballot! however, that will never happen as long as they stay entrenched as they are. ie. Kill one's self!

      I'm glad you realize there's no use in even talking about it.
      There *_are_* changes which are more likely, which are definitely more doable, and which would be improvements to the current situation. We often speak of James Madison's words in Federalist No. 10, "factions," as if he intended nothing but political parties, but, in actuality, every political party of any size has multiple factions within it. Perhaps the most pernicious faction in any political party is the one which is characterized by what I have named "partisan sectarianism." That attitude also exists among those who portray themselves as opposed to the very existence of political parties; for such persons, said opposition can be said to be their own political party's entire platform. Such persons even have a name for their political party, a banner around which to rally: "Independent."

    • @akobenadinkrahene2153
      @akobenadinkrahene2153 5 лет назад

      @@giovannaliviana505 And there you have hit on another problem which is voting not by any conviction but by party. Call it independent or green or whatever you like. Let them wear buttons. It's just as I said "more of the same." You will always get the government you deserve, (voting party lines is a lazy person's affair) which is why we are in this situation now. But as you have said and I agree "why even talk about it?" If you don't demand but just accept. It's a lot like voting for the lease of two evils. Nothing changes!

    I agree with the financing situation...the state of the union of '91 should be revisted. There should also be a 4th requirement added to the presidential requirements such as Moral-Ethics code of conduct as well as if you are an citizen of the usa you have that eligibility to vote regardless of imprisonment etc. #greenparty

    Forcing people to be registered is a bad idea. Ask people if they want to be registered. If they don't want to be, leave them alone. Don't nag them. The next step would be forcing them to vote. What the hell kind of society are people trying to create? Democracy includes the personal choice not to vote. Some people say to include a "no choice" answer to every choice on the ballot. That's so stupid. I can't express how stupid it is.

    We need these things but most importantly, we need real election. We need paper ballots counted by randomly selected citizens out in the open where it can be observed by the citizens of this country. No more corporate owned voting machines. We need a government that is truly of, by and for the people.
