a trick : you can watch series on flixzone. Been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Gregory Daniel yea, I've been watching on flixzone for years myself :)
I really think brands would be really smart to come out with limited edition vintage packaging. It just looks nicer I’m general.
Your channel is like a breathe of fresh air .... but vintage 💕🐇
I love Nivea, l know a man who is 97,has skin like a 30 year old,he uses it every day..
The vintage jars of Ponds are gorgeous!
I know I’m obsessed
I put modern products in their vintage jars, Ponds, Vaseline, Vick’s, and Noxema. The jars are so pretty.
I’d love if you could talk about the history of Bourjois cosmetics
Cherries in the Snow was my first grown up red lipstick and I’m still wearing it. I can’t imagine life without this shade, I really wish Revlon would re release more archive shades.
Mine is Fire And Ice. Grandma used it, Mama used it, now I use it. And it's my most complimented color.
Both Cherries In The Snow and Fire & Ice are my all time favorite red lipsticks.
My grandmother's moisturizer has been Oil of Olay, in the glass jar, for as long as I can remember and I'm 42. She always had one opened and a backup in her medicine cabinet!
Oh nice I love the glass jar it’s so pretty
Does anyone remember it being called Oil of Ulay?
@@lenafranklin7262 Yes I remember that, until the 90's it was called Oil of Ulay - but only in English speaking countries. I think in Germany they called it Oil of Olaz or similar. No idea what it was called in other countries, I've never used it as it apparently contains pig fat.
@@LittleKitty22 oh disgusting, how about Vaseline? Petroleum jelly!
@@lenafranklin7262 I do, I remember that name and it being advertised on t.v my mother used it
I'm shocked the original scent Jergen's lotion did not make the list. In the 1950s and 1960s, it had a glorious smell. Because it was so beautifully fragrant, someone had the idea that it conflicted with cologne and changed, weakned, dumbed -down the formula. I wish Jergen's would revive original scent Jergen's lotion and make a cologne in that scent as well.
I feel the same way about Jergens!
I would save my babysitting money and buy it while always loving the scent. I have bought the newer bottles that state 'original ' scent but its not the same.
I agree Renee! Jergens was a stocking gift I looked forward to at Christmas. Loved the fragrance. Not until I was an adult did I find out that it was almond scented. I still can't get enough of that fragrance! Thank you Laura for this video, I loved it!
Yes! I just mentioned this too! I love it! You get a huge bottle at Walmart for under ten bucks!
Oh! And I love rose scents and found Rose Milk lotion online too a few years ago.
I'd be so excited if we ever get an episode of Josephine Baker!
I love ChapStick! When I was in grade school back in the early '80s, I'd get a pass to go to the bathroom and always put ChapStick on in the mirror. I have multiple varieties of ChapStick today and use them all.
It's good for kitchen burns...
I've used many of these products. I need to buy Estee Lauder Night Repair Serum....I'm totally out of product....Thanks for this lovely rush of memories of the 1970's when I started using many of these products.♡
I love the product. It is pricey, though, so I only buy it at the holidays as a treat for myself. It is fantastic!
@@rebeccawebb2298 I always buy the EL night repair around Christmas Time....it really makes my skin look great.
Dove soap was the only soap we had growing up & I use pond's cold cream & Olay night cream! Doesn't get any better
I enjoyed your video. I use Ponds, Olay, Revlon, Nivea, and Estee Lauder Night Repair Serum. Also Vaseline, Carmex and ChapStick. Thanks! Take care and God Bless ! Your friend from Michigan 😙😁🌹🌹🍁🍁
You must have amazing skin! 🌻
My Mom used the oil Olay lotion and Ponds and had beautiful skin right up to her passing at 91. Love the packaging on that Ponds.
I enjoy your videos so much! I grew up in the 60s & 70s and some of these bring back so many memories of cosmetics my mom, aunt and grandma had! Also Ponds makes me think of my Great Grandma, she used it every day.
So neat! I love ponds such a classic
Everyone of these products has graced our home at one time or another from childhood into adulthood. My mother used ponds to take off her zinc oxide sunscreen as she was an avid swimmer. I don't remember a time we didn't have Nivea (being from Germany) & still use the orginal made in Germany brand today. Chanel # 5 was my mother's signature scent & I wear it myself today. I used dippity doo in the 70's and every beauty parlor, my Mom, mother in law had Aqua Net as it's hair spray. This video has really taken me back & brought back some great memories.
Last time I was this early these products were being sold 😂
My aunt died at 110 years old with the smoothest skin. I asked what she did with her skin & she told me she slept with a mask of Vaseline on her face every night & stayed out of the sun. I live in Florida so I’m screwed.
