  • The 2023 edition of the Daytona Turkey Run, offered a cache of C3 Corvettes!
    And even though the rain cut my visit short, I had a wonderful time and got to see some beautiful cars and trucks of every year.
    In this video, you get to see twenty-four C3 Corvettes of (almost) every year. From survivors to restored to modified and even blown C3s. There's something for everyone.
    Some were there for the car show, while many others were there hoping to find a new home. Among those was a 1971 Roadster in pretty decent condition being offered for only $15,000.
    If you wanted a classic in great condition there were many including a beautiful 1971 Stingray LT-1. And the list goes on.
    I also "sprinkled" a few non-Corvette vehicles because they were cool, or unique, or both. I consider myself an "Equal-Opportunity" car enthusiast, and as such I like and enjoy cars and trucks in general.
    And toward the end of the video you get to join me on a trip through "Gasoline Alley" at the Daytona International Speedway, and what good timing as several of the beautiful classic race cars were being awakened from their slumber and roared back to life for a few glorious minutes.
    If you haven't experienced one of these "monsters" being revved up while you are standing next to it, you have not lived. It's quite the sensation.
    I was only able to be at the Speedway one day this year. My truck's water pump started acting up and I was unable to attend Saturday which is an even busier day, especially for the car show portion, so I am hoping that the C3 Corvette selection will also be as good for the upcoming Spring Turkey Run next year.
    In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this video as you visit and experience (albeit virtually), one day at the 2023 Daytona Turkey Run at World Famous Daytona International Speedway.
    Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻

    Nice video and I didn’t have to attend, plus the video preserves a moment in time, imagine if we had smartphones of todays quality during the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s ? All we have are photos and very few of them ! Thanks!

      Taking photos back in the day was an involved process. Even with One-Hour Photo services, you didn’t know if the pics you shot were worth the trouble until you opened the envelope and had a look. Ah, the good ol’ days. Lol 😆

    You mention buying the best car you can afford. Thats what I did. I paid a little more than I wanted to but I got a fully loaded 73 coupe with only 23K miles in dark blue. Car still needs work because it sat for 23 years but it doesnt need a restoration, just a refresh. Fluids, tune up, tires, belts, 1 hose, a few vacuum lines.. stuff like that. All those things can be done on weekends and wont break the bank. Best part is, I can drive the car. I dont have to wait for a restoration like I did on my 67 Shelby. That took 9 years before I could drive it. My Stingray was back on the road in 9 days :)

      No leaks? Generally very low miles on old cars translates to dry seals and oil leaks. Congrats on fulfilling your dream to own a C3. I had a 1980 with L82.

    I worked at Chevy Engineering where the Corvette was developed and this is my era.
    I just hate to see these old cars modified and ruined. Yes, some tasteful mods, in particular under the hood to improve performance are ok, but original Corvettes always look best unless an owner has Foose like talent and not many owners with that level of talent.
    None-the-less, thanks for sharing.

      You are so correct. It also explains owners who have smaller diameter 15" tires like 225/60r15 or 235/60r15; even 245/60's look too small. These smaller diameter tires leave all that negative space in wheel wells, not filling them as the designers intended when they chose the proper sizes to compliment the body design, like 225/70r15 or even 255/60r15's.
      235's look like roller skate wheels on a C3. But I see so many with this size, and on otherwise really nice cars...so many owners who presumably think these small tires look good on a C3?

    Great video but I stopped going to shows because they play that old music! Time to evolve just a bit.

    • @jonaszepog1829
      @jonaszepog1829 4 месяца назад

      A perfect evolution would be no incessantly piped in, canned music at all . Some shows out west in Oregon, California etc. are often music-less, and it is soooo nice. We all have different tastes, but I guess organizers of shows like this (and most other shows, even small ones) think we're just sheep. Also, it raises the cost for us, as the music has to be licensed and paid for by the organizers, who then factor that into the prices of everything. Very annoying.

    Regarding that white ‘76 with the 1980-82 rear end. It seems a lot of 1974-77 owners up here in Washington also modify their Corvette with the 1980-82 rear end to give it the flat rear end look more similar to the highly sought after early model C3s’ (68-73) rear ends.
    Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but if I had a 75 or so I’d do the 82 tail end swap too, but I like the flat tail end look as I’ve a dark cherry 69 and a black 82.

      I was thinking the same thing, I've got that pacecar spoiler on the rear of my 76, also the one on the front... Nothing radical, actually look like they came on the car originally and really streamlined the look of the car... I like the way they upgrade the whole look of the car....

    • @jonaszepog1829
      @jonaszepog1829 4 месяца назад

      I see it all the time too, and personally don't think it works, from a design standpoint. Somehow it works better on the '80-'82 with the revised front end (though I think by '80-'82, the C3 looks a bit too stretched out; I guess it was getting "long in the tooth", and other dimensions by then!), but even so, nothing looks as good as '68-'72, or '73. May as well find one of those instead. Looks like there are still some affordable ones out there.

    Those c3's have a lot of potential and there's a lot of them so parts should be plentiful but I'm surprised how expensive they're getting. I wouldn't consider them terribly collectible especially the ones after 1970

    Unfortunately, the C-3 and C-4 are becoming liabilities.
    Many think they will be museum pieces sooner than later.
    That dang C-8 changed everything Vette values.
