We bought a 2019 XC90 T6 R-Design. I thought I wanted a Q-7. You get so much more for your money with Volvo. Including free shipping to the states. (I am living in Germany for another 5 months) We did pay 637 euro to have it deliver from Sweden. It is amazing. Just got back from Italy. Stellar gas milage even in the Alps. 3 kids 2 adults, Kids are 5'3", 5'8", 5'8". The back row is full sized. Seats recline and slide. One of the 5'8" kids sat in the 3rd row so I disagree 100 with the claim it isn't good for long trips for tall people. Did they even try it out? I did. Storage in the back is very similar to my 2016 Explorer. It fits in all the car parks fine. It will park for you actually. Park in and park out- check it out. *edited, Diesels are being outlawed all over so it would be a bad investment. I can't find enough electric recharge stations, but I would look at them the next go around. She should switch her driving off Dynamic because she complains about bumps with the suspension. This is the only vehicle that seats that literally fall back in a crash to absorb shock. So many more details should be covered. Details I didn't realized I had- there is a cooling button in the glove box to make it a chili box! For real! You can change the ambient lighting to 7 different colors! Ours is stuck on purple because my daughter makes all the shots.

You do not have to use the screen to adjust the climate control. Voice control is brilliant and never fails for setting the temperature either for the front two zones or the passenger alone. Even if one choses to use the screen, the control is always at the bottom of the screen and requires one touch to expand and normally one hit on the scale to get the desired temperature.
Quick demist is controlled by a physical button to the side of the big volume knob on the dash, below the screen.
Tyre noise is by far the biggest negative on these cars.

Had Range Rover sport, X3M and X3M40i, plus a V60 Polestar. The XC90 is hands down the best in every area, except exhaust sound, which is nice to be silent.

I've owned my 2017 Volvo XC90 T8 incription 2 years now and it's been a pleasure to drive. It doesn't take long to get used to the controls. I can adjust most the of them with only having take a brief glance at the monitor. It's only been back to change one of the rear electric window motors on the near side because it was a bit slow to close. Apart from that. 👍

interceptor1986 what’s your reasoning for that statement? Not challenging your statement but just curious about your thought process. Arguably all of these cars can be ‘ugly’ when specced poorly but all can look stunning if specced properly don’t you think? However, the XC90 is incredibly good looking. However, what makes you think the Audi is so bad in comparison? I would happily take any of these any day

I don’t see the point of comparing comparing the interior to a Q7. Volvo buyers look for practicality and safety. A Volvo isn’t built for performance ( although it’s OK) one thing is certain for a person to get seriously hurt or worse in a xc90 something freakishly exceptional has to happen. I mean it’s practically impossible.
    Very important for family car.

      @benjaminsmith2287 4 года назад

Too many times. It's that way with a lot of reviewers. Constantly comparing another car to Audi or BMW. And most people just don't care about the stuff reviewers go on and on about. Livability is what they should focus on more and real driving opposed to how sporty it is. It's a large SUV, not a sports vehicle.

It runs about 220-230 miles with a full tank, significantly less compared to my last SUV, BMW X5, which held about 22 gallons and drove more than 300 miles easily.

Comparing the Volvo XC90 that retails way below its rivals and comes as standard with a range of "standard" extras to the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Land Rover Discovery and Porche Cayenne is daft really when you factor in costs associated. Especially as the review is based on the hybrid vehicle.
That said, putting the Volvo in the same group and trying to compare with those mentioned says it all. It’s simply that good and up there with the main “big players” without having to spend quite a bit more. I appreciate the reviewer mentions others come in at a higher price at the end of this review but what this review fails to mention that the rivals also charge quite a bit on top of the initial price for even the most basic extras that come as standard with the Volvo. The Land Rover for instance doesn't even come with sat nav in the standard entry level model and you have to upgrade to get that (about £10k) which is crazy in todays market.
From what I've found, and after Months of reviews and test drives, BMW, Audi, and Land Rover, Should be concerned as the overall package, build quality, finish, and pricing of the Volvo XC 90 kick the ass of its German and UK/Indian made rivals.
I've owned both an Audi Q5 and a BMW X5 and have just bought an XC90 which I get in 2 weeks time (trading in my Audi Q5). The Volvo XC90 is just that good. Don't take my word for it though. Go and see for yourself and I doubt you'll be disappointed.
One thing that is very good is the boot room after 7 seats are up is much better than any of its rivals with room for a dog or bags/ suitcases.
I'd definitely recommend you compare all cars including what they all come with as standard before deciding on what to buy.
For me, £ for £, the Volvo XC90 is WAY ahead of its rivals in terms of price + extras etc versus the rest. Not even close really and comes with more tech and kit than some fully loaded cheaper rivals.

It's like everything new, once you use it for a few days you will find exactly which way to flick the screen without looking, once the right page is showing ( you can only flick once, left or right !) and then look down, the same if you were twiddling with the nobs on your old radio or heater settings, and choose which to press !! Simples, and don't forget you don't have to fiddle with the touch screen for many of the everyday settings , such as heating/aircon, radio etc. just press the voice control button on the steering wheel, and say " Turn down heating" or whatever you are wanting to do, simple.

@@adilmalik3458 Of course they are, but they are downsizing. Volvo, since it was bought, they build small engines, they didn't downsize anything.
The real reason behind it is not 'the day and age we live on' but the technological capabilities of the company. The bar set is very low since they are owned by those chinese. Their cars have become Made in China quality all over..
Also, all the premium companies have kept their 3.0 liter engines and downsized the really big ones like the V12, V10 and V8.
So Volvo used this context of downsizing and never build one after all. But if you turn to X5, Q7, Touareg, ML, GLE, etc etc you WILL find 3.0's. And yes, they also have 2.0's but let's get serious, who is buying those?
Also, an suv weights that much equipped with a 2.0 is more a burden than a pleasure.

It's tried, driven across England and returned in this car, the top model.
It's simply the worst junk, everything is old-fashioned, the adaptive speed pilot is choppy, the driving is choppy and the lane assistant is simply so poor that it shouldn't be activated.
The gearbox in no way gives a smooth ride and so there is no power in the driveline. The feeling is that you drive with the handbrake applied. In such an expensive car you have to say total dump character.
We have a Suzuki Vitara with 140 hp petrol engine, automatic transmission and adaptive speed pilot in the company. It runs far better, more comfortable and much smoother, but at 1/3 of the price.
The Volvo XC90 is simply a joke, built to impress Chinese, but Volvo is also Chinese owned.

As an owner I agree completely. In the last 3 months alone we’ve had to have it recovered 3 times. Cracked valve head leaking oil and burning off, cracked camshaft seal leaking oil and burning off and now unspecified engine fault leaving it in limp mode. Not to mention a broken rear differential needing replacing at only 5k miles and many many other faults. Absolutely shocking cars. Have had enough now, looking to replace.

This vehicle is too big. Drivers should have to take a special driving course for road vehicles this big on UK roads, and in the USA the large Volvo SUV have the biggest drop in value after 3 years.
The real issue: the price! You will be shocked, and not in a good way.

Jorge Hadweh I traded it in for a 2018 Audi Q7. I know people have been hating about the exterior design of the Q7, but it is definitely a more reliable car. I always always and always want to go back to Volvo because I just love their current designs.
