Its usually the colours lam family uses.. since this weapon set comes from a family (Yang Family) that are famous for spear techniques it would be really a red tassle like what a spear has... the story goes that almost the whole yang family died in a uneven battle and one of the surviving sons took shelter in a buddhist temple for that he had to remove the spear head... so he transformed the spear techniques into long pole techniques or at least mixed it up...the red tassle beneath the spear head was for either stopping the blood running down the pole or also to distract the opponents eyes...
