Campbell and Gibbs are going to contend for OROY and DROY. My only question is why we didn’t draft a outside corner or a 3tec. Love the players but I question neglecting these pivotal positions in the draft
Alim is a 3T to the Lions. Buggs and Martin are NT's. martin will back up Buggs to take on double teams and stuff up the middle. Buggs is good. He just played way too many snaps last year, which is why they went with a heavy DT and not a penetrating one like all the pundits were looking for. We are a lot more stout up the middle and that was a weakness for the team on defense.
@@anthonydorsett6008 And people dont realize how good some of our penetrating DT's are. Alim full time as a 3T should be really good this year. Commish on passing downs does what Jalen Carter built his entire career around. setting up other people for sacks and occasionally his own sack, without being a deficit in the run game like Kancey would of been.
Lions are on the up and I’m very very impressed with their drafting and team building. They’ve hit on important positions and were a few pieces away and theoretically aced the draft filling those needs..Playoff caliber team with a 3-4 year window minimum but of course a Qb away from being elite and technically can still win SBs without an elite Qb but remains to be seen..But Hooker could be the guy and no he’s not elite but his athletic intangibles could make up for that
Gibbs is a better version of swift. He catches better and running wise is similar. Gibbs will fill swifts role as a receiving back and monty will fill williams role as a power back. Campbell is great. LePorta is good. Branch is amazing. Hooker is a good QB and will be a great backup. He could be the future who knows. He is only like 3 years younger than goff tho. Martin is a good pick. And now today they pick up an olinemen further strengthening one of their strong suits. In the 7th I could see them going for a depth piece at maybe corner or dline.
Interesting how there is such a dichotomy of opinions on this pick. Gibbs ability to start and stop and accelerate on a whim is compelling. Reminds me of Billy Sims
@@SnowDaulphin Yeah its a controversial pick because we didn't need a RB. But he is a definite upgrade who will hopefully actually play full seasons instead of missing half of them. Many people would rather see us keep swift and get gonzales instead.
@@styxscorpion4541 yup. It’s not addressing a big weakness but rushing game overall has much to be desired. Alabama wins games because of their athleticism if it isn’t obvious. This means yards after a catch or run play based on the back’s maneuverability are important. Detroit struggled with gaining first downs based on the run and Goff is not a great long ball thrower. Swift’s job is secure but not sure what will happen with Williams. I’m definitely ok with this pick.
Levi is back so Martin has a big hill to climb just to make the roster. Going to be a battle on that D line this year these boys loaded up hell so much talent in the secondary it's not a matter of who is going to play but a matter of how do we get these guys on the field lions had a top 5 offense now they got a top 15 D watch out for that Honolulu blue this year
The second LB off the board was Drew Sanders and wasn't he drafted into the late 3rd rd when experts said he'd go in the 2rd rd too. Goes to show they don't know what there talking about. Also News came out that New England was draft Gibbs with the 14th pick.
Fans are going to need to get used to not expending every high resource on linemen. They are so convinced it’s the only way to spend high picks (after doing so and being awful for decades) they completely miss just how critical elite players are behind them. Holmes killed this draft. He got 4 day 1 contributors. 2 on defense to stop the bleeding in the middle. He also got the perfect QB prospect. If Goff doesn’t win playoff games (plural) this or next year, you’re going to have a high end prospect waiting in the wings who was considered a top 20 pick at one point (in a loaded class). Hand it to them. They took the bull by the horns here.
How do the LB’s play out with Anzalone, Rodriguez and Campbell all playing the same position? Also the “improved” secondary is coming off a lot of injuries. Sutton missed time for knee and groin issues and has hit the IR because of the groin. Moseley is coming off a torn ACL CJGJ missed the last 5 games with a lacerated kidney Will Harris gave up a 70% completion rate and misses 3 games Jacobs has torn 2 ACL’s already Brian branch is coming off a knee injury and ran a 4.6 meaning he’s getting beat by every receiver I know Lions fans have a Super Bowl trip penciled in but it’ll be interesting to see what happens during the season
The draft is purely about picking players to turn your team into a winner. As long as they believe they picked guys that name the team better and match their culture that’s all I care about
@@RealSwaggy It's come out that teams were planning to take him in between the Lions two first rounders, if they didn't take him at 12 they may not of got him at all
I like the black ops background music! Zombies ftw! I'm so happy about the draft. I dont care about value at the pick at the time if this group turns out to be productive.
