- A full analysis of the final possession of the incredible France v Wales game on Super Saturday of the 2021 Six Nations. In this short video I break down how France manipulated the Welsh defence and used their numerical advantage to score in overtime.

Fickou is kind of the hero in this one, he has an exterior run but takes one step towards the inside shoulder of the welsh defender, so he’s late for what’s next and he makes the last defender slightly turn, so he can’t drift properly anymore
totally agree
Fickou slowing down subtly before he passes was a beautiful piece of rugby, I can't stop watching it. Thank you for the brilliant video, cool to listen to and informative, thanks!
If you look carefully, you see that Fickou goes very quickly from the right side to the left side of the pitch, and that is what creates the overlap and the try.
And Fickou then slows down the pass to complete the 3 over 2. Great cold thinking from Fickou.
And Fickou touches the ball 4 times on this action...huge !
As a French supporter I enjoyed that match and your explanation is excellent
Great analysis. Thanks to Serin and Fickou. Serin is great for managing the rythm (that makes him a great complement to Dupont), and you can see at 2:03 that he takes his time to announce the combination to come. Fickou is there, but then he replaces close to the backs on the opposite side of the pitch, where the game has to be. Then Fickou is clinical in the execution. Great rugby IQ !
For laymen like me, who fail to perceive how a team's moves are "structured", as you put it, such analyses are priceless. Thanks for the good work.
Two great teams, amazing match !
As an Englishman we support two teams England and who ever is playing Wales, so congratulations to France 👍
funny cause as a frenchman we support 2 teams : France and whoever is playing against England... ;)
@@Kiruthmania no you dont
At least I do
@@Kiruthmania ofc we do!
I do too
You forgot the last little step inside by fickou that fixed north.. without it I think it can be much more complicated. Nice video
I thought the way the French backs ran straight and only gave the pass once the defenders were committed was a lesson in how to score from a simple overlap. Its what you're taught from the get go, and yet seemingly so rare in internationals!
Heartbreaking from a Welsh point of view but well executed and respect shown at the end is great 👍
Just found your channel, fantastic stuff. Keep up the really good work
Useful analysis. Great job.
Magnifique
Very good analysis
Very good analysis.
Good job dude !
In french, we call what did fickou: temporizing . And god he did it so well ♥️
Merci !
Nice to see another team 'blow it' instead of England for a change.
Thx for the explanation
To me the play is made 90% by the forwards 9% by Ollivon. The French captain initiate the sequence perfectly by fixing three players given his penetrating ability and the fact that he hides his intention by keeping his shoulders square while quick passing the ball to Fickou.
You should make subtitles (in english), it can be useful for people like me who doesn't understand english very well
Being a English fan it was great to see the welsh get beat to shut them up! Played piss poor rugby all tournament and their luck ran out
no way did they play piss poor. Easily 2nd best team. What you mean is England played piss all tournament- poor discipline.
@@penguinguy50 they were lucky against every team apart Italy! End of
@@penguinguy50 I'd argue Ireland were the real 2nd best team this tournament. Their forwards were phenomenal. No red for 60 minutes against Wales and if they had Sexton against France, who knows what would have happened.
Spoken like a true football fan. The top four teams were very close. The other two not so much. I'll let you figure out who the other two teams are Mark Taylor
Wales did have a fair bit of luck in the tournament but luck does come and go. That penalty to take Wales to 30 should have been a penalty try and 34. Having said that it's not Frances fault and congrats
And the welsh try was blocked by a french hand. And the idiot ref still called it a try even with the damn VAR
yeah I'm not sure the refereeing has been very favorable to the French on that game. Navidi's try where he crawls is dubious at best. Chat dotted the ball on the line at the 72nd, but Pearce refused to even have a look. Adams' try is equally dubious. France has structural linguistic disadvantage when talking with refs, we will never have a smooth talker like Waburton or McCaw capable of changing a ref's mind because non-native speakers under physical stress can not be as subtle in their communication.
🇫🇷😊👍
From Wales to France, how does it feel😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that last Scottish try😉😉😉😉😉😉😉 your players looked like ours against you.
it feel better than a welsh try...
At least we didn’t lose a grand slam from it..
@@ryanbrimson8238 are you french? If so, when was your last title win, let alone grsmd slam!
@@drpaulvfr3597 Yes, and admittedly 2010, but we managed to beat Wales twice in a row now mate 😉 and has wales ever got past the semis of the World Cup? Whereas france have been in 3 FINALS
@@ryanbrimson8238 twice in a row eh!! You must be pleased 😂😂😂😂😂.how many people live in france?? 3.5m in wales! Go figure! We have 3 grand slams, and the title how many times since you won it??????? Please try harder.😊😊
There are a lot of people calling themselves fans and being abusive. Your not rugby fans so please go back to football. No place for abusive little boys in rugby
Congratulations Scotland
et maintenant a l’Écosse :) allez les bleu....
13 against 14... Holes in the defence is obvious. Especially with a french team who was in a "revolution mode".
I'm quite fluent in english, but please slow down your accent and the speed of your speaking. Otherwise, your analysis, will remind for brexiters (as we call you know, on the other side of the Channe

You can slow down the video speed a notch, from normal to 0.75 and enjoy the analysis.

I'm also french and quite fluent in english and have no problem understanding him. You should listen a bit more to english.
you're really not fluent in English if you can't understand that
