As the weird kid who keeps bugs as pets, I can say with absolute certainty, that Invader Zim smells like bugs - isopods to be exact. Isopods have a very distinct, earthy smell, especially when there's a lot of them in one place and as a bug keeper you know that smell probably very well. It's not unpleasant, just a little weird and it makes you think of bugs instantly. Invader Zim smells like a colony of isopods. Also, I am so glad I am not the only one who pondered about his smell.

Zim absolutely has a smell, and so does Dib (not the same smell). For some reason watching the show as a kid I would get these faint smells in my nose that I associated with the characters. It’s not a smell I have a name for, it’s just a Smell. And this didn’t happen with any other shows, either.

I think an Irken would smell like some mix of an electrical fire and cucumber juice. The smell that would come off would probably be so otherworldly and foreign that it could not possibly be described with words and hard to determine and whether or not it's a pleasant smell.
THE WET POOL SHIRT ONE OMG It would smell like a bit of sweet perfume, chlorine water and wet fabric! Clean, sweet but still weirdly damp and savory. Only thing I could add to that is the light (or not so light) smell of glue and sugar (because I think that zim consuming sweets would influence his overall smell)

I was thinking of this the other day I know what he smells like but it's very particular and ill need to smell things to find out what specifically. Without testing what the smell in my head is, I'm guessing it is: vinyl, wet storebought tofu, a brand new dollarstore sponge that just got wet for the first time, or plastic. Whatever of these it is, there is also a subtle hint of the smell of sweaty but odorless skin that is very clean and add a hint of wet flowerpot soil. All smells mentioned are very mild and unobtrusive but don't really smell like anything we'd be super familiar with (hence it's hard to tell which it is). I think his sweat might smell how i imagine battery acid does, (despite knowing it doesn't actually smell like that): spicy and acidic, like the scent of chili powder mixed with that lemonjuice/extract you buy at the store in a plastic lemon-shaped bottle. (Never ever drink those btw, they are hell).

Okay, I've had another thought of what Zim smells like! Pretty much...Disinfected blood. seriously just windexy blood, not like dried musty blood tho, but fresh blood that still has that faint sweet aroma with copper and windex. Because of Irken's diets. When we see them eat, it's usually something sweet. So, I just thought that a mix of metal, cleaning supplies, and something sweet(and the faint scent of nachos) would smell reminiscent of blood.