And if he doesn’t and wants 50M a season, you have hooker who will be developed the next 2 years You Goff people need to give it a rest. The whole reason the rams moved Goff was his production didn’t match his contract. The dumbest thing the lions could have done is passed on hooker at that point. His contract will be peanuts and the offense is set up so he can win, if Goff can’t. Breathe. It’s ok. You don’t need to believe in everything Goff
You know swift is great and all that but he was afraid to run down the hole he always wants to bounce it outside and ends up getting tackled by a outside linebacker or corner
I’ve had time to digest the Gibbs pick. I figured going in we would take him but at the end of the first round. I don’t live the spot but if he can be our Kamara then this will be a very good pick
@dish dog Kamara didn’t lead a top 5 team in the country in passing yards and receiving yards, you got a hybrid slot/receiver. Like this guy said you’ve been drinking too much Mel kiper hairspray 😂 nobody every comes back to good players and says “man I wish we wouldn’t have taken them there we could’ve got better positional value” see how silly that sounds🤣 pats were going to take Gibbs at 14 also they said it, giants also said they were going to trade up. Turn off the Mel kiper
No way Goff would be cut next year! Heck at a minimum he’d be traded for at least some decent capital. His deal is not that bad for a QB thst was top 7 in everything! At only 28 (then 29) he would still have good value as a starter somewhere! 🤷♂️👌
Goff is seen as lower than he merits because he was traded for Stafford by someone seen (& rightly so) as an offensive guru. I _DO think_ that Goff has a bit of a low ceiling when it comes to clutch situations & he's slow & steady, not explosive. Doesn't mean you can't design *around* this. That's what the Lions seem to be doing. Their secondary just shot up to being possibly top 5 & when your team can stop the pass, then a slow, steady offense can really wear down opponents. The other team that has transformed The Most this off-season is the Bears. It kind of sucks that 2 of the best 3 GMs are in the same division. I only hope that the Bears' _coaches_ are working as hand in hand with their GMs as those of the Lions seem to be.
All of Jared’s contract next is not guaranteed at all next year and would save almost 30mil so there is a minor chance that they could do it but not a big one
Scarier!!!! What did we go back into time and draft Jalen Carter!! Did we also not just draft all offense players in the draft!!! Eagles are scary....lions are a house 🐈
@@RealSwaggy on? He is coming off an ACL hes not playing this year. They didn’t even play Jaymo until the end and he was trying to go mid season. Plus Goff has 2 years left on contract.
WTF? You say Campbell might not live up to where he was drafted? But, you had him as a late 1sr rd early 2nd pick…. 15 picks higher isn’t that much of a gap when you get one pick every 32
@@RealSwaggy 👍 the first Lions video I didn’t watch 😂 For sure clickbait for other NFCN fans though! Cool your an Indy Fan but giving so much respect to other teams! Really hope Indy turns the corner for ya too given you have seen them win a Lombardi before at least!
Pundits are too focused on draft stock and positional value in order to completely ignore culture and environmental fit. Every SINGLE YEAR, there are players who are “taken too high” or too low who defy expectations. It’s not guaranteed our players will do that, but relying strictly on metrics and analytics is why these people are media and not coaches
the deciding factor of taking Gibbs had to be for was to keeping Jamo in check like eaglesdid w carter...yes he is electric, and i know holmes jumped the gun way to fast and sign Montgomery imo big mistake...i would of just took bijan n keep swift for 1 yr...and have bijan as ur bell cow n use swift as change of pace back
Thats why we drafted Gibbs he was Swift replacement, they knew swift was goin to traded I even seen reports of him being shopped b4 the draft, what ppl don’t realize is this offense needs a Gibbs/Swift type back as a playmaker out the backfield. Montgomery was Williams replacement & Gibbs was Swift replacement & they’re both more of a home run hitters than Williams & Swift. Ben Johnson said our running game left so many big plays on the field last season
what is it w the myth that drafting a RB high in the draft is bad value? its all based on the premise that a player like gibbs or a bijan robinson can be duplicated much later in the draft. thats poor logic.
