The fact that the Hee-Hee Horsepower Lady was smiling and laughing really alleviated my worries.
Now I wanna go even more
She's { Perhaps } unaware of Western cultural sensitivities. 🤦🍱🍶👯♀️🐎
Too cute
It heightened mine, I thought she was going to tell me that I'm next
I'm in looooove!

-just a little bit *continues speaking perfect english*
hahaloves Most people are like that in Japan.
Matt Henik most non native English speakers are like "I'm not very good" but when I talk to those people their better at English than some people I know
Even the accent was on point, I don't get it.

I love Japan.
I am Polish. Japan saved 765 Polish orphans in 1920 and 1922. Around 1920, there were about 200,000 Polish in Siberia. Most of them died. Poland has asked various countries to save Polish orphans in Siberia. But all countries refused to rescue. Poland finally commissioned Japan to rescue Polish orphans. The Japanese emperor and empress at the time immediately ordered the Japanese to save the Polish orphans.Japan soon began rescue Polish orphans. The orphan was in Siberia. Japanese continued to rescue Polish orphans in Siberia. The smallest orphan that Japan saved was a two-year-old child. The orphan was crying near her dead mother. The Japanese immediately rescued the orphan. Polish orphans were sent to Japan for treatment. Japan fed the Polish orphans a hot meal every day. All Polish orphans have recovered. Japan continued to love Polish orphans very much. All Japanese donated money to save Polish orphans. Polish orphans were always smiling. Japan has successfully returned 765 Polish orphans to Poland.
I will not forget this story. Thanks to Japan. God bless Japan.
@ken 77 that’s why 36,000 Japanese soldiers did the snow sculpture of the Polish palace at Sapporo festival

I literally died of laughter!
I laughed so HARD, then scrolled down to the comments to find a comment about it. I'm not sure why Chris didn't burst out laughing uncontrollably ... I would have been on the floor. Her impression is totally meme worthy.

as Ryotaro skips away majestically back to RyotaroLand
InJapanクリス the idea of a Ryotoroland is slightly terrifying, as it implies there are more wild Ryotoros, skipping around, singing about the virtues of German sausages
Yep

@@calliejohnston9489 terrifying or amazing?

She was like 50.
so?
And she looked 35...and i'm 53, and going to Japan in three weeks. :)
... And Ryotaro was never seen again after happily skipping away through the nightlife of Hachinohe. Legend says he is living in a ranch in Argentina, others say you can see him skipping on water through the sunrise, but i like to believe he is somewhere in Mexico discovering tacos for the first time in his life.
Wherever you are, Ryotaro of the disturbing laugh, you are remembered as a gentleman and a scholar. :')

I love when Japanese try and speak English. They try and make a joke in English to help kill the awkwardness. Of course, ends up 100x more awkward and strange. And very funny.
It's so cute though, I love them for it even if it's awkward
Do you mean Japanese people not just Japanese as the one word on it's own is just a language🤨 lol
Lol just remember they might think the same about us. :)
There are many English sounds that don't exist in Japanese. One example is the "ir" sound as in "bird." The closest Japanese sound is "ar" as in "hard." That's why "bird" comes out sounding like "bard" when many Japanese say it.
it's like my mom trying to have smalltalk with foreigners (for example on vacation) even though her english isn't that good.
Ryotaro: "Why are you moving away from me?"
this has the same energy as the "WHY ARE YOU RUNNING. WHY.ARE.YOU.RUNNING." meme

She thinks the ceiling is the "wall" so not quite so fluent...
@@anneonimous9306 I mean a ceiling is technically a wall if you use the term connotatively. Besides, being called “fluent” in a language doesn’t mean perfect & without mistakes. I’m a native English speaker even though I occasionally use bad grammar.