Your aunt probably had a very dry skin otherwise she would have screwed it with vaseline
Vasaline =👌🏼
Wow, 110, my grandma died at 100!! She used Vaseline also. Her skin was so smooth.
I live in Florida all of my life and staying out of the sun is possible, my pale skin speaks for itself. The umbrella is your friend.
I am a very pale girl and live in Israel...I don't go outside without sunscreen and prescription sunglasses.
I‘ve grown up with Nivea and still love the smell
Seeing the Great Lash, I remember the blooming colors eyeshadow palettes with the oval pans. Love ponds cleansing cream! I use the cucumber scent.
I love aquaphor I use it on my lips before bed and I wake up to very soft lips. These are very iconic products. Thanks for sharing.
Gosh, I had no idea that Benetint was from the 70s! Here in the UK Benefit has only been widely available since the late 90s.
Another great video, thanks Laura Jane. I remember my Mother used to use a lot of these products. 🇦🇺
Really interesting!! Did not know that about the empty chapstick tubes hiding the microphones!
Microfilms not phones...............
Omg Airspun face powder smells like L’Heure Bleue eau de toilette by Guerlain!
Amazing I love that
Laura Jane Atelier thanks!
Laura Jane Atelier thanks! Please check it out if you haven’t
Weleda Skin Food Rules!
It is interesting that both lipsticks mentioned were reds!
Fun fact on Aqua Net: it was also a salon product in the 1950s. I was told this by one of my beauty school instructors who was trained and worked in salons in the 1950s. I wish they still made the red can Aqua Net. If they do its way too hard to find!
Love, Elizabeth Arden cream, I think it has vasoline in it, also Neutrogena soap, Nivea crime, loved the original creme/oil emulsion which has been discontinued for years, also the Estée Lauder serum-have used it for years...and of of course Ponds cold cream, and Coty face powder- my Mom used those two when a young woman and had a gorgeous complexion!! Great Video, Laura ☺️💕💄
OMG I have used pretty much every single one of these products!!! I remember when the Advanced Night Repair was launched. I loved it! Dive soap.... Amazing! I LOVE Pond's!! That smell always takes me back. My Grandmother used that and my mom uses it, always has. People always comment how young she looks! I think I'm going to go back to Pond's. LOL
I wear Ruby Woo!!! It's the perfect red! It smells amazing too. LOL
I kind of have a Chap Stick addiction. LOL Cherry us my fave!
Used Oil of Olay for years in my late teens and in my 20's
Thank you for all of the flashbacks on these items!! Love going back to those memories. 😍😍
Nivea cream is a staple at my home. Although it isn't marketed as a dark spot vanisher, if worn over time it removes some age spots and small cuts scars. I didn't know that so many of these products were out for so long. It is incredible to now what Benefit Rose Tint was originally used for.
Growing up Nivea and vaseline along with aveeno were always in stock. In my house moisturizer is a must.
Love your Siamese kitty picture in the background.
LOVE this video! I've used more than a few of these products...when you talked about Maybelline I had a flashback to the commercials with Lynda Carter! I really like vintage packaging too; I have old glass jars that contained Vaseline and Dagget and Ramsdell cold cream.
My gramma loved Avon products. I was a "Avon lady " for a while. I felt a connection with my Gramma.
That was another really good video.May I just say that the Cody powder formula, may possibly be the same, and it may still sell well, that much I don't know, but the original powder was packed in lovely printed cardboard containers. The cheap plastic container from the last few years, only shows the swansdown powder puffs print on the lid. I'm pretty sure it was repackaged with the screw on lid, to make it easy to take along. Women didn't go out as much as women today, and if they needed powder, they had beautiful, refillable compacts or cheaper, plastic compacts. My family was in the beauty biz. I'm also older, and have been around tons of beauty products, then and now, and I'm just a beauty junkie/ collector anyway. That's way I enjoy this beauty channel 😊 Oh, also, it breaks my heart to know ALL the classic fragrances have been reformulated with synthetics, thereby ruining them in the process. Younger women will never know how truly fabulous fragrances once were-
Talking about refillable compacts..........some were really works of art and very expensive. I have 2 Wedgewood powder compacts. I don't use them but they are beautiful to look at (lol)..........
That thing about the synthetic fragrances makes me so sad because I don't wear perfume unless it's really extracts or oils. So, I am super limited when it comes to fragrance.
I had no idea that Benefit has been around for so long!! Your videos are always so informative and everything is always set out in such a beautiful way!! 😻💜
I love Dove White. My grandma used it. She also loved olay and clinique.
Nivea and vaseline been my favourites since I was 12.