Lowkey I just trust that Campbell, Holmes, or whoever saw something in Laporta that they liked. With a lot of the players we passed on (Carter, Bijan, Mayer, etc.) they could've drafted them if they wanted to. So I'm just trusting that the Lions organization saw those intangibles in the guys they got to make them choose them over the other guys.
The panic began when Seattle took the Lions original top pick in Witherspoon, then they panicked, traded down just to grab Gibbs instead of staying put to draft the better Bijan Robinson. Then they practically wasted the 34th pick they received for trading down by taking Campbell at 18th, then Laporta at 34th. By doing that, they screwed themselves out of the best TE in the draft in Dalton Kincaid. Campbell was at best a mid 2nd round talent, no other team in the draft even considered taking an ILB until the Broncos took Drew Sanders at 67.....The Lions could have grabbed Kincaid at 18 then easily taken Campbell at 34, which in my opinion would have still been a reach on Campbell, but at least they would have gotten the best TE in the draft......
@@Jason-lk9yi a lot of people had Michael Mayer the top TE of the draft… yeah if I were to give them a grade, it would be a D+, based not on just talent but on the squandered opportunities overall
You "don't like the value" of an RB at 12; Brad doesn't use a depth chart or position value. He takes the guys he wants as late as he thinks he can get them. He's WAY smarter than us mere mortals.
THAT D LINEMEN - MUST LEARN TO PLAY - LOWER!!!!!!! His first move is UP!!! - As a D Linemen YOU MUST PLAY LOW!!! - If he can learn to do that, and work on his BENCH PRESS!! “GET WITH RODRIGO” on that. He could be a solid (NOT STAR” player!

@@Sumtingwong1969Agree Mike! And lots of improvement to come from this young D-line, especially Alim and Paschal!
If you are gonna be a Lions fan, you are going to have to learn to love middle linebackers...
Lions are on the up and I’m very very impressed with their drafting and team building.
They’ve hit on important positions and were a few pieces away and theoretically aced the draft filling those needs..Playoff caliber team with a 3-4 year window minimum but of course a Qb away from being elite and technically can still win SBs without an elite Qb but remains to be seen..But Hooker could be the guy and no he’s not elite but his athletic intangibles could make up for that
Dude the thumbnail of your video is absolutely outstanding. 😂
How can anyone over look us passing up on j Carter, Nolan Smith and Gonzales
Thank you finally someone with a brain
Lions in the playoffs and 10 win season book it!
8 and 9 miss playoffs no receivers for first 6 games
Upset we missed Jake Moody....
Numbers and stats really don’t mean diddly, if you have the drive and motivation and the mindset of confidence, that’s what shows on Sunday
Going to be a battle on that D line this year these boys loaded up hell so much talent in the secondary it's not a matter of who is going to play but a matter of how do we get these guys on the field lions had a top 5 offense now they got a top 15 D watch out for that Honolulu blue this year
That OG zombies theme remix was dope though
Great draft for the D, Gibbs will be a game changer for many years to come!
That's why I like Holmes he stunns everyone
Seems like a good direction this year
Love the random Zombies music in the background
“I’m not saying he’s TJ Hockenson” Thank God!
Lions had Another Great Draft
2023 🦁
Great draft. Great video. 💯🙏🤙
RB D'Andre Swift traded to Philadelphia Eagles
All in on Gibbs and Montgomery baby
The second LB off the board was Drew Sanders and wasn't he drafted into the late 3rd rd when experts said he'd go in the 2rd rd too. Goes to show they don't know what there talking about. Also News came out that New England was draft Gibbs with the 14th pick.
