- This is kind of "Urban Sketching" in the forest. ;)
In this video, I share with you an enjoyable time spent in my favorite Breton forest (France). Listening to the sound of dead leaves under my shoes, picking chestnuts, leaves and mushrooms, watching the light dancing in the canopy... and painting on the spot, of course!
I hope you will like this demo of me sketching 2 gorgeous mushrooms (amanitas), in the woods.
My painting may be a bit picky and slow sometimes but it was so enjoyable to paint there that I ended up to take my time!!! ;)
Thanks for watching!
What an enjoyable experience for me to travel with you into the woods! Thank you for the fabulous water color lesson. I appreciate the fact that you don't speed up your painting so that I can learn all I can in real time. I also am learning as you talk through your thoughts as you paint. It is so valuable to a newcomer like me.
lovely work!.....getting anxious for good weather to walk in the bush.......your painting made me smell the smells of the bush and it's adventures that await me......thank you!
I loved watching every minute of this! Wish I had found you sooner. You are a complete joy to watch. Thank you!!! Sending love all the way from Kentucky USA.❤️
What a lovely forest and such a great way to sketch and paint.
Omg they all look painted with love!
Also, I think short hair really suits you ❤️
I love your Art! I love your struggling. You are great and inspiring!
Those white spots really popped out when you added the shadows. Wow!
Wow I just discovered you. I recently had a serious accident so retired as a physician. Looking to revive my painting “hobby” from 20 y ago. Your videos with lovely encouragement, amazing talent (guitar as well), and energy are just what the doctor ordered. Thank you! Stay well
This was a very enjoyable video...The forest is magical, and the demonstration of painting the red mushrooms, enchanting! Thank you for sharing it and I look forward to seeing more!
I just found your channel... Your enthusiasm is infectious and your painting approach is inspirational. I paint as a hobby not as a career, but I find a lot of your advice is applicable outside of the arts as well. Thanks and keep posting!
Wonderful setting... it is so quiet and even though this was from the winter time, everything on the forest floor is alive and you have surprises of color in the mushrooms, lichen, so many little jewels of nature and you are so talented to bring them home and share them in a video. I loved your watercolor painting. I'm working hard to learn before I die.
this is a terrific example of how beautiful nature is. thank you for the video and painting. it was all so lovely!!!
I love your forest! & your depictions of it...Sending warmth from the desert in New Mexico. Thank you.
Lovely fairy toadstool you have painted 🍄
As always I get a thrill watching you paint and love that you explain to us what is going through your mind as you design and create your painting. I got into water color so that I could take along some paint and paper maybe a pencil or two and get some rough studies of nature down on paper. I do love to watch what others see in the world around them and I can compare that with what I am seeing in order to know if I am going to be able to capture my subject or not. Please do more of these maybe at least one walk in the woods in each season, Maybe winter could be left out as the water might freeze as well as your fingers and toes. As always I love watching you paint and love your happy spirit.
I love your use of colours....
Love this!
Amazing how the addition of the Moonglow & QuinFuchsia gave those bumps substance and dimension (~31:10). I’m stuck home because of the corona virus, but I live on 10 acres. Going to get my stuff together and go out and tromp around today and see what I find! It’s not fall, so things are still a bit drab, but we have some lovely turkey tail fungus I’m going to seek out.
What a beautiful painting and a relaxing video! Thank so much for sharing, I love the sound of nature in the background of your video😉
Magnificent! Love your video and painting. Thank you for sharing.
I love watching you. Thankyou
This is GORGEOUS & I love your color choices! Your guitar playing is also beautiful. You are a Renaissance woman! 😊

