- I've never really thought about buying a follow focus, even though I can see the usefulness of having one. But now that I have one, it is very cool and I can see using it a fair bit. Today we check out the SmallRig 3010 Mini Follow Focus F40. The SmallRig 3010 Mini Follow Focus F40 is a great little addon for all filmmakers that are using a smaller DSLR or Mirrorless camera. We try the SmallRig 3010 Mini Follow Focus F40 today on our Canon RP. The RP doesn't have great autofocus when shooting 4K so we mostly shoot manual focus. This is going to be very helpful.

For who use tis type of cams it looks like an excellent peace of kit and i bet your pre-roll or how you call it get even better.
yeah im having fun using this gear. Im mostly using it for the second side camera. But its working great.
Taking the guesswork out of manual focus. This is pretty nice and reasonably priced. As you mention though, it would definitely take advantage of being mounted to a cage.
having the cage is very important and a starting point for all camera kits. Im enjoying playing with this for sure.

Amazon sell 15mm ally tubes quick can easily be cut to length, lots cheaper than buying branded one.
Another quick tip
Did you know that the Smallrig cages are arca Swiss compatible.
Two grooves either side of the bottom plate.
So you can attach the cage straight to a tripod.

FYI. You had a really missed opportunity by stating that it doesn't come with a manual that explains how to Be set it up, then not show how you set it up.
I got one a few months ago. Major increase in production removing the focus hunting lol.
Yeah im sure ill be getting some good use out of it as well. Great piece of kit for sure.
Have you use it with a gimbal?
@@GrouchyVlogs no. I don't think it would work too well since it's not wireless. I've used it on a Rhino slider and it was really nice with that, easily moved focus with a push in and out.
@@JraKn I have the weebil s and I just purchased a follow focus that is strictly for the gimbal and there’s a small dial that I can control the follow focus with right next to my handle so it ended up working out perfect for my needs I just can’t use it hand held I’ll probably buy the small rig for that instance. this camera is always on a tripod, so weight really isnt an issue. But performance is. So im happy that this camera is kitted up. My other cameras are pretty much bare bones.
Can this be mounted to the right side?
Would this be easy on a gimbal?
