jamuary 14 2025 - ecco the dolphin on octatrack

today I learned how to use the arrange mode on the octatrack, specifically so that I could keep my hands mostly free to play Ecco the Dolphin. I set up recording triggers for 6 tracks at fairly arbitrary points in the patterns, and just laid down sample triggers with parameter locks to play the samples at different rates and pitches, all without any forethought. Then I ran the thing and started playing the game, letting the octatrack remix the game audio for me. I refined the patterns over a few hours of testing until I got something that seemed to be potentially musical, and then filmed a complete performance. Octatrack is too strong!
