This is a very healthy video about how to deal with the realities of life. Not every person will get their dream school, no matter how competitive their application. Not every person will understand or appreciate it is honestly not about them. Sometimes it is just about chance, who reads your application and their mood that day, who else has applied who may have just pipped you to the post, or maybe just you not being the right “fit” for them. Whatever the case, it is not about you. You are still the same high achieving individual as you were before the rejection and you are still quite capable of finding what is the right next step for you - nothing, I repeat - nothing - has lessened your value to this world or what you have to contribute to it. Yes, it hurts and yes, it is healthy to live that hurt and not play it off, but it is also healthy to continue to value yourself and your successes and keep moving forward!!! Gutted for you Ibz but also proud of you for working through it and not giving up on yourself!!! You are still IBZ MY NUMBER ONE MAN!!!! Super proud of you and believe in you fully and with great celebration - Harvard or not!!! Still believe you are a fantastic role model for our young people and thank you for all you are and do.

You can be successful with or without your dream school, but I want to destroy this idea that perfect applicants get rejected. **People who are meant for their dream schools, get into their dream schools.** Sometimes being perfect in one area isn’t the best for a particular school. I just want to put out there that if you’re incredibly successful on your own, have well-intentioned connections to the school that match your expertise, and score high on standardized exams there’s literally no reason why an applicant reviewing your app would reject you. So it’s not black and white, it’s how long have you been dedicated towards wanting to study at this school. It can’t all necessarily come together within a year, and sometimes your reasons for wanting to go to your dream school are just terrible compared to people who are doing it to uplift their communities and support the world, Ibz even identifies his app wasn’t competitive. The right people do get into the right schools, and I’m happy Ibz took this as a learning opportunity to analyze the strengths & weaknesses of his app, good on him. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really seem like he cares too deeply, which is a good thing, and will allow him to work hard on continuing to grow himself.
Val I agree at the end of the day . It’s a school and Everyone around the world the chose the same subject is getting the getting the same degree . No one is any less smarter because they were rejected
Apply to Yale, you could still fulfill the “gilmore girls fantasy”.
Their management school got a 100 million donation to work on programs focused on education a few months ago 🤷🏽♀️. I actually think their campus is nicer than Harvard’s.
Yale is for kids who couldn’t get into Harvard lmao.

Remember that your application was rejected NOT YOU. Rejection can be a great thing, just learn from this and prove yourself in another way. Whether that be at another uni or job you can grow from this

I got rejected from dental schools last year and I spent the year as a gap year (I thought I’d travel and shit but corona happened 😭🤪)
Just know that it’s going to be okay! You have to take this opportunity and try go grow in a positive way so that one day you can thank the uni for rejecting you bc that helped you in ways you never thought it would.
May be something good is already planned for you by the Almighty....🙂🤞🏼
ahh I got rejected from medicine this year and have to take the autumn exams and have a gap year so it’s definitelyyy redirection but hopefully all will go well🥺🙏🏾

Uchisi good! I was downgraded 2 whole grades so I was rejected from my firm and insurance. But after the u turn my place at my firm choice was honoured.

can i just say i’m super impressed at how real he is about why he wants to go to Harvard. Harvard has always been my dream school and it’s series like gilmore girls that made me want to get in lolol and i’ve had so many people telling me that i dont have a reason that’s legitimate enough

i felt that Ibz!! you can’t take rejection so personally. I remember getting rejected from a uni I thought I was good enough for and it felt like a kick in the teeth for 17 yr old me, but now I look back and understand that it’s not personal. It was what was best for me, and the uni probably knew that more than I did. Anyways I just graduated from a uni that was perfect for me so 😙✌️

I needed to hear this. I’m applying to Harvard this autumn and am mainly scared of a rejection. This has made me think more positively about the experience as a journey, no matter the outcome, and if it’s a rejection, then I simply go down another path. Thank you

don't worry ibz! everybody has a 2% chance tops of getting into harvard, which only bumps up to 3% if you have a Nobel Prize under your belt. if your parents studied there however, it jumps up to 98%, which is why harvard doesn't nearly deserve someone as good as you. you didn't lose them, they lost you!

@@josephbrennan370Legacy doesn't count for much in college applications unless your parents are big donors (high 6 figures minimum). Then it'll make a difference.
@@hoixthegreat8359 no it makes chances for Harvard go from 4% to about 17% I read. That could in part be because the legacy applicants are more prepared since their parents went there, but idk

Really watched full ads for the first time in my life just for you. 3 minutes of my life spent on over the top ads but it was worth it
This really did come out at the perfect time. On a-leves results day, I got rejected from my dream uni but when the CAG grades were issued, I met the entry requirements. That chosen uni hasn't got back to me so I'm stuck with my insurance. Rejection is redirection as you said and I'm content compared to how I was a few weeks back
Honestly such an icon. Also feel sorry for oxbridge rejects too. This one girl I know at uni genuinely cried that she didn’t get in but her boyfriend did . People get so upset 😭. Glad you aren’t letting your rejection turn into something so upsetting ! Xx

Well at this point, I feel that you've won. My sister was planning to go Harvard University in United States but changed her mind to decided to apply to go to Cambridge, but then she changed her mind again and decided to go to Kings College in London 🙌☝🏾

The GRE was your downfall. You will have been compared to others who also took the exam. It was as you said, nothing to do with connections but your low scores. I agree, many chase the Oxbridge train and never really appreciate what they have achieved. There are popular youtubers who are depressed because they got rejected by Oxford for both undergraduate and masters programmes. Also remember that faculties will look on social media, so be careful what you put out there .......its all about the impression that you may or may not give. You are already a winner, rejoice in that, learn from the past and use it for your future!

Mo, keep your head up my man! Most top US universities are very very hard on International students applying due a lack of spots available and the amount of processing required to admit non-US residents.

I completely feel with this. I really wanted to get into this one university for my master's but I got rejected. I was devastated. I had tied so many of my aspirations to it. I needed to realise that my aspirations and dreams needed to be independent of where I went to university.

cant tell you how much i needed to hear alladis. been applying for paralegal jobs since i finished my law degree in May. still be here unemployed. 1,000s of applications submitted at this point. i consider myself lucky if some of these law firms even bother to let me know that i've been unsuccessful - most just leave me out to dry. been feeling a bit sorry for myself. needed this ibz
I’m in my 3rd year (out of a 5 year combined degree because I’m Australian) and I’m upset about not being able to find something to gain legal experience in. This is also really disheartening when you see your peers doing really great things and you’re just working in retail
@@ZOOBZGOMEZ i feel you. the only job im likely to get at the moment is in hospitality... kinda frustrating to still only be able to get jobs that i was doing before i had a degree. a law degree just seems like a very expensive trophy to me at the moment!
Yareelit Have you considered using your law degree for something else? I think it’s a relatively malleable degree in some regards.And I agree man so many people study it nowadays. I legit had no awareness of its popularity until I started.
@@ZOOBZGOMEZ I've had a look at other stuff a little e.g. HR or recruitment or generic admin jobs, a lot of them you need some form of specific qualification, or if not they're looking for someone with at least 1 years' experience. Very frustrating!

First thing first, thank you for telling this story. It takes so much courage (at least for me) to speak up about what doesn’t go as planned (I don’t use the word failure bcuz doing smth your best can never be called one). As another undergrad I share w you the pressure to make a beautiful uni path, and it’s good to see another side of story esp when most yt videos out there are about getting accepted into ivy leagues and stuffs.