If you are sitting a bit demotivated infront of your Japanese stuff for the exam tomorrow, needing a good excuse for a break, and suddenly the notification is popping up. Perfect timing, thank you!
Vanessa Hunnius lol I have a Japanese exam tomorrow too, the video game at a good time haha
Vanessa Hunnius yeah. This channel (plus the fact my grandma speaks next to no english!) have been my biggest drives for learning japanese!
Vanessa Hunnius my main drive has been the idea I can talk to people over in Japan, I had a good host family and a lot of exchange students I want to get to know better. Videos like these always are pretty motivating to go to Japan again :)
Good luck on the exam tomorrow!
Kotegawa Yui Senpai Yeah, those videos (or better the channel itself) has also helped to motivate me. And here I am years after watching the first clips. Sitting in my Japanese dorm and preparing for an exam like all the other Japanese student. 😀
Ryotaro: "Mackerel on a stick"
Abroad: "he can't make it sound nicer..."
Ryotaro: "how would you say it nicer?"

Thank you for a new descriptor for sales when restaurants open again 😂
Reminds me of Vlad the impaler hah
That sounds like a great engrish menu
You left out the part where it was ripped into pieces. If anything it has to be named Mauled and Impaled Mackerel.
"Come over here and actually eat the food!"
Me, sadly slurping my instant ramen made in my dorm room microwave: I'd sure like to, Ryotaro...
Une Pomme de Terre Well take his advice and go over there.
Ryotoro's London accent is always brilliant. I loved hearing him exclaim "what a muppet" - glorious. Looking back over my comments I mostly seem to just really enjoy you and your friends insulting each other.
The problem is that people travel to Japan without English subs, remember to turn them on in the settings at the airport when you land people...
Right!?!? It's common sense..lolol
What's English subs?
If only
English subs are giant metallic underwater ships who can shoot torpedos.
Nah can't wait for the subs just go Raw>skip & fast forward and next time you go to Japan the subs will be ready.
I love how Ryotaro sounds more Japanese the drunker he gets 😂

The pub owner is so cute her horse impersonation was everything😆😂
The horse power woman got me in tears. I had described it the exact same way 😂

You make outstanding quality videos. I always forget I’m watching RUclips. They feel and look like a travel series on television. The work you put into them really shows through. You are a very talented film maker and I always look forward to the next episode, I mean video.
"I have a pen, I have a bag!! Ugnnn. Bag peenn!" I want me some friends like that
I love how in all cultures you find some of the best places; food and drink in holes in the walls, kind of secluded in alleyways. Hidden gems or deliciousness.
I like it when you do videos with Ryotaro, he explains stuff so clearly and gives awesome info.

That moment in the ramen shop where Chris starts to laugh and smile shows he can be quite charming and content when not being sarcastic and dry with the humour. His drip was on point too
when I was in Shibuya, I went to this small back street restaurant where it seemed that alot of business men were going to after work, me and my group were the only westerners in there and after ordering and eating, an older japanese man walks over and taps me on the shoulder whilst holding a plate of mystery meat and says.... "present for you" and told me to try this mystery meat, and all the while his friends couldnt stop laughing, so, i tried it and asked him what it was, and he said chicken and grabbed his neck. It turned out to be chicken throat. we sat together and talked for awhile and had a great time.

@@bugeye8749 There's actually an extremely small vegan population in Japan, so most likely they wouldn't even think that a foreigner would be vegan.
Just came back from a 10 day trip and already miss Japan like crazy. Japanese are the BEST people. So genuine, modest, polite, patient and quirky. They seem to lack an ego, something a lot of western people have way too much of.
RJ couldn’t agree more
That's what's good about Denmark too...it's actually seen as socially unacceptable to be egotistical and you will be shunned for it. Maybe why they're considered some of the happiest people on Earth!
Ryotaro saying "You're a Muppet" at 6:35 is pretty funny, and how Chriss just dismisses it lol

My nightlife tip, don't go bar/club hopping, get drunk, and charge it all on your credit card. This guy that was staying at the hostel when I was in Tokyo was charged something like $2,000 US for a night on the town. He called his bank to tell them that he was overcharged and they told him that there was nothing they could do about it. Make sure you use cash only, and don't get so drunk that you cant read the bar bill to see if they are overcharging you or not.
Always. Use your debit card for getting cash anywhere. Never to pay for anything. Japan use cash always
I bet he was suckered into one of those girls bars, they'll always screw you over. Don't let the sketchy dudes on the streets on shinjuku convince you to go to one.
Those exist likely in every country on the planet. Try TJ or Ciudad Juarez. Manila , PI
