    I have been cross stitching for over ten years and have always shied away from patterns with back stitching because I was intimidated by the added complexity, but I feel so much more confident now after watching this. Thanks for the tips!

    First of all thank You for the “positivity” of the video…..Secondly allowing the crafter “choices” as to how and when they proceed with backstitching on their piece of work…..the image of the back work as “modern art” is pure permission to relax and enjoy the process….and not stress out…..there is a “rhythm” ….a “meditative” feel to this work ……

    Thank you for the info on using longer stitches! I'm not afraid of back stitching, but didn't realize that longer stitches were even a thing!

      I love long stitches, they look so much better (imho) and create a pencil stroke-like effect. I much prefer it to the classic short backstitch 😊

    This is a brilliant tutorial. I did not find anything which explained so clearly how to follow the backstitch lines on patterns when I started that journey. And the encouragement you give Marie, not to be afraid of it, is inspiring. Well done 👏Thanks, Úna

    this is the best video I've seen on how to back stitch. I had no idea this is how it is done, I am so happy to have found this video as I avoid any projects that require back stitching and now I won't have to. Thank you so posting this.

    CCS to the rescue again! Thanks to CCS videos, I learned how to cross-stitch earlier this year. This video is perfect timing because I just started my largest project (not a CCS pattern) and there is a TON of back stitching. The tips in this video will definitely come in handy. Great job, Marie!

    Wonderful tutorial. I know I can do it now. I was hoping you would have demonstrated how to back stich on a project that was done in all tent/half stitches. Please let me know if you have a video on how it looks and is done. I didn't see one. Thanks

    I never go in the half and if I did my back stitching would be better, thanks for the tip. How a bout a pin stitch on linen. Do you wash the project again after back stitching?

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  2 года назад +2

      Hi Karen,
      thanks so much for watching, glad you found it helpful! 😊
      I don't tend to do pin stitch with backstitch because it would be quite visible. I always start backstitch at the back of the project because I have existing stitches I can use to anchor the thread. This is completely a personal choice, no rights or wrongs here! If you wanted a pin stitch tutorial, we have a detailed how-to in a video called 4 ways to start a thread.
      If the project was dirty, I would gently wash it in soapy water but I generally try not to wash projects after they've been backstitched. That's why I wash it in soapy water beforehand and after backstitch I would only lightly spray with water & quickly steam iron it to get rid of any hoop marks. That's just my general preference and I would readjust depending on what the individual project needs.
      Hope this helps!
      Happy stitching 🌸

    New to cross stitch...I keep counting wrong what type of magnifier do I need....

    • @CaterpillarCrossStitch
      @CaterpillarCrossStitch  2 года назад +2

      Hi Busy Bee, thanks for watching! There are may magnifiers on the market, you may want to check the Ottlight or Daylight company for a lamp with magnifying glass. You can also check on your local Amazon but I don't recommend buying anything that doesn't have excellent reviews.
      If counting in general is an issue, I would recommend our video all about tips on not making counting mistakes here: ruclips.net/video/F9Gcz-XBkY4/видео.html
      Hope this helps!
