Whip + Hollow Heart (Black Heart) Magic Wand + Magic Tome (Red Book) Knife + Bracer Axe + Candelabrador (Candles) Cross + Clover King Bible (Blue Book) + Spellbinder (Gold X) Fire Wand + Spinach Garlic + Pummarola (Red Heart) Peachone + Ebony Wings (White and Black Birds, making this opens another weapon slot) For the easiest run, you want the Fire Wand, Axe, King Bible, Garlic, Birds, and Runetracer (evolve the 5 weapons, don't get Runetracer until after birds evolve). You'll also want to pick up a Bracer and Duplicator as your 2 free accessories. If you play on Hyper Library (maybe the normal one as well) going 5 "screens" to the left gives you the Magic Book (Red Book) and 5 "screens" to the right (or 10 after getting the book) gives you the mask that adds extra gold (these items will just be sitting around waiting to be picked up, so you can have 7 accessories in the library)

Just a heads up, the speed upgrade is by far the weakest except in the most extreme circumstances. It basically never helps because any time you would use it to run away you should be using to kill more enemies instead so you can progress faster. The game design in this game is very tight and you can always expect there to be plenty of enemies close to you. Moving faster won't help in the long run and making holes always beats weaving through them. :) Still very good first few tries, awesome seeing you do this game, it's fun as hell.
I've also found exp and health items to be very weak unless you need them for an evolution. In short... do more damage to survive better and collect more.
@@SpudRusset He's pretty good in library since you can immediately get a level from the gem to the northwest. If you get runetracer, garlic, or cross from it you're basically set for the early game. Fire wand, magic wand, bible, and santa water are also okay if you get those instead. Late game he's basically the best, because he gets 3 extra projectiles at lv 60. (1 every 20, max 3) Which affects most weapons.
@@skiefyre123 Yeah, armor, regeneration, max health and health stealing, for the most part, is pointless. DPS rules all. It's nice to have enough regen from perks so that you can recover from the occasional hit, but any item slot spent on one of those effects would be better spent on more damage.
hey DF, a little tip for how to get even more insane weapons, you need specific items to evolve your weapons like max level axe and max level candelabrador for for giant sycthe, same with the fairy wand which you max level empty tome to evolve into holy wand
The ones I know off the top of my head are: - Whip -> Bloody Tear requires Hollow Heart - Garlic -> Soul Eater requires Pummarola - Fire Wand -> Hellfire requires Spinach - Axe -> Death Spiral requires Candelabrador - Magic Wand -> Holy Wand requires Empty Tome - King Bible -> Unholy Vespers requires Spellbinder - Peachone + Ebony Wings, both maxed level, become Vandalier - Knife -> 1,000 Edges (?) requires Bracer I don't remember what Cross needs All of these, unless specifically mentioned, only require you to have the passive - level does not matter for the passive. Additionally, these evolutions can only happen at chests that drop from elites spawned after 10 or more minutes have passed.

I bought the game in large part because of you. I got 100% achievement, killed the Reaper without cheating to unlock the final secret character, went for some high scores, and did a bunch of silly challenge like "don't move whatsoever". This game is great. I'm now watching your videos again with the new perspective of someone who's played way too much of this game.
I groaned so hard. I've done that a few times myself and it hurts so much. I usually like to wiggle back and forth or do circles when things are that overwhelming to try and clear a little pocket but sometimes it just isn't enough.
@@DonOblivious I always make sure I have a time stop or a screen clear for my endgame. Preferably a time stop very close to a screen clear so I can easily move towards it. Makes those last 30 seconds so much easier knowing you can just skip them basically.

not really, it just kills you so fast, except if u manage to freeze the reaper using clock lancet. someone even got to 39min which is 10 reapers and each 1 minute after 30 minute mark, 1 reaper appears

It's Candelabrador, which is just Italian for candelabra. Also, from experience, getting garlic early is REALLY GOOD and it evolves with Pummarola, which is tomato in the Neapolitan dialect of Italian, other parts of Italy say pomodoro. The dev's Italian, if you didn't know lol

You can actually get more than 6/6 if you get a legendary chest, there's a small chance oooor... if you find items in the map (Like the library has a stone mask and an empty tome depending which way you go). If you grab the items after your fill your bar to max, it adds them onto the end.

