LOVE ALL THIS!! I have been a 70's & 80's tv show buff and now I have everything on plex and my nas drive. I have my own streaming of all the stuff I love. Thanks for all the info. I have bought Audials and others thru your links!!
Great! I grew up with all the 70's and 80's shows and have enjoyed seeing them myself. I have 2 videos coming up where I have found more free, legal content and I am using this program to bring the best of them into my permanent collection. We're talking the Jefferson's, Quincy ME, Alfred Hitchcock, I Dream of Genie, Hogan's Heroes, Lost in Space, the Brady Bunch, Adam-12 and real cartoons!! .... it truly was the golden age of television.
DUDE THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME. Ive been looking for something like this forever because torrening is so tedious. Dude ur a legend. Now I can download everything for plex. :)
Go do it. I use it everyday and when my wife asks me if I have all the pictures of the kids backed up, I can tell her with confidence that I have it backed up twice.
I have used Audials for years... We have 1 bar cell service at home with no broadband. (100mi from the Whitehouse as the crow flys) But, I have cable at my business and bought a dedicated PC (Audials is not Mac friendly..) just to record videos. I take them home as a WMV file on thumb drives. It works perfectly when inserted into a CD player attached to the TV. Jim
Thanks i built my plex on unraid will be updating to a 12 core 24 thread threadripper 1st gen. soon. I needed this to plug holes in my TV collection. Wonderfully done.
In business it would be very unusual to have the original and backup in the same building. Your setup is fine as far as it goes but I would add a remote backup for your pictures.
I do have an external drive that I keep at my parents house. That reminds me, I need to add the last 2 yrs on it but yes it is good to have an off-site backup. We do pull one drive when we go on vacation and put it in the fireproof box.
I'm definitely giving this video a like. Like you Peter, I'm a media collector. Whether it be, movies, or TV series, documentaries, sport, music videos, pretty much anything. I reckon I've got 1800 movies and about 800 TV series, including multiple seasons, or all seasons of many of them, and I'm still adding to it. I run Plex with 2 x 1 TB NVME drives, 1 x 8TB SATA internal drive, and a Synology 2 bay NAS server, currently populated with one 10 TB NAS drive. Unfortunately, here in Australia, we are limited to which streaming services available to us because even using a VPN we can't sign up for services like HULU, or HBO Max because sign up requires a zip code that matches your credit card. I get quite a bit of content via torrents and the Usenet, so I make do. Still, it would be nice to be able to use those services. That for the tip on Audials, I've just installed it so I'll give it a go.
Yes, I have 2022. I did find that Audials 2022 has a few hiccups with Windows 11, so I rolled back to Windows 10 and it’s now working like a charm again.
@@proulxr2002 hey man, just seeing this video and was looking into audials. Any update on how it works with Windows 11 currently. I update to Windows 11 and actually really like it and don't want to go back to 10
Ur badss I like your taste in music. Legalize it don't criticize it. Got me a Synology 1522 just got a Zima board to do the transcoding. I haven't set it up yet. I'm really looking into this software to copy with. Feel like a kid in a candy store
Nice but I would caution people to be careful recording music. I haven't heard as much about Amazon and the other music services. However, Spotify is cracking down hard. If you use the direct option, Spotify has implemented technology to see that you are recording and will suspend your account. Using the other soundcard option is probably the safest option if you plan to record anything from them.
From what I understand, the activity that they can "see" is an accelerated rip. Why would someone want to listen to a song at 3x speed? If you listen to the song at normal speed, it is almost impossible to tell if you are listening or recording. Sound card or software is going to look exactly the same to their system... just don't accelerate the rip, it always messes with the timings anyway. Enjoy the music.
@@PeterC408 You are correct but the high-speed feature is not the only way Spotify can detect the activity. You also need to be careful with the drag & drop option. This is straight from Audials: "The "Drag music from XYZ to Audials" mode controls the streaming software remotely in order to play the desired music. This creates a certain "pattern" (all songs are played individually), which could be detected." Either way, I think it's a great program and have been using the program since it was Audials Tunebite.
Maybe I am misunderstanding but the problem with this would seem to be that you would either have to babysit it to record and stop at just the right time or edit it after the recording is finished. Even worse if you have a hiccup with your internet I assume that will become part of the recording as well.
What a coincidence, I just posted an update for 2023. Been working with this for a week now. Great new features. Depending on your PC, the workload is pretty light for a big PC. This is not for Chromebook. Take a look at my new video ruclips.net/video/jhrEHDKhMYc/видео.html I love this thing.
It doesn’t seem to work for an Apple family. We are Macs, iPads, and iPhones galore. Also, when I clicked on your link, it appears that three different packages have to be purchased… One for music, another for movies, and a third radio stations and podcasts.
Enjoyed your video. I have quad drives backing up my family pics, movies, music, etc. I also have plex but find KODI fits my musical needs much better...especially for playing across multiple genres of music...I love the data and info KODI brings to all my music. Thanks for the great review, will check it out. :)
