Not as hard as you think, really depends what your looking for. Garage sales basically give away VHS's, I talk with experience.

For some reason I enjoy watching people go through their collections, even though I'm not into horror as much as some people. But I also enjoy the documentary called "Adjust your tracking" which discusses VHS collecting. I would recommend it to anyone who likes VHS.

Outstandingly awesome collection bro! You have so many that I don't have. Back in 2007 I used to have over 1,000 VHS but downsized my collection. I sold 100s including like 100 from Venezuela. That was back in P.R. In 2012 I relocated to N.Y. and by 2015 I was sorry I sold all of those videocassettes. Then I began to buy VHS again including those I previously sold. What I want to get back is my Venezuelan VHS as now they're my Holy Grail I still have like 250 left. Anyway good showing and cool video bro!👉😃👈

A little bit of water and some gentle rubbing with a cloth will get those thrift store price tags off. Then they can be orientated correctly. Amazing collection yet again 🙂

Love that you have jeepers creepers 1 and 2 on VHS. I have them on DVD and blu ray. Also love that you have ghost ship on VHS. I have it on DVD and I saw it in theaters long time ago when it released.

I desperately want that The Kindred VHS set! Its a beautiful boxset and i really enjoyed the show in the 90s...though i never played Vampire: The Masquerade then.

Love it I have over 5700 movies in my collection mostly DVD and bluray and 4K bluray though , have some vhs and bata also
I'm surprised you don't have more cut boxes. They're almost all I can ever find when hunting for tapes in the wild.
Saw The Frighteners in theater when it came out and had to go to the bathroom so bad halfway through. It was so good I powered through it because the pain was worth it.

The Frighteners is a great pre Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movie with a really great Cast and really good Premise

thanks! Every now and then I will pop one in, Im not really worried about damaging any of them. Im pretty careful on loading them into the vcr. The way I look at it they are pointless to own if I dont watch them.

Yes I received similar comments about that and Im planning on doing an updated version where I talk about what I like and dont like about the ones ive seen. I wanted to just get an overview video out there for now

You are correct about your Graveyard Shift two pack , it is not related to the Stephen King story or movie . Dolores Claiborne is definitely not horror , think drama like Misery or Stand By Me , it is about an abused woman accused of murder . Fantastic book and movie , one of my favourite King adaptations . The Uninvited from 1944 is another good spooky movie .

You can consider the Chuck Norris movie Silent Rage (1982) an Action/Horror movie. Horror because of the story (Medical experiment goes wrong creating superhuman monster) and Action seeing Norris do his Martial Arts stuff.
If phantasm is one of your favs... Phantasm 3 is also recommended...
I would classify silent rage as kung Fu/horror.... Like Michael Myers meets Bruce Lee... One of my favs ...

Curious...if you had half of your collection on VHS and and half on Blu Ray or DVD would you reach for them equally? Or would you only watch the digital? Like would you watch a movie you liked less just because the picture and sound quality was better?
I tend to watch dvd/bluray more often than vhs.. Probably because picture quality but a goal for next year is to watch more vhs!
VHS tape are used to like them back in the 90s
20:26 Hold onto the 2x tape set of IT at least! It is the uncut television version and contains more footage than any bluray or DVD release. However the single tape release is also uncut but is it is an "extended play" format and in poor quality. Probably good enough to hold on to that one only for novelty value.

And how do you deal with it?
thank you and Ive never really ran into it, I do have a dehumidifier that runs almost 24/7 but thankfully my basement isnt too damp. But in the past if I had mold I take the tape apart and clean it with rubbing alcohol, Seems to work but Im bot sure if there has been any long term effects of it

The reason i asked is because i went through my collection the other day and found some (about 15) with white mold on the tape...☠️
I am going to use one of my bad vcr players to clean the tapes. (Take the vcr top off and wipe the tape as its playing)
Its just is a bit concerning (the mold)
Btw if you are interested in some Australian releases of horror or rare tapes.

Impressive collection. I collect Australian ex rental VHS and Betamax. Some of them go for ridiculous amounts too.

It's so hard to find VHS players these days.
I remember when you could give them away and now people are trying to selling them for $50+ … its wild!
You can find them at thrift stores. But make sure you test them with a tape before you buy it. And they are easy to clean. There are RUclips videos on how to clean the inside to restore them. Good luck
📼 things of beauty 😍 love the nightmare on elm Street set 👍 I have maybe 25 VHS tapes from circa 95 onwards , tbh if I would of kept all my real old VHS tapes I would have hundreds 📼 as I'm 53 this year I got rid of my old VHS tapes over the years replaced by dvds then Blu-ray now 4 k Blu-ray 📀😮 never ending 😱😊

I'm 53 years old too. And like 15 years ago I downsized my VHS collection because everything was coming to DVD. I sold 100s including like 100 from Venezuela. Flashforward to 2015 I was sorry I sold all those videocassettes especially the ones from Venezuela. So I began to buy VHS again and trying to get back most of my movies again. How is most of your collection in the card cases as opposed to the plastic cases ? Is it a US thing, in the UK i only remember seeing the plastic cases for vhs
I think it is a US thing, we have some plastic cassettes but they were mainly used for kid’s movies, and everything else was in cardboard cases
some good vhs box sets universal monsters invisible woman vhs now is about 100 some time seen it for 150 on ebay never find them locally

I finally watched Stephen King's IT from 1990 for the first time and I absolutely loved & really enjoyed the film, it's one of my favorite horror movies of all time plus the film is not scary at all and Tim Curry is phenomenal as Pennywise!!!!
The movie version of Salems lot is shorter with alternate scenes

ive been looking for this old VHS movie. 90s movie. Literally looks like hell or souls burning on the cover. I believe it was a b movie, action/ thriller movie.

Asian horror movies and Italian ones like GIALLO added substantial value to my collection. Overall i have almost 20k movies in my collection ( DVD,LD,BETA,VHS ) included.

Everything is proven people like myself are cleaning out mode switches in VCR players and I know everything about vhs tapes don't stop playing at all everything proven people like myself are fixing broken vhs tapes with Scotch tape it starts playing again with out no problem's what do you know about mode switches in VCR players