Merciiiiiiii !! 😊
Greetings from NYC ... Wonderful watching you paint!
I love your painting your accent is amazing
Beautiful sketch and an enchanting walk in the woods. Thank you so much!
Wonderful walk in the woods and lovely painting too. The low light really brings out the beauty. Enjoyed your guitar playing also. So multi-talented! :) Would love to see more walks like this.
Wonderful location...
💕love it💕, a very relaxing video, nice music too. Thank you so much.
great video - I love your explanations! Very instructive!
Beautiful.
lovely painting...lovely walk through the woods, thank
you.
Very nice!
Love the painting and the location, really beautiful.. As a photographer, I would like to extend my advice for you for your focusing problems. Your aperture is too large, meaning that the f stop has to be closed down a lot more. A good f stop would be around 5.6. This will solve most of your focus problems as it gives you a longer depth of field. Also remember to increase your ISO to around 400 when shooting in a dark area like where you were, with the added smaller f stop will give you a correct exposure setting.
Artist Cave lucky me!!! I clicked on this video and found a good vibe for painting & a tip to improve with my t3i . Artist in general should help each other , thanks Artist Cave for join and help the creative side of the followers of the white Rabbit 👍🏻
Great job!!! Love your video!
Excellent.. I love that you are a musician too . . . And you're a lovely musician as well as a gorgeous artist ❤❤❤
🧡💜💛 So many compliments, I am so grateful!! 😊😘
See you very soon. (there is a video where I sing but I think the sound is not very good... ☺️)
Très joli et instructif ! Merci.
I love this video!
So lovely
Thank you 🙏
Merci, Anne-Laure! It was wonderful to go into the forest with you and to watch you paint. I hope you will make more videos like this one. It would be great if you could get the camera over your shoulder so that we could see a direct view of the painting, instead of seeing it from the side. (I realize that might not be an easy thing to do in the middle of a forest).
Love it
Dans quelle "Breton forest"?... peut-être trop indiscrète, comme question ! ;-) En tout cas, merci pour le partage de cet épisode bucolique en forêt !
Amazing..! loved your accent and painting. Would you mind sharing the specification and brand of paper and color you are using. Thanks again for publishing this video
Wow awesome! Love your process your videos. Where is this location?
Love your watercolor sketches! Can you do a video of your supplies for painting outdoors? Like your palette and how you hold and arrange it all? Thanks!
Hi Paige! Thanks for your comment and compliments! 😊 I added the painting outdoors video idea in my list. 😀😉 Thank you for the suggestion.
In the meantime, did you watch this video too? ruclips.net/video/AZFFPH6bs80/видео.html I show a bit my gear at the beginning of the demo. 😌 See you!

Your video and painting is absolutely beautiful!! Would you mind doing a video on the sketching set up you have? It looks very quick to set up and so practical. Thank you!!
Hi Aneta! Thank you so much for your compliments on my painting and for your interest in my work! 😊
I added the idea of talking about the set up on my list (so many things to tell!!!).
Did you watch this other video? ruclips.net/video/AZFFPH6bs80/видео.html ☺️ I show a bit my setting in the beginning. 😊

Following the White Rabbit
Thank you so much for replying. Yes, I watched that video after I posted this comment. I got a better idea of the board set up. Thank you. I guess some tips on gear would be great since you seem to apply the minimalistic idea to your tools. I love that. I always carry to much stuff and I'm in big need of downsizing. 😢
Thank you again. I'm marathon watching all your videos right now. 😄
Following the White Rabbit
Also I have a question, I love your big sketchbooks, they're gorgeous! To be honest I'm scared of big sketchbooks. How do I switch from tiny (pocket size) to big format? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The top of the mushroom is the cap, the ‘foot’ is the stem, and the skirt is the skirt! 😊💜🍄
Lovely! Have you done a post or video on how to make the sketchbook set-up you use?
Rebecca Page - I would also LOVE to see a detailed video about your set-up!
Jennifer Alvarez I'm basic/boring-I usually paint with a quad of colors picked from the dozen in my palette using a squirrel mop and finish off with either a pigma micron or Pentel brush pen.
Hiya! How is your paintbox attached to your sketchbook? Thx..xo
You can use a gas torch to dry your paint outdoors.
Lovely video 🙂 What sketchbook do you use?
Ahah my English was so slow and laborious at the time!!! 😅 Thank you Kyomi! About the Sketchbooks, I am making my own! 😃❤️ Feel freel to check the DIY Watercolor Sketchbook if you like ruclips.net/video/e88S5zdflkQ/видео.html
Lol be careful, though, you are going to binge watch my videos all days if you don’t stop now!!!!! 🤣😂😘
Anne could you give us an update on your extended row of colours. I wanted to buy the colours before I follow you on Patreon ? Pretty please !
I miss Brittany.. what is the name of this this wonderful forest please?