I enjoyed this very much! My grandmother was a firm believer in Dove soap. I remember how creamy it was, and it even made bubbles in the bath when I used it. To this day, anytime I smell the original Dove soap, I think of her. I tried the original Nivea cream in the blue metal can, but it is too thick for me. It will not absorb into my skin. Maybe my skin is not dry enough? I like other Nivea products, though. I did not realize how old some of these products are. Very cool.
Olay had lots of different names around the world, and when they decided to call it Olay with no Oil of, all the other names were dropped. In the UK it was called Ulay.
Oh interesting
Yes I remember my mother had Oil of Ulay 💓
It used to be called Oil of Olaz in Germany, now only Olaz.
I grew up in middle east and I remember my mom use to use oil of ulay too
Thank you for this video! I did not realize how many iconic products I own! I have Nivea cream, Ponds cream, Vaseline (I wrap my feet in it) MAC Ruby Woo lipstick and Revlon's Cherries in the Snow. I also use Dove (cleansing bar and deodorant) and Olay beauty fluid.
Oooh Yes, Nivea cream. I love this cream. My nightcream and daycream. I mix Nivea with a spf 30 of 50 and you are good to go. It's a very basic cream. Good for everything also for nappy problems for your baby.
What a great video! Brought back so many memories. I still use Estee Lauder Night Repair, Revlon Cherries In The Snow Nail Polish, Dove Beauty Bar, Elnett Hairspray, Vaseline and Aquaphor. Loved seeing all these iconic products. Thank you!
💅💄🧼🧴👝
I absolutely love this video, its practically my shopping list. Its amazing these products stood the test of time- my grandmother has vintage glass jars of a lot of these products in her basement and as I grew up, I started to actually use these products and prefer them to a lot of modern alternatives. Sadly my all time favorite vintage perfume which my grandma gifted me, Charlie Red is no longer available in the United States. Oh well. Happy memories!
What a bummer about that perfume. I love that you have vintage versions of these
I have seen Charlie red in my country, my favourite was a perfume called boronia , it disappeared from the shelves of stores and I have been unable to find it since
I love dove soap and ponds there great products that I still use
I remember oil of ulay being in a glass bottle and the lotion was pink. Can still smell it now almost sweet almond smell. That must have been very early 70s in the 🇬🇧 I did buy some a few years back and it was white and didn't smell the same 🤷
The Merle Norman co has an interesting story, although not the most popular cosmetics. The Nethercutt car museum has an incredible collection and was funded by the owner of Merle Norman.
Oh neat that sounds amazing
Merle Norman is the first face make-up I started using when I was 16. My best friend's mother put us on it as she was friends with the local studio owner. I used it for many years until I switched to Clinique which I'm using today!
But, although some thought Merle Norman was kind of a ' heavy' coverage, I think it probably kind of protected my skin. It always looked nice too!
Not sure if the product is still the same.
interesting...I have used so many of these and still do today...thanks
Thanks for watching
You should do a video on Mary Tyler Moore she was an icon of the 70s
I agree with you one hundred percent about Laura doing a video on Mary Tyler Moore. I loved her show and I loved her sidekick, Rhoda.
I think if im persistent enough it'll happen 😂
Nivea creme is the best!
I know right, apparently it’s a la mer knock off
@@Laurajaneatelier I didn't know that! Whatever it is it's great especially in the harsh Minnesota winters. Avon's Moisture Therapy and Silicone Glove are other favorites of mine 😊❤
My Grandmother always used City Airspun powder. I was heartbroken when they changed the container from all cardboard to plastic.
I have learnt so much from your channel. I am shocked that until now I had never heard of Erno Lazlo.
Idk if you maybe want to do an update video on your vintage makeup, but the museum of makeup released Marilyn Monroe’s entire skin care routine from start to finish prescribed to her by Erno Lazlo. It was really cool
Yes thank you I’m waiting for them to send me the product for the video
Whorror Stories ... Marilyn Monroe used Vaseline on her face. She said it gave her that dewy glow she had.
This was a terrific episode-thank you!
I’d love to see an episode of the top selling perfumes of the 20th century.
Aquaphor? 1945? Cetaphil? 1947?
I ALWAYS learn something new on this channel!
In the UK, Oil of Olay used to be called Oil of Ulay, it was my Nan's favourite lotion & she had beautiful skin ❤
Maybelline is my favourite drugstore mascara, I always go back to their mascara.
And Carmex is my favourite lip balm, only thing that helps my very dry lips.
I used the Nivea, Clinique and Dove though at differing times.
That POND'S box 😮😍
I have used dove beauty soap bar Vaseline and navia cream and these products are amazing
I used to use MAC Salsa red in the 90’s-it was my signature color! I’m gonna check Ruby Woo out! I LOVE their neon pink Candy Yum Yum. It’s sooo obnoxious!