There’s an android mobile game almost exactly the same to this but its completely free. Its called magic survival I dunno which came first tho, i expect magic survival to have been made earlier.
It's so great to see you picking up this game DF, I'm all for seeing you discover things by yourself. But there's 2 beginner tips which you might want to know: 1- It's best to priorize upgrading what you already have than going for early variety. That is, don't rely on a single weapon, but don't take a lot of different things at the start. 2- To get the Upgraded Weapons you just got you need a weapon+item synergy: for the axe it was axe+candelabrador and for the fire wand it was fire wand+spinach. And you need to max out the weapon. Once you do, just open a chest and you'll get the evolved weapon.
'these little guys with guitares' ->they are witches on brooms! but thanks for the laugh. and a little clarification about the weapon upgrades: first the weapons need to be max level and then the upgrade can be found in chests, but it is just added to the pool so no guarantees how many chests you need to open to find one. second you also need to have a specific item corresponding to each weapon, currently only the birds have the second bird weapon as item for all others its an item.

Hey DF, not that it means much in the current state of the game, but I am holding the World Record for the most Gold earned in a run (20.2k) and I think it would be a fun idea if you would give it a go. As said, it doesnt mean much and the record will be broken most likely very soon, but I know a thing or two about such runs. If you are interested to give it a go, I'd love to give some insight on how I do it - though there are probably a lot of other ways to do it as well. If you dont have the time or writing back and forth is too annoying, I also upload the runs and made a guide to explain what I do why. It's not a full coverage and I can't respond, but I think it could make for a great video! Edit: Just for anyone wondering, if you join the official discord linked in the game, there will be a channel called "challenges-and-high-scores" which will lead to a website. There you can submit runs. You have to provide video evidence for top runs.
Bible + Spellbinder - Axe + Candle - Garlic + Regen Heart = the base of most good runs. Take Cross and Clover, Magic wand and Tome - let the AoE flow through you
if you get certain pairs of items, you get special evolved weapons (ex: when you got the evolved blue wand and it said "requires empty tome" it means it wouldn't be evolved without the empty tome item). the special maxed axe that you got is actually an evolved weapon and one of the better ones. the whip and garlic have an evolved version that both have life steal and does a lot better damage. there are some that i believe don't require a specific item or that require the same item as other evolved weapons but they're all op.
I finally just got into this game because of the Castlevania update, and it is absolutely incredible. Also, Sonia Belmont getting her time to shine again is wonderful. Especially since she is ungodly strong. Good to have you back, girl!
actives: garlic, book, white/black bird (turns into 1 at max upgrade), runetracer, lightning ring, santa water passives: red heart, candelab, duplicator, dmg leaf, spellbinder, magnet if you play on library you can get the book for free when you have 6 passives if you walk to the left (also coin mask if you walk to the right) so you can have 8 passives there ;).. try it! i call it the Social Distancing build

I bought this game after watching this, took me around 10 hours to get all the achievements. There is one character that I think is OP, and its kinda surprising who it is, but imma leave that for others to find out :D
Garlic is even better than you think. It actually passively increases all of your knockback effects, very good for helping you survive even in situations where it isn't doing much damage.
Andrew Callaghan (of AllGasNoBrakes fame) is now working under "Channel 5 News" which is also incredible, hilarious, and well-produced. It was bizarre to see that reference on this channel, lol, but I love it.
i realy love you oblivious approach, reminds me of my first few runs... now with 40+ hours in, this reminds me of the mechanics i didnt understand at first.
You've probably figured this out by now, but the key is combos. Getting no reload on my wand was the difference between 100 coins per run and 1200 coins per run. They are 100% worth it in most cases and 2 or more can easily get you to 200
Its these kinds of games that are of my favorites for DF to play (bullet hell, kill everything). Others are adventure like Grounded, and mission-focused like the cat fishing or even the stranded island castaway game that was silly and let DF be all witty. Game-breaking is the exception that I love with all games.

