- You can learn how to Crochet this Sweet Simple Handbag in this DIY tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. This is a good beginner purse, tote, or bag to start with, if you know the chain and single crochet stitch. This is crocheted in the round (specifically in a spiral) and then the straps are added at the end. In this video you will also learn how to use magnetic snaps, which are a great alternative to just a button or a zipper. Because the hand bag is crocheted with 2 strands of yarn held together, it is very sturdy, durable, and does not need a lining.

I love this purse. I am making one in light blue and light green for my Summer attire. I am using a shiny glitter crochet thread that I found in the bundled "ends" bin. Not sure what it is but it is really pretty and thin. I wanted a bit more strength in my purse so I am using it in the blue sections and started the blue for the bottom base. I'm going to crochet three rows of the blue, the width of the purse to sew inside to keep things from sliding out of the bottom. Sometimes I will make a liner but most of what I carry is in a make up case to prevent it from sliding out of the holes. When I am done I am going to make the same purse but use the green as the base with the threads for my sister - her fav color is green, mine is blue. Perfect match for both of us!! Veru nice handbag. I have a question, can I use thicker yarn instead of using two yarns like you?
I generally use the 2 strands for sturdiness, as opposed to thickness. As long as your thicker yarn is sturdy, as opposed to soft, smooth and/or fluffy, it should serve the same purpose.
I love this. Do you treat some ways so that it doesn’t attract dirt or stains?
I do not treat mine. I use either acrylic or nylon, since both are very easy to spot clean (or even hand wash).

They aren't very noticeable but whatever are there are hidden by the lining I have inside the bag.

Can i make this with one thick/chunky yarn strand or i still need to use two strands?
You can use one strand of the thick/chunky/bulky yarn instead of the 2 strands of medium weight yarn.

I just want to make sure that it is okay to use acrylic yarns when making bags. I don't necessarily have to use cotton. Is this correct? Also, thank you for sharing this tutorial.
The yarn I use in my video is 100% acrylic yarn, so yes it is perfectly fine.

The multiple is an odd number of stitches.
