As someone studying Med with really less time for play or any leisure, watching you Splatt play these games is a jewel. I watch your daily uploads as part of my breaks. It feels like I'm playing it too already, lol. Keep up the daily uploads and I'll never fail to watch them! Cheers, mate!
Same I dont have time to check all the cool new indy games, but i check splatter every day for the indie games ^^
Vampire Survivors (and its spin offs) are comparatively short runs. 15-30 min max for the original. Super cheap as well and runs on any old potato.
I find them good for calming down my hamster brain.
(Controls are beyond simplistic as well, there's no learning curve)

Yeah... older I get, more I appreciate games that appreciate your very limited time. Crafting, exploring, leveling up... they need to be fast and the game has to allow you to play for 15 minutes and get somewhere or it's not necessarily value for my limited time.
Many devs don't understand what's it like to be 35+ and I don't even have kids or other stuff that would destroy any chance of playing for 15 minutes even :D
So why people watch other people playing games? Because it saves them time. Time playing, time figuring out WHAT to play :)

Fascinating, I never knew lamb. I grew up with it as hamburger! Makes sense since I lived in a cattle area, but still interesting. 🙂

@@lodebo3847 Eh, I mean it has colonists. But you can easily play the game without ever interacting with that mechanic at all. They are more like robots for hire than actual colonists as far as I remember.

@@lodebo3847 Makes sense. I never got into the game much, other than beating it. Right now this game doesn't seem that much different, but it has room to grow we'll see if it can make it more unique.

Yeah, that's a great game. I've got a decent amount of hours in it. I really need to go back to it, I've played a little since they did the Journey's End update a few years ago, but nowhere near to see all the new stuff.
It almost feels like a prequal to Starbound. I like it.
But like it actually as colonist AI that works. Real test will be if they will be capable of not standing in lava.😅

@@0b5cur3N3k0T3r0r My biggest let down with Starbound was when I realised that colony tenants didn't matter, they were just generic npcs with no personality or persistence.
This game seems to fill all the deficiencies that Realms of Magic has where it comes to the settlement management. The variety in RoM seems to be higher, although this one may catch up to that over time but a core mechanic like delegating busywork is not something that RoM can properly implement retroactively. My eyeballs are glued to this one o_o

Once he started playing I saw Starbound similarities as well.
If I remember correctly the main dev or main person responsible for this game (began following them a few years ago therefore I cannot remember correctly) worked in Starbound and sort of wanted to make a better version of it. Because you know, all the colony and settlement stuff in Starbound was kind of cut off
@@gustavoboscardin9351 they seem to have quit halfway leaving to modders fixing it (fraking universe) I still love Starbound but the colony management in this game seems much better, specially the click and drag boxes of Rimworld, compared to manually going to every colonist to tell them what to do.
For this game they focus more on management, Starbound seems to focus on combat.
This looks great and I'm excited to see how well integrated colonists are. They're more than furniture and smart enough to not require constant baby sitting by the look of things, I'll be looking out for this one.
I love how magnificently casual ol' Cathy is about, you know, barely surviving the wreck of a spaceship and crash-landing in the wilderness of some alien backwater planet that has so far already proved to be home to things like giant wasps. 💅
As someone who both lives in California and loves shepherds pie I have to share this with you, look up Scottish/Highland games, find when the next one is happening at the Alameda county fairgrounds, I believe that will be Sept. 3-4 this year head down there, find a food tent that serves Shepherds pie, buy one of each type they have, enjoy the experience of a lifetime. Your welcome.
Shepherd's pie and cottage Pie are dead easy to cook.

Shepard's pie is lamb mince cooked in gravy with onion and carrots, them topped with mashed potato and baked in the oven. It's really nice. Cottage pie is similar, but with beef mince instead.
most American "Shepard's pie's" are just cottage pies anyway. Especially the frozen microwave kind. Still, VERY good and a calorie dense meal that is very filling and easy to make. I highly recommend.
@@miclowgunman1987 they're even better when you start to change the mash up. add turnip and sweet potato into the mix, or do a colcannon style one with leeks in it and cream.
Make a shepherd's pie yourself Splatt! It's super easy - and if you don't like lamb (or mutton) make a cottage pie, it's the same thing basically, you just substitute the lamb for ground beef. You'd LOVE it. Mashed potatoes on top of all that beefy goodness with peas, carrots, onions (you could even add mushrooms) mixed in. Baked in the oven, sprinkle some cheddar on top and grill for a minute or two as a final touch to melt the cheese. Absolute comfort food like no other. 🤤🤤
One of my favourite meals! But with beef it's not a shepards pie anymore, it's now a cottage pie!
I grew up in SoCal. My dad would make Cottage Pie a ton! (Shep's pie uses lamb/sheep. Cottage uses other meat, like hamburger)
A good shepherd's pie goes down a treat mid-winter. The key with shepherd's pie is you use leftover roast lamb, already cooked, as the filling. It was a way of stretching your protein out in times of lean. Very much an old English thing, and fairly common to have in places still British-aligned (like here in Australia).
True Shepard pie is kinda like a beef stew with tons of veggies very thick sauce then top with mash potato baked till mash is crisped. It's a dope easy comfort food. Src = Chef of 17 years

traditional Shepherd's Pie uses lamb, but here in the west ground beef is used, it's basically meet, mixed veggies, topped with with a hefty layer of mash, the salty beef juices makes a nice gravy for the mash and the added protein is sooo good, so uh, yeah try it. You will probably want to not eat it too often as it's pretty hearty.
Just like splat, "why is it off center" while the game tells you to press R.
You can get shepherd's pie at any good irish pub, even in Cali. I live in Sac area, we have a few spots. Make sure you get it with the ground lamb or its just a cottage pie. Once it cools down definitely recommend.

