Today in many temples in tamilnadu, Andra pradesh, Karnataka and kerala of which more than 200 temples i visited i have seen nagas worship wherein they represent the chakras inside the body raising up as two naga intertwine between the chakras, in top chakra, the main deity of the temple be it Lord Shiva or Lord Vishnu or Krishna etc is shown thereby representative of kundalini and serpent inside the human body awakening through the chakras present and by worship of Lord shivaSakthi and not about any king from outside or such kind of nonsense, this is well known in tamilnadu temples in communication with learned scholars.