Yes, I can't hate on Kodi... It was great for years but Plex does a better job with large libraries, it handles the family photos better and my NAS drive runs Plex Server natively. Plex Server is running on that device in my garage! That's why it does better managing large libraries - call it cheating but if you throw enough money at something...
You can record anything that hits your screen. INCLUDING A ZOOM VIDEO STREAM when you are not the moderator! If it hits your screen, you can record it. Apple+ will not be an issue there is even a shortcut on the new version just for Apple+. Check out my newer video ruclips.net/video/l3JHTwWmFaE/видео.html
There is a monitor volume... so you can turn it down without affecting the recording. You and hide the video recordings too but I would not use the computer too much during recording or you might mess it up.
Peter, My main goal is to be able record my tv shows and watch them on the road in may RV. Most of the time I have a good enough wifi with my T-Mobile cellular Gateway in my RV. I'm using a black box Tablo DVR at home but the new white round Tablo does not support retrieving recorded shows remotely, I don't know hwy they discontinue that function on the new lease Tablo. To make all this work II have to make sure my Firestick using the Tablo remote app gets it's hand shake on my home network then I can install the Firestick back into my RV and it will allow me to retrieve my recorded shows from the home Tablo box. Occasionally the Tablo app on my RV Firestick would get corrupted or deleted and I losose the Table network hand shake between home and RV and there's no way to establish the hand shake without not being home with both devices the same network. So I guess with these problems I'm having is I'm looking for another way to recorded my TV shows from home and then access the recordings on the road in my RV. I hope this all makes sense. I can't watch all my shows live on the road since I may not have access to the local channels in a remote area. Maybe there's a streaming app like Sling or something that allows you to record all yours shows and then pull them down from the cloud DVR to watch on the road. Any suggestions?
Great question but wrong thread. Ask this on a TabloTV thread. Perhaps your saving grace will be PLEX. Store your TV on PLEX and then view it remotely.
okay using Roku express 4k plus is it possible to do that with the nas but really wish you did from box to working and how to actually use it seems not to hard but not not good at computer things
This is a super cool solution and I do use it with my Roku Soundbar Pro but it is technical and probably not a good fit for someone that is not a self described nerd. Perhaps I could have a more inclusive video that shows beginning to end. Let me work on that.
It works! I can record directly from Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Zoom meetings, anything!! Just like a DVR (or VCR). Let's see, I am opening it right now..... Just opened the program, clicked on Video Streaming, chose the internal player... It launched Amazon. I had to login. I started streaming World War Z and it started recording... I let it go for a few minutes and got a perfect 1280x720 copy of what I watched. Easy as watching TV... You need a real PC. This will not work on a ChromeBook.... right?
It is both. You can either buy it outright or buy it as an annual purchase. Everyone wants to be a SAAS model now, but for software I think it makes lots of sense. You can't buy Office365 you just keep paying for it as it gets better and better (hopefully). This is a piece of software that pays for itself in one day!
Only things you should mention. Audials can only record what the website has to offer so mostly 720p quality for most streaming services on PC because of DRMs. Also, it only has stereo audio. But for Spotify or other recordings, it's really good.
i was wondering does this program or company keep any info. sure it be a matter of time before the move and music companys will take them to court on those who have baught it. i see in the title it say legel for home use
@@PeterC408 reason why i am asking which package is best it seem like every year you have to resub up. i use to have another program that one price for a life time of updates. i was thinking the gold package be best cause i guess they give youdiscount on new sub like the 2024 version. i maaybe over thinking this but guessing once new version comes out the 2023 version will no longer work or if stream company does some type of update it would stop working and you have to get 2024 version. thank you for your reply to my Question. try not to be a pain in the neck.
Would this be any easier than using an hdmi capture card, a roku, and OBS? For instance, can you cue up multiple episodes of a TV show, and let them play? Or just start episode one of a season and let it auto-play out? Will this program record each one in turn and label them properly? Also, will it record video in higher than 720p format you showed here? Thanks
This is my favorite Router ruclips.net/video/H4gvsUXcw38/видео.html It does have power settings that include "through walls" but the best part is to be able to duplicate access point to 2 or 3 nodes to cover the whole house. It also has a great feature that allows my to serve my Plex Server even using TMobile Home Internet, previously thought impossible! ruclips.net/video/1KHCjxmIBac/видео.html
@theytube3879 I tried saving money by going with a different router. I've tried dozens of them literally. Many were sent to me for free. And they were very high end but I ended up buying this one myself because I really needed to solve it to be a whole home solution. Not looking back it was a good investment.

