Marty said in an interview i read (can't remember where) that this new album is the spiritual successor to Scenes. It has that sound, instrumentation, etc... wich is awesome, because it's my all time favorite album from MF. My mom likes country and pop, and she requests I play Scenes when I'm taking care of her. It's a relaxing album. Beautifully done.
It certainly does, I love that album. I remember special ordering that record on CD from HMV back in the early 90's I waited months for it to arrive. I still have it 2024!

Wonderfull riffs..Mister Martin Friedman. From Panama City. I listen your Long Play Cacophony and I hear in Megadeth A to le mont.
That's a great category! "Virtuoso melodist" style of playing is what I've always loved and aim to become, but couldn't describe it briefly. Marty is indeed one of the greatest virtuoso melodists guitar players ever!
Marty puts everything into every note, every nuance...it almost needs be slowed down to appreciate. He's not like other fast players who just trigger notes. Incredible feeling and beauty in his playing. And his pitch and vibrato...worth the ticket price alone. Inspiring!
His style is as iconic as any of the legendary players, Beck, May, Hendrix...because his style is HIS style. I know it's Marty from note one. Always unique, always killer.
I've always been a fan, so it's nice to see Marty getting the praise he deserves. He's one of my favorite guitarists of all time and I've been listening to them for more than 50 years now. I've already pre-ordered the album. I can't wait to hear more of this virtuosic musicianship. 🎸🤘✌️

Franchement,à croire que les gens d aujourd'hui n y connaissent strictement rien à la musique et tout particulièrement à la guitare,Marty Friedman est un " virtuose"et voir que cette chanson a été vue à peine 152 k.. pour moi,perso,c est comme donner de la confiture à des cochons..il à Carement changé de registre,c est un vrai "artiste"qui a largement sa place avec les plus grands noms de la guitare..j ai aimé cacophony, megadeth,mais là c est le summum,il sait jouer des trucs de virtuose..j adore..!!!!

Marty has the ability to write those chord progressions that no one else can. I am going to be critical here. I can't listen to this type of music for very long..It's soloing for 6 or 7 minutes. I have aged, and it would have been perfect when I was younger.

I'm not sure if Marty listened to much Beck, although they have some similar approaches to melody. I do know that Jason Becker was a huge Jeff Beck fan and it shaped his approach to melody while Marty influenced him and vice versa - so there might be some overlap.
Either way, it's awesome to hear new Marty stuff, especially like this.
