Is the Sea Hunt Gamefish 25 any good in rough seas?

- Today I show you the Sea Hunt Gamefish 25 in rough seas, which is a question I see asked quite a bit on the Sea Hunt Facebook page. I am here to tell you the Sea Hunt Gamefish 25 handles exceptionally well in rough seas. We have been out in the Sea Hunt Gamfish 25 quite a few times when the seas were exceptionally rough, however the Sea Hunt Gamefish 25 always feels safe, no matter how rough the seas are, which is the most important thing!

I'm telling you, I've been on Seahunts 22 to 30' and everyone is dry and smooth ride. I've been in every condition. Best design hull for production boat hands down.
I would agree with you on that. I've never felt like we weren't in control on this boat and we've been in some sketchy stuff
Looked like a pretty smooth ride to me with no pounding.
It is one of the smoothest riding boats out there ! We have never felt unsafe in any seas in it !
Could be wrong, but I feel a little more speed and some tab would've yielded a better ride. Currently looking at the 27 cb, so it's good to see they're capable in some snotty weather.
It's tough on video to convey how nasty it really was BUT the moral of the story is it definitely can handle some snotty weather!
If your comfort zone is two footers with a occasional 4 you should invest in some wings. Minimal screws you have to add and boy do they protect you and your electronics/gear on leaning post from that salt spray. Looks good. Wish we could grab a 27', love the layout.
We have seriously considered some wings...there are some days when we CAN make it out, but the spray/wind just makes it miserable on the ride in/out lol.
Nice demo. Haven't had my GF out in conditions like that yet, but good to know she can handle it!
This was a pretty nasty day but if it wasn't for the wind we probably could have gone a tad faster. The best thing is she rode nice and soft, and we felt completely safe which is the most important thing!!!
Looks like a nice ride. My sea hunt 210 triton is a rough ride in those conditions. Safe but rough.
Just had some first timers ride on it yesterday in some nasty conditions and they commented on the ride! It's very nice for a 25' boat !!!
@@NickeeGee I’m upgrading after this season. The GF25 is definitely on my list of candidates. 👍🏼
@@Bostonharborwater what ya upgrading from?
@@NickeeGee 21’ sea hunt cc.
@@Bostonharborwater doh I'm a bozo you already has said it haha. I'm sure you'll be impressed with the GF25
I have the GF27 and like the ride but hate the layout with mezzanine seating. Looking to get the new Sportsman 282 or 302 open because of the layout and fishability. Hopefully rides and is as dry as my GF27
I'm very curious to see how those ride. I've heard the sportsman's don't ride as nice as the sea hunts but I'm sure the sportsman guys say the same about the sea hunts haha. I do wish the 25's came without a forward seating option and also wish they had some in floor fishboxes.
@@NickeeGee me too but can't ever seem to find a 302 to do a sea trial
@@GD_Golf boat market is brutal right now for everything!!!
funny. i originally wanted the sportsman open 302 or the new 282. went down to thunder marine and they wouldn't take me out on a sea trial until i had set up financing. next day at the boat show (in June) i saw the guys from pro marine right down the street from thunder. asked if i had to get financing in order first before a sea trial and he laughed and said hell no, come on out tomorrow and we'll take you out on a 27. i did. put an order in for a 27GF and it'll come in February. amazing what happens when you treat people well.
@@john848sbk1 just had a similar conversation with a buddy of mine. Talking about people helping people and man that's what it's all about!
There is a best speed (to cruise) for every kind of rough seas!
You got that right!
Great video. How shallow of water can you fish with the motors trimmed up? Also hows the SH holding up?
You can totally fish the flats, 2ft of water and still be able to idle out comfortably. So far the boat has held up great! There's a few chips in the Gel coat(from our own abuse), the transom door magnet is completely rusted out and a couple of the pumps need replaced but other than that everything's been great!
Be safe out there....
Yes sir always! We definitely know our limit haha
What is the biggest difference in the 27. Where is the extra 18 inches? Is the 27 worth it?
So the biggest difference, would be the fact you can get the 27 with a coffin box. The beam is also 7" wider so theoretically it is going to be more stable comparable to the 25. I've seen 25's and 27's side by side and the 27's do have slightly more room. It's not substantial, but if we were to do it all over again, we'd most likely get a 27 coffinbox more so for the fishability up front, and just the additional room in the back. I hope that answers your question and feel free to ask any more !
You went out I would've turned around and went back in
Haha it was pretty rough, thankfully this was only like 10 miles out.
Do you tow with a half ton or what? If so how’s she do?
Ram 2500 with the Cummins, feels like nothing is behind the truck. I think you could get the job done with a half-ton no problem though!
10/4, definitely looking to purchase one, I have a half ton. I’m sure it could do it but I don’t want to put that load on it so much.
@@stormythomas2483 how long you plan on hauling it? I saw someone post last night a full of fuel Gamefish 27 and no gear sitting at 9700lbs. It would definitely be close. I think the 25's are about 1000lbs lighter.
I’ve got a hr and 15 min drive to the ramp, so it’s definitely going to take a toll on my truck. I haul a rzr24 sea hunt now
@@stormythomas2483 that is quite the haul man, would take a toll on a half ton
That’s not rough
Sorry you feel that way.
