You can set wi-fi (and an SSH key) via the settings in the image flasher, rather than manually editing the .conf file. (Unless that only works for Raspbian / Pi OS images…)
This is an AWESOME camera project. The way you explain things and show how to do them is wonderful and i undrstand all of it. I would love it if you could do a dumbed down video of installing and configuring Home Assistant, as all i can find is a docker version and i am not a fan of docker cause its not always needed, it uses resouces that dont need to be used if you plan on just using a RPI for the project and thats all that is going to be run on that RPI.

Yeah, motion eye os stopped getting updates a few years back unfortunately, though in my experience it gets the job done. If you're using frigate, any OS that turns the camera into a RTMP server will work fine.
Really not recommended if you're going through the trouble of setting up Frigate. Just go POE. This here is unreliable and much closer to a toy than a proper system. Just buy a reolink camera if you don't want to do any research. Get a POE network switch, boom u're done. If you care so little about your security that you'd build this, why are you even using Frigate in the first place?
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that this camera is not even with commercial solutions and lacks frame rate and infrared capabilities when comparing it to cameras that you can buy online. However, this was never meant to replace a system 3 or even 4 times its price and is rather here to show that you can build a surveillance camera with electronics that can be easily found without missing out on too many features.

Nice, I just wish there was a more up to date repo to use. I tried looking but there's not many options with raspberry pi camera support.
