- Tsukuba circuit is one of those tracks that I feel like I've known forever, perhaps only second to Laguna Seca. So much of my childhood was spent at these circuits, virtually, so it was fantastic to meet another one in real life, despite not being able to drive it.
The day was made a little bit more special by the surprise appearance of Keiichi Tsuchiya, who was racing a Tesla of all things.

Hey Danny if you ever feel like you would want to experience a kart like in the opening scene. I drive a few of these on karting tracks in belgium/netherlands and I would be more than happy to let you drive one of my karts. They go about 70mph max and its extremely fysical and fast.

Amazing innit? Tsukuba has something in common with the Nurburgring Green Hell. One of the shortest tracks in Japan requires a specific licence to drive on it same as the Ring does, the longest track still in use! I think they have a bit of penile envy!
You don’t need a special license to drive the ring
Anyone can drive the ring. You need a licence to RACE there though.
Ive always wanted to fly over to japan to drive on Tsukuba, idk if there is a video or if you plan on making it id love to know how a foreigner could do a lapping day/drive around the circuit.

I'm going over in February, aside from furiously googling and just turning up to the circuit, is there any event people would recommend to try and aim for? This is the bit where I get loads of posts about how it's closed in February 😂