Great video. Im happy streaming but also have dish and am paying 100.00 a month. Is there a solution to record live tv off Roku that works with a tv instead of a pc. Then i could get rid of Dish. I only keep it for the crazy amount of dvr storage they provide. Love to just have Roku and Netflix.
Yes, $100/mo is a tough pill to swallow every month. Sounds like you need a recording device. Take a look at this little hardware DVR I recently reviewed, ruclips.net/video/r6LHtX9RgiA/видео.html Super Good quality and easy to use.
Peter, thanks for getting back to me. If you could provide just a little more detail I would appreciate it. I have just started using a NAS at my house so I am on a steep learning curve. Several quick questions: 1. Do you save from Audials directly to the NAS or do you send the file to the computer first? 2. Can you load and run Audials from the Synology NAS somewhat like you run PLEX from the NAS? It appears from what I have read, that cannot be done. 3. Did you set up separate directories on the NAS in the PLEX group of directories for Audials copies of media; i.e. do you save to the Movies director or did you set us a separate directory something like Audials Movies or Audials Music.
1. Save to the Computer First. 2. Plex has a program for the NAS drive - Audials does not. It makes more sense on a big PC with plenty of resources. The Synology server, while cool, only has so much power and is no match for my i7-7770 processor with 32GB of DRAM. 3. Plex recommends storing your files in a certain directory structure. I, having a blank drive, adopted it as my own.
I want the recordings to go into my plex folder and then subfolders for each show and then each season. I have been messing with the options and it seems almost impossible. Anyone pill it off yet?
I have no problem directing it to whatever folder that I want, but having it actively check your titles and go deeper into subfolders is a big ask... I am going to say that nothing I have seen is setup for that. I record things and then move them myself.
No, but this can be done with another solution. Think of this as a screen recorder but with some outrageous features: it will pull down meta data, remove commercials, and more but if you want to schedule a recording, you can use this amzn.to/3RB4DBH, I did a review of this product here ruclips.net/video/r6LHtX9RgiA/видео.html STILL, this is not a IPTV tuner, so you would need leave this connected and the screen playing. You would have to have it connected for 3 days, but it would grab the game when it comes on. It can be used to record several programs by time and date but again, it does not tune. Get an inexpensive firestick or equivalent and leave it running all the time.
There are shows that disappear. One that I liked was called Not Exactly News. It was funny and I had all of the episodes except #6. At one point, MTV hosted the shows to be played directly from their website for free. I captured it using some software, but buffering made it skip a lot. A few months later, I went back to try re-capturing and maybe it wouldn't buffer. At this point, MTV deleted all the episodes. So, I took my old capture and edited out the buffer problems. I don't have a perfect copy, but I may have the only one around - I haven't found that episode anywhere on the internet. If you like something, save it! Between censorship, digital rights and websites reclaiming hard drive space, it may just disappear forever.
Like any storage system, it depends on the size of the drives you populate it with. The base unit is less than $300 but you have to configure it (configure it with Plex which comes on their internal menu but still needs to get done). Almost ready to rock...
I was looking for stream recording software when Locast was still a thing. But I wanted software that I could use like a DVR. It doesn't sound like this would have worked. Unfortunately, Locast lost it's legal battle so that even if I found software that would work like a DVR I am not sure I'd have any use for it.
They have asked me to delay my review. An embargo I don't understand. Some cool new features, but they do require one hell of a lot of CPU power. I think they're adding too much to the software, its losing focus, and they will have some returns because of it.
Yes but what about playback is it only thru the program that you recorded it with or can you use Windows Media Player? are the files standard Mp4 or a Proprietary format?
great vid thanks, I have been onto the web site and 2 versions are available buy or rent or I think so as it is not clear I assume the buy is the best option as you purchased ? is that correct ? thanks Dave
It is an interesting question... the piece of software that I use to create RUclips videos has the same option and for years I chose to buy it outright but I always seem to have to buy it again anyway. If I had it to do again, I would always just pay as you go - it keeps the software updated and relevant.
Yes, here is a video that I did about my Plex Server when it was new in 2018 ruclips.net/video/atgntoWU3XA/видео.html It says a lot that I am still using it.
TV has changed. We are looking to capture streams that can be started at anytime. So the good news is no start/stop time but you need to be there to do that.
Very useful video - thanks for making it. The recording looked a bit choppy (I'm on a strong home broadband network) - can you confirm if the playback is actually as smooth as the original? Thanks!

