I have a Lefty video where he just ripped about 5/6 feathers from the skin and tied the clump directly on the rear of the hook He thought he got better action from the tail with this technique. Looked like hell it did wiggle and pulse more. Thanks for all the videos you guys do. Just google you. Saw your video on flares with tips. Going there now.

Good video. I'm looking to learn about tying teasers for fluke fishing in MA RI. The pattern looks good but no one seems to tie using 6/0 or larger hooks so I'm left without a good visual and without a source reference. I use 6/0 - 8/0 octoups, offset, wide gap hooks for bait fishing. I'm looking to tie a teaser which uses a hook that allows for a piece of bait to be added. Can you help me out?

Great question, the quick answer is it's up to the tyer. The longer potentially more contentious answer is that this fly was tied for striped bass and striped bass and other bass species don't seem to care about the eye as much as they do profile and movement. Get a room full of saltwater fly anglers and ask this question and you'll find yourself with an entertaining conversation!
