Hon James L Oberstar & The Plume, ALG, 6 30 24

Honorable James L Oberstar - Built by the American Shipbuilding Co, Toledo, OH in 1959 as a bulk carrier. She was lengthened 96’ in 1972; converted to a self-unloader in 1981 by Fraser Shipyards, Superior, WI and repowered in 2009. She is now 806’ in length, 75’ in beam with a capacity of 31,000 tons. Her power comes from two Rolls-Royce Bergen - B32:40L6P 6-cylinder diesels at 8,160 bhp each driving a single controllable pitch propeller.