Yes, The Audials ONE is the all in one package. you can buy it as a annual (reoccurring) or as a one time purchase. I bought AnyDVD that way years ago and enjoyed it for years before.... RIP.
Oh, dear god... yes, you need a real PC... this is video capture at 30fps... leave the Chromebook on the shelf and this is nothing a Roku could aspire too in 10000 years. It would be like having a dog land a plane. 😜
But of course. I do not think it is anything special, but the PC that I use for Audials One is an Intel i7-7700 with 16GB of DRAM. I have an Nvidia 1050Ti card inside but it is so old that I doubt that it is helping. What issues are you having?
I have a Asustor NAS (FS6706T) and I was thinking it would be good to run Audials one 2023 from the NAS if possible. However the Asustor NAS has a ADM OS which Audials won't run. Maybe if possible, I can run a Windows OS on the NAS, it might work? I don't know if this is possible. I currently use a Intel i7 notebook which works with the Audials OK, but freeing up the notebook would be good if possible. Maybe a cheep Mini PC might do the trick? Thoughts? Also do you find Audials strips commercials efficiently? Thanks for the support.
Audials One is capturing a high resolution screen and doing real-time transcoding. What it can do is amazing but plese don't expect it do it from a Chromebook, it wants real processing power. It will not run on a NAS device even if you get the NAS to run an OS. Mini PCs are not a good option either we need i7 or at least an i5 processor with 16GB of DRAM, otherwise it will not work well. Capture video on your Desktop PC and the move it to your NAS. Playback a one thing my NAS can handle. As far as stripping commercials goes, I did try it out with FreeVee in this video ruclips.net/video/jhrEHDKhMYc/видео.html and it worked amazingly well. That said, it might not work that well from every stream but that is a good one to work from and it was 100%
This really interests me. But, with the backup / copies of the material (such as Prime video or Netflix video), does the copy have a 1-to-1 look to the original. Meaning, is it a good copy? I tried something like this before, and the color was off slightly. I think it was PlayOn. It did an okay job, but it didn't seem to have the same quality as the original. So, any thoughts? Also, be nice if someone kept doing research on topics like this. This is really needed to be solved. Because, my reason is to record things (say things that have commercials -- like Hulu), then skip over them as I watch it later. That's my goal. And, Prime Video is now also starting to want to do commercials, and I'm not sure I want to pay $3 more a month to not have that. Because I don't watch it that much. Same with Paramount. All of them just keep adding more costs.
The "recordings" that I make with this program are indistinguishable from the original. I see no color degradation whatsoever. Sure there are otherways to record the screen but this is the whole package. I really like the metadata and commercial detection. Check this out ruclips.net/video/jhrEHDKhMYc/видео.html
Can You record RUclips Video and audio with this. If yes do I have to watch the whole 5 min video to do it? Or can I record it faster? I watch mainly 3-18 min. videos. Thanks Also Great video.
Oh, you are going to love this! Not only can you record both audio and video but you don't even need to watch the stream. I just downloaded my 13 minute video and in the video I only got about 5 words out of my mouth before it was done. Get it. You will thank me later.
I am a streamer and have a 2 pc setup. I use my elgato capture card and one pc then stream from the other one. It saves the files as mp4. I use handbrake to compress the file if necessary. This allows me to copy anything.
That's not a bad solution but your max resolution is lower, you can not capture Dolby 5.1 and it cost a whole lot more... but props for solving that one. Oh, and this can do accelerated downloads too.
@@PeterC408 My max resolution is 4k 60. My capture card is the mk.2. You are somewhat right about the audio, it does sound a bit lower on some titles. Not bad for free though. I do not like the part of watching the entire thing through to record though.
It's software so records at a true 720P but allows you to upscale it if you want. Here is a review of the newest version ruclips.net/video/-VRH2TILqbA/видео.html but if you want a true 1080P capture device, check out this one ruclips.net/video/r6LHtX9RgiA/видео.html
No. Like many pieces of software today, they come out with a new features every year and it is not part of the upgrade path. Upgrades provide keep current the functionality as purchased. If you want new features and enhancements, you need to buy it again, which is why I prefer the 12month license to the forever license.
I record videos for later viewing, and when my hard drive gets too full, I try to copy them to an exterior drive. The problem is that a lot of the copies are not playable . Would downloading using this correct the problem? Obviously, I'm not your basic technologically adept type of person. - I need guidance! Someone told me about RealPlayer as well, but I'm not sure which would be best for my use.
Copies produced by this method are fully portable and can be used on tablets, computers, even a flash drive in your TV. IMHO The best free Codec (coder decoder / movie player) is VLC.
@@PeterC408 I mean if the program is capable of capturing the audio without losing the 5.1. If I played it connected to a 5.1 system, I would hear stereo or 5.1?