My lungs are prob lined with Aqua Net. High school in the 80’s we would carry a full can in our Esprit bags! Haha!
And that Dippity Do? Did you find that at a drug store? I have naturally curly hair and LOVE that line. I’m in WA and can only find it at TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and Ross…!
I love cherry chapstick. I use it as a lipstick because if the pinkish red color.
Did you know that you can use Carmex on a breakout in a pinch? The original formula contains salicylic acid, a known acne ingredient.
Vaseline has save my gnarly cracked feet, I just slather on a layer and throw some socks on for the day. After doing that for a least a week, my feet are so soft and pretty! So it's a daily ritual for me.
So much fun traveling with you down cosmetics memory lane.
Very good video Laura, I have the Maybelline mascara and the Ruby woo from Mac and they are the best. ❤️❤️❤️
Loved this! Off and on since 1971 I have used Great Lash. I'm not sure if my sis has ever used any other brand! And Ponds, my grandma and my mom swore by it. I used it mostly for the fragrance because every time it makes me think of them!
HI LAURA , ANOTHER EXCELLENT VIDEO , I STILL USE THESE PRODUCTS , FUNNY HOW I GREW UP USING THESE ITEMS FROM MY MOM , OIL OF OLAY IS MY GO TOO, LOVE IT , OTHER CREAMS MAKE MY SKIN TOO GREASY , SO GREAT TO SEE ALL THESE PRODUCTS , THANK YOU LAURA ❤⚘👍 Biore strips i always use , they work so well , 👍👍
I used hair gel in the 80’s, I use great lash
,and revlon,
Laura I love how you decorate your room and background to match your videos. Very nice......
Thank you for your amazing videos. Hugs from Honduras.
Thank you ❤️❤️ be safe
I have used several of these products in my younger years such as the Neutrogena soap, Dippity Doo, Great Lash mascara, Clinique moisturizer, Coty airspun powder. I still use today Dove soap, Nivea hand cream, and Ponds cold cream to take my makeup off , and MAC lipsticks.
OK so after seeing this I think I will be buying 85% of everything featured!
Such a great presentation!
Loved this one ❤️
I love great lash I used it many years even through my high school years ,
Wonderful video! You've inspired me to try some of these iconic products, so thanks!
Lovely I love these videos! There really enjoyable to watch! ✨💞
I use Coty Airspun powder all the time, as well as the Clinique moisturizer. I also use Chanel No 5. and many vintage Revlon lipsticks. When younger, I used many of the products. I always hated the nasty Dippity Do (it ruined clean hair) and Chap stick, which I never thought went on smoothly at all. I prefer a moister lip balm. There are so many mascaras of better quality than Maybelline that I never use it, although it was the first one I tried when very young.
Great video! I miss the i-natural cosmetics line. I think it started out in the 1970's.
SUPERB!!!!!
Thanks for watching
i forgot to tell you that i have used all of the products you mentioned, with the exception of 2.
you're so wonderful. Keep up the good work!!!!
Great job! I’ve used most of those one time or another in my 60 years.
Have you tried rose tint Vaseline lip balm, it's one of my favourite products?
I like Boire too, very useful in the summer, because I wear glasses.
No I haven’t but I love the idea of it
I love the perfumes of Ponds Cold Cream, Olay and Nivea. They remind me of my mum. The other one is Astral Cream and Atrixo Hand Cream, both remind me of my gran.
I have used many of these products as did my Mom. Some I still use today. Thanks.
Olay was the first facial cream I used. I was about 13- that Cody powder I also used all through the 90's. I stopped because it seems like my color wasn't made anymore😔❤👍
Great video! Love a lot of these products! 😁
Thanks cara
Absolutely adore your channel! The history is amazing! And all the examples
Just discovered your channel.✨ love the videos.
Thanks so much so glad you found me
Thank you for your nostalgic videos. Do you know if the Coty Powder has talcum powder in it?
I was wondering have you ever done a video on organic vegan makeup? Would be an interesting video to do, just the research alone is curious investigation journey to go into. :)
Love my Dove Beauty Bar. The mango 🥭 is sooo good. My whole family uses it.
I only wash my face with Dove soap (the white bar) and I use ponds face cream day and night. An incredible pair.
I love Nivea Creme! Thanks for the video! :)
Me too it’s so good
Great video!💖💖💖
I am a huge Clinique fan now!! Sorry Avon.
Whoa whoa whoa... that woman in the Ponds ad, what did she do with that ax?
J adore la Nivea 👍👍
I owe my good skin to Good genes, clean living, and Oil of Olay 😄 I also use a lot of Nivea.
But you skipped Pears soap! It's the only soap my ginger skin will tolerate!
Great tutorial! Laura, can you do a spread on famous soaps like ivory and Camay. Thanks!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!
