"THEY" told me to come here for "THEM". no seriously... This is my favorite concept album by King Diamond and one of the greats as far as concept albums are concerned. each song is a chapter of a story. The album "Conspiracy" is part two of this story when he's an adult and returns to the house. As a whole, Grandma is coming home from the asylum, She's haunted by spirits or demons she calls "THEM". This album is basically a young naive king diamond that respects and honors his elders being introduced to "THEM" by his "crazy" grandma, and he falls into a spell or trance, and "THEY" (THEM and King) kills his sister. He lures Grandma out of the house where "THEM" have no power and he kills her, and it ends with him by police and "THEM" speaking to him in his mind and him getting sent to an asylum himself. The Conspiracy Album picks up on his release from the Asylum as an adult, and him returning to the house as the heir to it to find that "THEM" are still very much there and he wants answers to what happened to his sister because he doesn't remember it clearly so he makes a deal with "THEM" to return his sister in exchange for the house, and then she, as undead visits him nightly for answers and she tells him his mother and his asylum doctor want to kill him and take the house for themselves, which they succeed, and this ends with King promising to torture and haunt them from beyond the grave. I think the story as a whole would make a great movie actually too.
I'm one of the cool kids that knew this song before Clerks 2. Specifically, I bought this CD in 2005 and the movie came out in 2006. So you can basically worship me if you want.
Jimmy Rustler very true, I had a pseudo hippie roommate, he would play widespread panic and grateful dead, I made him hate king diamond and merciful fate
Every Single King Diamond and Mercyful Fate fan literally cringes at every comment that references "clerks 2". I should know, I'm one of the ones cringing reading the comments. But ya know, if it brings new listeners to his epic music, I can deal with the cringing! Long Live King Diamond, and I pray there will be at least one more album!
These are some of the most musically inclined muscicians you can find. Theyre sincerely amazing at their instruments, and piecing all of what they do into sounds like this. Their music has overatures, and you hear progressions through the song, and not just key changes. Even within single phrases, you will hear it expand and extrapolated on as its repeated back-to-back. And the refrains... Just, fuck. And then- "Let me help you!!!! Out of your chair!!!!! G-G-Grandma!!!" Its amazing. The nonesense somehow pushes it all forward even more, and just... the unexplainable nature of this sound being Hendrix, but the vibe is realistically Flight of the Concords, is just... Indescribable. Even now i havent done it justice.
Brenton Alexander Well yes it has become a big genre itself but we can't deny the fact that it started as more extreme rock... There's the same instruments, electric guitar, bass guitar and drums! And of course the spirit is the same! Rock on brother ;) \m/

A true masterpiece, and a heavy influence on Death's later albums, especially Individual Thought Patterns on which LaRocque plays!
You can also hear the influence on Emperor's albums especially their last one.
You are so correct.
yep, definitely hear a major death influence on this song .