If you record at normal speed (1:1) there is no way that they can tell you are recording. It is only when you do accelerated capture that that flags the usage. Since no one listens at 4x speed.

Peter, do you have your Audials app installed on your computer or your Synology server? How did you organize the file structure on the Synology NAS for Audials?
I have been using the Synology NAS drive as a Plex server since 2018.... way before Audials. Nothing special setup. Audials is just a program on my PC that I use to make copies of video and music. It's way easier than you think.

Just choose to record a video or song and it will prompt to you open Amazon... when you do, Amazon asks you to login. Same for Spotify, Netflix, Hulu, RUclips and the bunch. Once you have done it once, your PC remembers and you are off to the races.
Of course. You can even pull up a music video and just save the high quality MP3! This is one purchase that will pay for itself the first day! You will not regret it. I ring my hands together like a villain every time I use it. 🤑
No, it makes a great recording but it still has to capture all this data in real time. If you want 4K Atmos, you are going to have to buy the movie. Period. Now, it does support high resolution with surround.
Wait, so it’s a real screen recorder? What makes it different from OBS that is free? Matter of fact I’ve been screen recording my streaming services this way.
This one is much better. Not only does it fully tag your download with the valid metadata but it stops recording when the program is through. I used free screen recorders and had end of movie anxiety. Not anymore. This thing is just great.
@@JCRubio That happens when you screen record from Chrome or most other browsers. With Firefox that doesn't happen. That said, it's a pain in butt anyway, for example you really have to make sure all OS sounds are off or the movie will record with any blip and allert from the system and other software. I will give this software from the video a try anyway.
I am not a lawyer, so I don't want to provide legal advise but read what they have written on their site and decide if that allays your concerns. And always use your best judgement. Those programs look cool but lack the polish of pulling down the cover art and stopping automatically when the recording is finished (huge advantage)
@@PeterC408 I've been reading the legal and researching this program in particular all morning. It looks like it is legal by definition. I'm really thinking about buying this. The only thing that bothers me is it's 60 bucks and I don't know if this is going to work for my computer. I guess it's worth trying. Would a external hard drive work with this?
You can download it and try it. It will make 5 minute recording to allow you to verify that it works. I believe an external drive will also work but you should verify that as well although I have done that. I have even redirected it to my NAS.
The way I handled my backup is a second machine in the shed with identical hard drives to the main server, and then I just use Resilio Sync to mirror the main server drives as new files are added in real time. It's not a perfect solution but it does mean that the drives are readable by any PC should there be a hardware problem.

You mentioned podcasts. Will it grab them in the background for later playing like a regular podcast player? Sounds like everything needs to be caught as streamed. Podcasts are like the TV news to me. Listen once and never go back for a second listen. Personally I don't watch movies more than once either. I've already seen the story so it's never the same the second time around. My collection would be maybe a half dozen, if that. Years ago I had a program that would grab internet radio and would detect the songs by the silence gap and record each as a separate file and even find the title if it could. Can this software do stuff like that?
Think of it as a VCR in the old days. When you had to be there to record... just like that. Regarding detecting songs from the Internet and grabbing radio programs.... yes, this is the program you are thinking of. You create "Wish-Lists" of songs you want to hear and it will find them in the background. I must admit, I don't know much about Podcasts but this makes the idea much more interesting.
@@PeterC408 Cool. Here's what I used to do with my VCR. I had 7 tapes marked Sun through Sat and I would put in a new tape each day. When I pulled them out I would flip them to indicate that they had something to watch. Yes, it did need to be a live stream but I definitely was not around to start it. I did this when I was working 2nd shift and would miss all my shows otherwise. I eventually went crazy and setup 3 vcrs. Very similar to something like a Tivo that has 4 tuners so I could record shows on at the same time.
Yes... Now it does have the option to accelerate the playback but I did not mention that because people are finding old notebooks from 2015 to run them on.
Also, I watched toward the end. Isn't there an automated way (such as PlayOn) to do this? Be nice just to give it a link, and then it do all the work. And, spit you out a MP4 or something.
I believe that you will find that this is a PC program with an android component that allows you to listen and transfer music and podcasts to your phone. That said, encrypting 30fps is no easy feat. Try the trial version before buying. Make sure it works on that older PC. I have an i7-7770 pc with an Nvidia 1050 video card. It can do this pretty easily but "old laptop" concerns me that it might not be enough power.
You mean the video recordings and music??? Yes, of course. It works perfect for that but you will soon see that when you have a HUGE library of music, movies and pictures that KODI gets slow managing all of that. Running a Plex Server in the garage may seem like cheating but you get to do it everyday so it is just evolution.
I had been using Audials One 2021 successfully for recording streaming and on-demand shows. I upgraded to 2022 and now can't record anything with DRM. Am I missing something??
2022 is awesome. It works better than 2021. I am not sure what is going on but check the specs to see if they changed anything but I don't think so... I have both installed on my PC simultaneously, no problem.
Great question! Here is an answer I found googling the same question "DS218play - Good for backups. Geared for HD and some 4K multimedia. Many apps available but limited performance. DS218+ - Good for all multimedia (HD, 4K) and easy backup functions (copy button) and is upgradable (RAM) expandable up to 7 drives (as a separate volume), Hot-swap drives, will run all apps." It appears to be a processor difference - The DS218 has a Realtek RTD1296 and the DS281+ has a much faster Intel Celeron J3355. They make even faster ones but if you want to run Plex from it, I would get the DS218+ or higher.
Interesting. Also interested in the redundant drives. Do you have a video on those? Wife and I just had a baby are are looking to find a way to make sure we have access to all our photos without much risk of losing.
Congratulations! Yes, having access to the pictures not only allows you to enjoy them but verify that your backup is valid. Here is the video that I created back in 2018. The fact that we are still using it speaks volumes (not an intentional pun, but seen). ruclips.net/video/atgntoWU3XA/видео.html
So glad you explained the legal aspects. Thank You this works great.