Speed is required on skellyboy because of his pitiful early game. If you don’t have at least the permanent speed on level 1 he’s near unplayable

2- To get the Upgraded Weapons you just got you need a weapon+item synergy: for the axe it was axe+candelabrador and for the fire wand it was fire wand+spinach. And you need to max out the weapon. Once you do, just open a chest and you'll get the evolved weapon.

and a little clarification about the weapon upgrades:
first the weapons need to be max level and then the upgrade can be found in chests, but it is just added to the pool so no guarantees how many chests you need to open to find one.
second you also need to have a specific item corresponding to each weapon, currently only the birds have the second bird weapon as item for all others its an item.
And hey DF again, but I made a full depth guide on all weapons/items/evolved items in the game, as well as what changes with each level up a weapon gets. It's a longer video, but I will talk about each of them a bit and as said, shows all of the stuff available.

Hey DF, not that it means much in the current state of the game, but I am holding the World Record for the most Gold earned in a run (20.2k) and I think it would be a fun idea if you would give it a go. As said, it doesnt mean much and the record will be broken most likely very soon, but I know a thing or two about such runs. If you are interested to give it a go, I'd love to give some insight on how I do it - though there are probably a lot of other ways to do it as well. If you dont have the time or writing back and forth is too annoying, I also upload the runs and made a guide to explain what I do why. It's not a full coverage and I can't respond, but I think it could make for a great video!
Edit: Just for anyone wondering, if you join the official discord linked in the game, there will be a channel called "challenges-and-high-scores" which will lead to a website. There you can submit runs. You have to provide video evidence for top runs.

if you get certain pairs of items, you get special evolved weapons (ex: when you got the evolved blue wand and it said "requires empty tome" it means it wouldn't be evolved without the empty tome item). the special maxed axe that you got is actually an evolved weapon and one of the better ones. the whip and garlic have an evolved version that both have life steal and does a lot better damage. there are some that i believe don't require a specific item or that require the same item as other evolved weapons but they're all op.

I finally just got into this game because of the Castlevania update, and it is absolutely incredible.
Also, Sonia Belmont getting her time to shine again is wonderful. Especially since she is ungodly strong. Good to have you back, girl!

if you play on library you can get the book for free when you have 6 passives if you walk to the left (also coin mask if you walk to the right) so you can have 8 passives there ;)..

I bought this game after watching this, took me around 10 hours to get all the achievements. There is one character that I think is OP, and its kinda surprising who it is, but imma leave that for others to find out :D
I found that the lightning dude was crazy op when you max garlic, holy book, and lightning + AOE increase and CD reduction
Garlic is even better than you think. It actually passively increases all of your knockback effects, very good for helping you survive even in situations where it isn't doing much damage.
Andrew Callaghan (of AllGasNoBrakes fame) is now working under "Channel 5 News" which is also incredible, hilarious, and well-produced. It was bizarre to see that reference on this channel, lol, but I love it.

This game got me back into indie dungeon runners they’re the greatest time killer ever, also u can get trapped in them just as easy.
You've probably figured this out by now, but the key is combos. Getting no reload on my wand was the difference between 100 coins per run and 1200 coins per run. They are 100% worth it in most cases and 2 or more can easily get you to 200
Its these kinds of games that are of my favorites for DF to play (bullet hell, kill everything). Others are adventure like Grounded, and mission-focused like the cat fishing or even the stranded island castaway game that was silly and let DF be all witty. Game-breaking is the exception that I love with all games.

tip if you have a max embony wing and peachone they evolve into the Vandalier which requires the eboney wing and the peachone you cant just get the vandalier without ebeony wing or peachone
