I am not interested in Rublev at all but my question is would there be so many players in the mix if not for injuries? Every top player came in injured or became injured. Even Lehetchka became injured. This tournament was an unfortunate outlier. On a personal note I never got to see Carlos play and I saved up to come here to see that. I could only afford to buy tickets for the semis and final. I am not going to either as I’m no longer interested. (There is no emoji for a pained chuckle).😮
That sucks :( hopefully u can catch carlos sometime! And honestly it's a good point. An outlier event of injuries. I think you're right. I do think the tours depth at the top has gotten better tho, and this event we see some top performances still by guys well outside that "new Big 4" of daniil, jannik, Novak, carlos but probably biggest story of the event is a load of unfortunate injuries.
Agreed... was a little disappointed, despite still being a good run. Just leaving a little empty-handed again Fritz by losing to a top guy late in a Big event yet again.. will see if he can improve on that front as 2024 goes on.
Another comment… Box office matters. Players who are exciting or appealing on some level fill seats. Otherwise you can stay home and watch the rest for the price of a subscription. 😂