Great! I grew up with all the 70's and 80's shows and have enjoyed seeing them myself. We're talking the Jefferson's, Quincy ME, Alfred Hitchcock, I Dream of Genie, Hogan's Heroes, Lost in Space, the Brady Bunch, Adam-12 and real cartoons!! .... it truly was the golden age of television.

Been thinking about doing something with Plex for a long time. Think you gave me the push to do it. Thanks mate.

Jim

Wow. That is some serious horsepower for a Plex Server! Glad to help.
Thanks just purchased.
How do you like it?
Do you have 2 shows that are copyright protected? Like that are pay to watch only?
There are ways to circumvent the payment location issues. Let me know if you want me to explain further how I do it.
Great video! I’ve been using both programs for the past 3+ years now. Love both programs.

Have you see the new changes for 2022? I was impressed.
Yes, I have 2022. I did find that Audials 2022 has a few hiccups with Windows 11, so I rolled back to Windows 10 and it’s now working like a charm again.

Now we won't be able to run for president. 😀 I just got a new Synology DS423+. Let me know how it goes!
Before I would use OBS. Man, This makes so easy with a click of a button and so much better! Nice find Peter.
Or Mirillis Action.
I'm still using OBS haha. The audio isn't great when I do, though.
@@PeterC408 is this still valid do you have to pay now?

Can this schedule recording. Eg every Wednesday at 6 pm from a live streaming service channel
Will it record Apple+ Streams? I read a lot about DRM in the TOS but can't figure it out.
You can record anything that hits your screen. INCLUDING A ZOOM VIDEO STREAM when you are not the moderator! If it hits your screen, you can record it. Apple+ will not be an issue there is even a shortcut on the new version just for Apple+. Check out my newer video ruclips.net/video/l3JHTwWmFaE/видео.html
question regarding when the music and video is playing can you mute it on your end or do you have to hear it for it to record?
There is a monitor volume... so you can turn it down without affecting the recording. You and hide the video recordings too but I would not use the computer too much during recording or you might mess it up.
Good video
I just did a trial to see if it works do you have to purchase before you can download a movie off prime? When I tried nothing showed up for me.
This will not work on a ChromeBook.... right?
Oh ok I ended up going with another program that does the same thing
Can you schedule recording of shows on IPTV live streams?
No, i dontbthink so. How would it know what input to record? You can set radio programs to record however.
@@PeterC408 the iota service has a guide, so thought you might be able to record future shows based on the guide.
Is this a subscription service? Or is it a one time purchase?
It will record in Dolby 5.1 and yes it can only record what's available to record. I think it's the perfect balance of quality and size.
Will this remove DRM???
Do you have Moonraker and on your copy does Dolly have braces?
No but apparently it is on Amazon Prime right now, so perhaps I will watch it.
i was wondering does this program or company keep any info. sure it be a matter of time before the move and music companys will take them to court on those who have baught it. i see in the title it say legel for home use

Would this be any easier than using an hdmi capture card, a roku, and OBS? For instance, can you cue up multiple episodes of a TV show, and let them play? could you recommend a good 'through walls' router to accompany this?
This is my favorite Router ruclips.net/video/H4gvsUXcw38/видео.html It does have power settings that include "through walls" but the best part is to be able to duplicate access point to 2 or 3 nodes to cover the whole house.
I subbed immediately when you played Peter Tosh ✌️

Thanks Peter.
Can you record live tv on a schedule from an IPTV? For example, let’s say I want to record a baseball game in 3 nights live via an IPTV.
You are right. I just looked everywhere for that program. E06 is nowhere to be found. Maybe someone will seed this and let you know where to find it.
How much does a system like that cost? Is there a product that comes ready to rock?
Like any storage system, it depends on the size of the drives you populate it with. The base unit is less than $300 but you have to configure it (configure it with Plex which comes on their internal menu but still needs to get done). Almost ready to rock...
I was looking for stream recording software when Locast was still a thing. But I wanted software that I could use like a DVR. It doesn't sound like this would have worked. Unfortunately, Locast lost it's legal battle so that even if I found software that would work like a DVR I am not sure I'd have any use for it.
Many services have a DVR or VoD service, but not forever. This lets you grab them and hang on to them.