No way they would have
Another 9 and 8 season put it in the books
Glad to see the narrative has changed
How do the LB’s play out with Anzalone, Rodriguez and Campbell all playing the same position?
Also the “improved” secondary is coming off a lot of injuries.
Sutton missed time for knee and groin issues and has hit the IR because of the groin.
Moseley is coming off a torn ACL
CJGJ missed the last 5 games with a lacerated kidney
Will Harris gave up a 70% completion rate and misses 3 games
Jacobs has torn 2 ACL’s already
Brian branch is coming off a knee injury and ran a 4.6 meaning he’s getting beat by every receiver
I know Lions fans have a Super Bowl trip penciled in but it’ll be interesting to see what happens during the season
Man just said fuck it and put zombies music at the end
💀
That COD Zombies music tho 🔥
The draft is purely about picking players to turn your team into a winner. As long as they believe they picked guys that name the team better and match their culture that’s all I care about
"Value of Position" is pure BS. Make a list of all the players Holmes took in this draft minus where they were taken. Tell me you're not impressed.
It isn’t though. Running backs don’t last.
You're absolutely right
@@RealSwaggy It's come out that teams were planning to take him in between the Lions two first rounders, if they didn't take him at 12 they may not of got him at all
@@RealSwaggy Tell that to ALL the HOF backs out there smh lol
I like the black ops background music! Zombies ftw! I'm so happy about the draft. I dont care about value at the pick at the time if this group turns out to be productive.
This draft seemed like it was to appease Ben Johnson to try to get him to stay..
If Jared balls out again wins a playoff game and gives the Lions a Tom Brady type deal he will be the starter for the future.
And if he doesn’t and wants 50M a season, you have hooker who will be developed the next 2 years
You Goff people need to give it a rest.
Why did you put BO2 music in it lol
JC lil THOR 🧠⚒️💙🦁
Campbell is a beast
I’ve had time to digest the Gibbs pick. I figured going in we would take him but at the end of the first round. I don’t live the spot but if he can be our Kamara then this will be a very good pick
@dishdog7886 time will tell. I think you have been drinking too much Mel kipper hairspray
I knew when Ben Johnson came back they had to promise him some weapons. When it’s your job to make something successful you need tools. Great Tools.
this was made knowing he was replacing swift so were good. Bijan just went. get your guy and don't worry about mock drafts
Scarier!!!! What did we go back into time and draft Jalen Carter!! Did we also not just draft all offense players in the draft!!! Eagles are scary....lions are a house 🐈
The biggest myth in sports is "Pick Value".
I would’ve taken Texas A&Ms (Kam Chancellor clone) safety Antonio Johnson over Branch but we’ll see how things play out.
Lions got the strongest gambling culture, that's for sure.
Hendon has 2 years before he is legitimately ready
Doubtful
@@RealSwaggy on? He is coming off an ACL hes not playing this year. They didn’t even play Jaymo until the end and he was trying to go mid season. Plus Goff has 2 years left on contract.
So for stafford we got Goff, jamo, Gibbs, and laporta
Goff Jamo Gibbs and some random other guy
We tearing up the team that went 9 and 8 .I hope we don't hustle backwards
*upgrading*
WTF? You say Campbell might not live up to where he was drafted? But, you had him as a late 1sr rd early 2nd pick…. 15 picks higher isn’t that much of a gap when you get one pick every 32
5th year options!
Lol didn’t you just do a video the other day calling Lions Stupid 😂 I do love that you give Lions mostly love though🙌
I said at the end that it was clickbait but yeah not a good idea 💀
@@RealSwaggy 👍 the first Lions video I didn’t watch 😂 For sure clickbait for other NFCN fans though! Cool your an Indy Fan but giving so much respect to other teams! Really hope Indy turns the corner for ya too given you have seen them win a Lombardi before at least!
Its about the Player not were he was picked!
