In the movie Marie Antoinette, you can see how hard du Barry tried to be acknowledged by Marie Antoinette and how she, made it really difficult for du Barry. It was important to Louis XV for her to be accepted by the young queen.
For me, the best way to describe this is underwhelmingly riveting. Depp was excellent as was the actress who played the king's eldest daughter and the actor who was Jeanne's consult. from what I have learned Depp and Maiwenn did not work very well together and most of his scenes were left out of the theatrical release. I certainly hope we get a worthwhile director's cut which features more of his scenes. Excellent review.

We felt we needed something different,and are interested in history from different countries and time in our dear Europe. Americans are often something else in many life choices and tast. So great photo, costumes, history, womans story ,life in 1700 century! exiting and also funny. Fabulous! and I love to listen to other language than just english. Bad critics to bash JD as an actor,it is shamful!

I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. So I'm not sure if you just didn't understand what I was saying or if you somehow think that not fully loving something means a "bad" review. It is mad how times have changed isn’t it? Delighted to be chosen as the Randy Kings side-piece 😂. I know bits of her story but I will probably check this out at some stage. I’ll be interesting to see Johnny speak French if nothing else.
I just didn’t feel with this one they had chemistry. Why did they like each other? Just attraction I guess. There was also random events I felt that had nothing to do with the story. I have nothing against Depp or Heard but, I just didn’t think he was good here. I didn’t hate it but, I wouldn’t watch it again.
He obviously liked her because he felt she was beautiful. She liked him because he was the king; being his "royal mistress" meant a lot of good things for her. I felt like by the end of their relationship she truly did care for him, which feels adequately represented. Depp's performance was fine to me, but he was limited due to the language, so most of his acting came through in facial expressions. I do have negative feelings about Heard, personally. I probably won't watch it again either; it's not typically my type of film anyway.
Most things regarding royalty are weird. Be careful when commenting on the Thai regent if anyone is planning on going there, they have strict lese majeste laws. Imprisonment between 3-15 years if I recall correctly.
Watched Ryan and Mike review for this one and honestly seemed like skipable movie def a odd choice for Johnny Depp to be part of a French movie but glad to hear that you are glad you checked it out
Yeah, I knew that Ryan wasn't crazy about it; I watched his review. I could tell that Mike wasn't a fan either, based on his thumbnail. It's not a perfect movie by any means, but I appreciated some parts of it and was glad to have the opportunity to see it.
Thanks for the review.. I completely forgot he maid this movie.. will check it out later, even if Drama is not really my thing.. I hope he does more movies soon, Amber Turd wasted our time long enough..

The director is the main actress so it's unlikely there will be more Depp in any directors cut 😅🤣😂

I have heard about that! Then I heard if was off, and after that I heard it was back on. Without Depp, I'm not interested.