Hi Peter, I see AUDIALS has a 2024 version available for upgrade. Any thoughts' on your part? Value, features added?
They have asked me to delay my review. An embargo I don't understand. Some cool new features, but they do require one hell of a lot of CPU power. I think they're adding too much to the software, its losing focus, and they will have some returns because of it.
I Agree. I will wait a while to do any upgrades.
Yes but what about playback is it only thru the program that you recorded it with or can you use Windows Media Player? are the files standard Mp4 or a Proprietary format?

Happy new year! Thank you.
Do you have to use a PC do use it or are there apps for Roku, Firestick, etc?
Oh, dear god... yes, you need a real PC... this is video capture at 30fps... leave the Chromebook on the shelf and this is nothing a Roku could aspire too in 10000 years. It would be like having a dog land a plane. 😜
Hi Peter, Are you willing to share your hardware used for Audials One 2023 and movie recording as well as any recommendations of other hardware?
Just wondering does it record it in 5.1 Surround Sound? Or just in Stereo?
Just stereo I believe.
what is highest resolution it can record. 4k?
It's software so records at a true 720P but allows you to upscale it if you want. Here is a review of the newest version ruclips.net/video/-VRH2TILqbA/видео.html but if you want a true 1080P capture device, check out this one ruclips.net/video/r6LHtX9RgiA/видео.html
Hey Pete I got it working💪 thank door
GREAT! Thanks for letting me know
I Get a free audials one on internet years ago like 7 wondering if it can update
Does this software keep all the audio in 5.1 (if the movie is available with it of course)?
I pause because you say "all the audio", what does it mean?
@@PeterC408 I mean if the program is capable of capturing the audio without losing the 5.1. If I played it connected to a 5.1 system, I would hear stereo or 5.1?
@@jaimevicentcarmona728 It captures 5.1 now
can you record songs from you tube on to the usb stick ? with that
You can record from anything to anywhere. Sorry for not answering directly about any specific source but... try it. I can make ringtones from videos and record MP3 songs at 320Mbps.
thanks
Quick question, I've built several computers, but I am far from knowing or understanding all the how's or why's so bear with me here. Do I need a server or can I just install another drive to my computer and store it all there? What would be the benefit of a server?
No server is needed. You can grab music or video content and it store it on a flash drive. A server is just a nice trick to manage a lot of content.
Can you burn to disc.
NO THAT IS ILLEGAL!
I took a 3 month trial through SPOTIFY and today after 2 monthsI got a email stating they canceled my subscript for user violations. I down load and put music on a thumb drive because my 2019 Terraine dont have a cd player but does have a usb to play my music in my car. I may have misunderstood Spotify's terms but I understood under their terms I could download. I dont have a smart phone so this is the only way for me to take the music with me. I dont sell or distrubit any music it is for my own use only. I dont understand what I did wrong
If you record at normal speed (1:1) there is no way that they can tell you are recording. It is only when you do accelerated capture that that flags the usage. Since no one listens at 4x speed.
I have a Windows 10 Pro PC with an i9 11900K CPU and an ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080ti and my 1Gig internet is a consistent 800 Mbps Download 50 Mbps Upload on average. Will that do to run this program well?
That sounds like a fast machine. I have an i7-7700 with an Nvidia 1050Ti and it seems do do very well.
Can I run Audials on my Nas as it does not work on a Mac?
Audials is a PC application. I captures video that is displayed on screen or in a browser. Great application, but indeed a PC application.
@@PeterC408 That is too bad I have a Synology Nas but no windows machine
It is almost worth getting a windows machine just for this program. 😉
Good content as usual!!!
Thanks. Appreciate it!
i've just got into plex, if i record in audials can i transfer and watch it in Plex? and maybe delete it in audials? also can i record radio station streams with this?
Yes to both. Once you transfer a file to your Plex Drive, you can delete it and yes, it can record internet radio which is pretty cool.
I'm looking for something that can start recording a streaming program or movie on its own when I'm not home like we used to be able to do with VCR's. Is there anything like that out there?
Most streams are not live and are ready when you are but if you wanted to record a live stream at a certain time, you could use a box like this one. amzn.to/3Uu6NBQ
@@PeterC408 Thank you very much for your reply. It is appreciated. I'm going to buy one of those.
@@PeterC408 Peter, thanks for getting back to me. If you could provide just a little more detail I would appreciate it. I have just started using a NAS at my house so I am on a steep learning curve. Several quick questions: 1. Do you save from Audials directly to the NAS of do you send the file to the computer first? 2. Can you load and run Audials from the Synology NAS somewhat like you run PLEX from the NAS? 3. Did you set up separate directories on the NAS in the PLEX group of directories for Audials copies of media; i.e. do you save to the Movies director or did you set us a separate directory something like Audials Movies or Audials Music.
