0:22 if you look behind the elephants you see in front of you, you can see the mother of the calf, those rhinos was not a threat to the calf and elephants are very smart and knows this
Unfortunately, not in this case. It seems they were dominant on approach as you can see the young elephants backing out. This is despite the adult rhinos weighing what seems like a 3rd less than the biggest elephant in the group. Rhinos are generally peaceful grazing animals and having poor eyesight, it is easy to understand why they wanted a closer look and could have easily thought the baby elephant was one of their own so they needed to make sure!
Every other video over the decades I have watched involving a baby elephant shows the herd going berserk in protective and attack mode with much less threat than multiple Rhinos approaching the baby. Completely confused why the Elephants didn't do the same in this potentially dangerous situation to the baby.
Probably, because all the Elephants in the front are youngsters and are insecure towards the Rhinos. The adults in the background 0:24 either don't feel a threat, or don't see that the tiny one is involved. It's also usually Bull Elephants that attack Rhinos, and they don't live within the herd.
There was a real story in kalahari where in teenage bully elephants ( frat boy version of elephants) murdered adult rhino's for fun blanking conservation efforts so much that they brought in bull elephants twice the frat boys size to calm them down and make them look like toddlers which they did. Gives perspective and context in size. There is rhino big there is teen elephant big then there is big daddy elephant big.
They can. But those elephants seem sub-adult? And the 4 rhinos are in there prime. Those elephants might struggle a little if the rhinos acted together, but rhinos don't typically act together at least not as much as elephants.
You certainly have to respect an adult Rhino. They are such a magnificent animal, absolutely beautiful.
All heavyweights in the crowd 😊🙏
We are fortunate to witness whatever last few majestic animals like these. Hope we protect last few that are remaining alive.
I love elephants, they are so intelligent. 😊
True. Rhinos - not so much.
Because everyone thinks baby elephants are adorable, even rhinos.

Actually those Elephants aren't fully grown tho. Just search Rhino vs Elephant on RUclips to see the real comparison between these 2 animals
All these elephants are youngsters. You see an adult looming in the background at 0:24
Rhino:
- Explain ur smolness.
- Am potat.
Grow up.
Two giants😂
Rhinos on the brink of fucking around and finding out.
the elephants were small, the rhinos could stand up to them
@@stefanor.1771 Also those elephants had small seemingly harmless tusks.
@@TheKomentor probably the only fully grown Is the mother of the calf

@@TheKomentor that's cause they're juveniles
The rhino calf must have encouraged an adult rhino over elephant calves

I’m surprised mama elephant allowed it.
Elephants backed off. May be sub-adult? 4 rhinos in their prime. I am a little surprised too though.
@@mryan4452 Yeah, those are teenagers Mom is in the background. 0:24
The rhino that i know.
i wonder how related and similar rhino are to elephants
Not so much, they are actually more related to horses and tapirs
