I honestly thought the one where the train never showed up was quite strange, also barriers going up and then down again as soon as they've come down? That's just silly.

In the UK we were criticised for installing half-barrier systems on crossings. The reasoning being that if full barriers are used the "crossing box" has no exit. This means if a road vehicle has a power failure traversing the crossing that vehicle is trapped on the running lines. With half barriers the vehicle can be pushed clear of the tracks.
But then you get the idiots who swerve out around the barrier to beat the on-coming train approaching the crossing. Some made it.......others didn't !! Messy.

In my own opinion, the crossings that have the double barriers are better, for the simple reason there are far too many people who are willing to take a chance (need protecting from themselves).
I might even go as far to suggest that crossings where you might also have a gate for people on foot I would put an automated locking system on the gate (again to help protect people from themselves).

Is the alarm sounder at 1:34 faulty it’s probably not supposed to sound like that

1:34 doesn't it sound a lot like Poyntzpass's faulty alarm?

And a bit like Starbeck… maybe it’s a wear and tear sort of thing?