Here is the directory structure I adopted support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/
I had always recorded to my PC and then moved to the NAS drive, but after reading your comment and others, I tried sending data directly to my NAS. It works so far so good. I have only tried music so far but... saves a step. Audials will not run directly on Synology. Application that un on the NAS were designed to run on the NAS drive and so far this is not one of them. It seems to be very processor intensive so I would be surprised if we every saw Audials running on a Celeron based NAS drive.
Great Video as usual. Do the recordings save in a format that is readable for other apps? or does it use a proprietary format?
Great question - you can choose the formats and that include the really highend codecs that audiophiles love but also the super standard ones like MP3 and M4P
It converts the video after recording though which adds to the recording time
What is that Channels icon under online content in your plex?
They have some new content VoD TV and Movies. Not horrible but not worth mentioning either.
@@PeterC408 I'm aware of the live movies and tv from pluto that plex offers, but not sound like an ass, they don't show up as channels. So i was just curious. Thank you for your reply, your channel is awesome!
What video file does it record ? Or container do i need to hand break it to compress the file ?
This is handbreak with no hands. It makes it very simple to use... Think handbreak with smaller files, faster and easier to use.
So I guess we have Buy it , how do we attached the Amazon ac
Just choose to record a video or song and it will prompt to you open Amazon... when you do, Amazon asks you to login. Same for Spotify, Netflix, Hulu, RUclips and the bunch. Once you have done it once, your PC remembers and you are off to the races.
Can Audials copy/record youtube streams?
Of course. You can even pull up a music video and just save the high quality MP3! This is one purchase that will pay for itself the first day! You will not regret it. I ring my hands together like a villain every time I use it. 🤑
Does this support 4K and Atmos ?
No, it makes a great recording but it still has to capture all this data in real time. If you want 4K Atmos, you are going to have to buy the movie. Period. Now, it does support high resolution with surround.
Wait, so it’s a real screen recorder? What makes it different from OBS that is free? Matter of fact I’ve been screen recording my streaming services this way.
This one is much better. Not only does it fully tag your download with the valid metadata but it stops recording when the program is through. I used free screen recorders and had end of movie anxiety. Not anymore. This thing is just great.
How did you do it? When we try to do that we get a black screen. Any tips would really help. Thanks so much.
If you record something that has commercials scattered all thru the show are you able to edit them out?
Yes it has tools for that but being able to skip them is usually good enough for me.
Peter, is this legal with any screen recorder such as bandicam or OBS? Or is this specifically legal for this program only?
@@PeterC408 You have just gained a new subscriber! That is awesome that you got back to me and are very helpful! Thank you for the video!
The way I handled my backup is a second machine in the shed with identical hard drives to the main server, and then I just use Resilio Sync to mirror the main server drives as new files are added in real time. It's not a perfect solution but it does mean that the drives are readable by any PC should there be a hardware problem.
Ok i can't seem to record from direct TV any ideas.?🤦♂
Are you able to receive direct TV on your PC? If so, it should record.
@@PeterC408 yes, I am paying for DIRECTV every month
@@PeterC408 yeah I was able to screen record today but somethings messed up. I have to try and figure it out tomorrow but I wanted to record DIRECTV like right in the software. The only way I can do it right now is screen record and I’m a little confused about it.
Will this record RUclips bought movies?
Does it display on your PC screen?
hi i have plex serve i not sure how to record and is it worth having plex pass
I got the Plex pass after looking into it years ago. I can not recall the reasons why. I have not regretted the decision.
Do u have to play the video for inorder for it to record?
What version is best? Android or PC for recording? I have an old laptop (windows 10) and an Nvidia shield tv 2017.(with Philips external ssd )
Looks good but does this work with a Firestick & Kodi?
What is the difference between the DS218+ and the DS218 ?
Great question! Here is an answer I found googling the same question "DS218play - Good for backups. Geared for HD and some 4K multimedia. Many apps available but limited performance. DS218+ - Good for all multimedia (HD, 4K) and easy backup functions (copy button) and is upgradable (RAM) expandable up to 7 drives (as a separate volume), Hot-swap drives, will run all apps."
It appears to be a processor difference - The DS218 has a Realtek RTD1296 and the DS281+ has a much faster Intel Celeron J3355. They make even faster ones but if you want to run Plex from it, I would get the DS218+ or higher.
@@PeterC408 ✅👍👍👍 Thanks !