Pundits are too focused on draft stock and positional value in order to completely ignore culture and environmental fit. Every SINGLE YEAR, there are players who are “taken too high” or too low who defy expectations. It’s not guaranteed our players will do that, but relying strictly on metrics and analytics is why these people are media and not coaches
yeah they will be pretty scary in last place huh!
the deciding factor of taking Gibbs had to be for was to keeping Jamo in check like eaglesdid w carter...yes he is electric, and i know holmes jumped the gun way to fast and sign Montgomery imo big mistake...i would of just took bijan n keep swift for 1 yr...and have bijan as ur bell cow n use swift as change of pace back
Thats why we drafted Gibbs he was Swift replacement, they knew swift was goin to traded I even seen reports of him being shopped b4 the draft, what ppl don’t realize is this offense needs a Gibbs/Swift type back as a playmaker out the backfield.
Agreed
Most late Rd RBs that thrive are on great teams
I love Pacheko but he's nowhere near Gibbs in terms of talent on the football field
SPEED Kills. (And, so do more WEAPONS) 😉
How does Michael Mayer not fit the culture? The dude is going to be a generational talent, and we will be sad looking back on passing him
I trust Brad and his scouting team wanting Laporta. Laporta does look a little Kelce'ish and Mayer looks really big and slow with short arms.
No short area quickness and kinda pouty when Kincaid went ahead of him
I hope you guys are right. Mayer just looks special to me
Lowkey I just trust that Campbell, Holmes, or whoever saw something in Laporta that they liked. With a lot of the players we passed on (Carter, Bijan, Mayer, etc.) they could've drafted them if they wanted to. So I'm just trusting that the Lions organization saw those intangibles in the guys they got to make them choose them over the other guys.
We are the Lions the Mighty upcoming Lions 😂😂 Pride of the Pack Go Lions 🦁
Goff might be MVP. All he has to do is not mess up
Good thing for Jameson Williams that he already claimed that #1 jersey 😂
I don’t get it
He didn’t get it bro lol
This Goff last season he go play for a west team 2024
This was the signal to todays trade with Philly
We don't really care he was taken at 18, the point is we got the academic Heisman trophy winner in the Lion's den...!!!
My boy throws the zombies music in toward the end its over lions taking the league by storm
MY LIONS 11-6
No! 13 - 4 Nothing Short of the NFC Championship game...
12-5 to 14-3. They're damn good 👍
Lions got two Iowa captains in the draft.
Reaaaaaach. Brad played himself by trading down to 12 thinking he could still get Bijan, and brad then panic picked gibbs
He didn’t want bijan fr
@@OfficalPrinceToni then he’s a bigger fool than I thought
@@notorioustbg Yeah, it was pretty close to 50/50 between Kincaid and Mayer. Mayer just seems a bit soft to me.
You "don't like the value" of an RB at 12; Brad doesn't use a depth chart or position value. He takes the guys he wants as late as he thinks he can get them. He's WAY smarter than us mere mortals.
Yall need to stop with these highlights vs Auburn, PTSD flashbacks

“GET WITH RODRIGO” on that.

Mel kiper and the mock analysts ruin the draft for me I don’t look at those anymore. I’ve never gone back to a player who was picked and is successful and said man they could’ve gotten better positional value😂 it’s such a dumb argument. Take your guy where you want him and where you think you can get him
Great character > great talent..we were lucky enough to.get both duhhh😂
They coulda took Jack Campbell at 12 and I would have bend fine with it. Guy is instantly their best defensive player, and that’s even including Aiden.

@@iBMcFly you called a rookie who was projected late 2nd round pick the best player on the defense🤣 I’m sorry but that’s insulting..9 - 8 season again at best li9ns shit the bed
@@philphilly5.021 “projected” draft placement, and mock drafts aren’t based on reality and are flawed lol, Tom Brady wouldn’t have gone 199th if they had any merit. Jack Campbell won the award for best linebacker in the country, I’m from the Midwest and sun Iowa fan, if you haven’t seen him play you wouldn’t understand, if you have seen him play, you just don’t know football if you don’t understand that the Campbell pick was an A+ pick.