Hey Splat. Hit R. I'm willing to bet your door isn't lining up properly because R changes the direction it opens. WHen you moved the left door it no longer lined up either.
Judging by the movements of his mouse cursor I almost can tell he didn't even acknowledge the text, let alone flipping the door with R. Sometimes I just die inside watching him. Incredible that someone who played, idk, thousands of games, hasn't already mastered the fundamentals of the most basic of interactions in games. I sincerely trust that you could wake me up 3 in the morning, show me a screenshot with this issue, and I would say to you "have you tried finding a key to flip the door?" without opening my eyes properly, but after seeing R🔄right in the middle of the action, I would 100% add "it's probably R... and you're stupid" before going back to sleep.
after seeing 16:16 I have to admit it was probably the game's fault, it's some kind of a glitch. Splat, if you ever read this, just acknowledge what you've seen (and done) to stop us from speculating whether it's the game or just you, because you have your own way of doing silly things. oh you know you do, but we somehow love you still.

OMG I LOVE Shepards Pie! 1st it has beef all ground up then sweet corn layered on top of the meat then mashed potatoes with sour cream mixed in put some warm butter on top of it and i can eat a serving meant for a family of 6 by myself most times i can barely eat a single burger but something about shepards pie is sooo good your missing it dude! Go buy one in the store Blakes shepards pie is the best its all organic no chemicals! Ok splatter keep up the good videos! sorry but i just had to comment about the pie!

@@williamshrubb5653 same here. Totally pissed me off. I had only just discovered the game too... Only info was on the forums, etc. Seems like the dev could have given a heads up ... I don't know... on the info screen that popped up EVERY TIME you load the game (mentioning his Patreon) or something!
I missed out on snagging it before the price hike. Now I might just pick up Starsector instead lol
Even at full price, the game is worth what you'll get out of it. I've had a great time with the game so far.
seems to be (heavily) inspired by starbound. esp. the tomatos and torch are near identical.
I think the font is identical and the overall UI style is also pretty much the same. So much so, that I wonder whether it's from the same developers?
These are the guys that helped make starbound, mostly the contractors ones that got screwed over.

Shepherd's Pie is more of an east coast old school thing. We do it a lot in PA, old pennsylvania dutch cooking. That and Hog maw. Look that up sometime you're feeling you have a strong stomach.
if it's anything like Terraria, finding a cave or hollowing out a giant tree or something is usually best for building your base, rather than building the entire thing from scratch. it means less building/materials and also a natural barrier which is much harder (if not impossible) to destroy. You likely know of this tactic of using the rocks and things as natural barriers and building your base into them.

I'm surprised, I honestly couldn't see myself getting excited for a game like this. I really enjoyed Terraria but felt that it lacked a bit of content, I thought starbound was the solution, but it sat in early access for so long that by the time the game released I was already done with it and the post release content wasn't enough to engage me. This looks like it has a great balance of what I like in this sort of game
You already know exactly what a Shepherd's Pie tastes like even if you've never had one. It's beef, onions, mushrooms and mashed potatoes for a crust.
I live on the west coast of California in a small city. I have 3 restaurants that serve shepard's pie. It's 1 of my favorite meals. Look harder sirah! :)
This is a pretty solid Starbound mod but I don't like that the modders decided to remove the spaceship.

Well, I can tell these developers really liked Edge of Space. A game I made long ago lol, best developer feeling ever to see influence from your game!! Neat!!
Lead dev here. I formerly worked on Starbound, which is where the influence comes from and as far as any relation to Edge of Space goes.
Sorry but that game was trash and even more so when you abandoned it, please do something for the game industry and never make a game again.

As others have said, looks very Starbound.
Starbound is cool multiplayer. If you start a game with your friends, everyone has to survive and gather enough fuel to make jumps to even meet up. And everyone has to decide on a planet to meet that might be in the middle. Like, you look at the starmap and decide as a group. It's a very emergent, there's no explicit game mechanism for it. Very cool moment.
Did they change it so you cant just teleport to each others ships from anywhere in the universe and down to whichever planet the ship you're currently on is orbiting.

The pre-packaged shepherd's pie is disgusting. Homemade is the way to go. It is delicious. Easy to make too

If you haven't already then I think you should go check out Project Zomboid again when their next big update hit's. They're adding npcs with a complex system revolving around their relations to other npcs and tons of stories is said to include which would spark so much new feelings of immersion to the game.
