    Another reason Disney is closing the ride down could be to avoid fixing the numerous broken effects of the ride and instead just build a retheme with cheaper effects, such as screens, projection faces, etc. They have promised animatronics, but given Disney's track record with new rides, they will probable be limited throughout the ride. I am disappointed I only got to ride Splash Mountain twice.

    • @themeparktheories1040
      @themeparktheories1040  11 месяцев назад +4

      I was considering that as a reason too, but I just can’t see Disney doing something like that. If that was the case then wouldn’t they do the same result for a ride such as Haunted Mansion? Especially with them clearly knowing that Splash Mountain is a super popular attraction, they wouldn’t want to close it down just due to broken effects. But yea I definitely think the closure of this ride is why Disney let it go for the past few years. Such a shame really

    I think the marketing team behind Disney noticed that they don't have a ride with a black princess. Instead of building a new attraction, they decided to retheme an existing attraction. I think they want to save maintenance, because animatronics are expensive. They will probably use screens and maybe one expensive animatronic. Bob Iger believes that every attraction needs an ip slapped on to sell more merchandise or whatever.
    I think the song of the south controversy is just circus to ease the retheme. Disney expects us to be grateful that they are doing the retheme. To understand this move one has to look at other Disney parks. In DLP they slapped star wars on their space mountain. The tower of terror got rethemed to marvel.
    I expect this new attraction to be a downgrade. An attempt to sell merchandise with a black princess. I think soon we find out that big thunder mountain was problematic the whole time and we have to slap an ip on it.

    • @FreakingDress92
      @FreakingDress92 5 месяцев назад

      PATF replaced SOTS theme because it’s the only other southern movie Disney has. Not because it features a black princess. Like, you didn’t think Tangled or Frozen would have fit in the SOUTHERN area of Magic Kingdom did you? I mean I get blaming a character’s race is the easiest way to make your excuse to be an indirect bigot because you’re super butt hurt about the reasonable retheme, but at least have a more logical explanation based on facts. But hey, the more people hate, the less I’ll have to wait in line on opening day, so kindly stay bitter please.

    I can see them turning it into a more elaborate Frozen ride. Doesn’t fit the area, but i think all that went out the window a while ago. I can see Disney one day eliminating the lines between lands so the can fit what ever they want, anywhere they want to better utilize space and existing buildings. Right now it seems they might find a space needing some sort of update, realizing a new attraction is in order and creating a movie around that fact to fill that space. Seems like they did that with the subs.. Coming out with water themed movies till one was successful, then re-themed the ride with it.

    If the scenario was that of the movie Princes and the Frog that could have worked: there’s a lot of characters that translate nicely to animatronics and the movies setting matches that of the original splash mountain without much change. Honestly the movie has enough of a tense plot line to work alongside that drop.
    But then you hear the story: it’s apparently Tiana gathering ingredients? Umm…k…adventure ho!
    This is what I’ve heard. Maybe they’ll surprise but I doubt it. Disney threw context to the wind and valued budget cuts. I heard rumors that the experience is mostly screens which I personally can’t stand because it kills the immersive factor.

    After watching your video I have to agree with you. This re theme of Splash Mountain to Tiana's Bayou Adventure is not only problematic to Splash Mountain in both parks in the United States but a recipe for disaster waiting to happen. Not only Disney broke a lot of rules and waist a lot of money during designing and building the new attraction in both parks but they made a lot of Disney fans unhappy. Not only this is sad but this is also really bad. A lot of angry people are going to get Disney to sign a contract to not allow anymore classic attractions getting re themes in the Disney Parks after Walt Disney's work. Just because how this attraction and or even Mission Breakout is not as good as Tower of Terror or just the failures of this re themed classic attraction alone. Ether way Tiana's Bayou Adventure is going to be one of the worst re themed attractions in Disney theme park history because everyone else is not going to be happy with this re theme of Splash Mountain. Everyone is not interested in this because they don't want it and the Save Splash Mountain petition created by Eric Thibeault is now at 99,840 signatures. Tiana is a great Disney Princess but this is not the kind of attraction she should be taking part in. For Disneyland fans this is not going to share the same success as the Tower of Terror re theme. The reason why Mission Breakout worked so well because because the Marvel stuff that Disney is doing in their parks right now is very popular and Tiana's Bayou Adventure was definitely a step back.
    Which is why everyone is saying no to the Splash Mountain re theme because everyone one is protesting and fighting against the re theme and Disney is not paying attention to the public. In all honesty this re theme to a classic attraction is just so bad it’s unbearable. Disney is being very stupid to where they get rid of their most well know ride that attracts tourists by billions every year and getting rid of it because of a misunderstanding situation. It's about time to get revenge on Bob Iger and Carmen Smith.
    After the re theme of Splash Mountain in 2024 we need to remove Bob Iger the CEO of the Walt Disney Company from office and hire a new CEO to make Disney great again along with getting Carmen Smith Creative Development at Disney Parks Experiences and Products fired from Walt Disney Imagineering for erasing history on Splash Mountain and hire someone else to take over her spot and change things back the way they were.
    The only way to bring the Song of the South characters and songs back on Splash Mountain in Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida is to boycott Tiana's Bayou Adventure, go on the new Marvel attractions including Mission Breakout in Disney’s California Adventure and give Bob Iger and Carmen Smith a run for their money. The reason why I’m saying this because the Marvel stuff that Disney is doing in their parks right now is not only popular but by far having the best Marvel themed attractions, lands and other things that Disney is doing. Ever since Tower of Terror in Disney’s California Adventure is re themed to Mission Breakout it was not only the first Marvel attraction ever built and it’s not only a success but it’s the best re themed attraction. Not only that Disney owns Marvel which is why we have theses Marvel movies and TV shows on Disney Plus and Disney is thinking of every attraction and land they can think of for their parks based theses Marvel movies and TV shows. Plus once Disney re themed Tower of Terror to Mission Breakout in Disney's California Adventures at Disneyland in California they cannot re theme the original Tower of Terror in Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida. So that is going to be the biggest downfall for Tiana's Bayou Adventure because the Disneyland Splash Mountain was not only the first Splash Mountain built in 1989 but it's the oldest Splash Mountain in the Disney Parks and with the Walt Disney World Tower of Terror same thing. I hope we will get some better people to work for the Walt Disney Company. Because right now since 2020 around the same year COVID-19 happened both Bob Iger and Carmen Smith have been doing some weird and not very good things theses past couple of years.They not only lay-off Disney employees and Cast Members in the Walt Disney Company and the Disney Parks but they also made men dressed up like Disney Princesses and other bad things that's hurting the Walt Disney Company. They also made the park guest unhappy about the reservations to the Disneyland parks and rides.

      Also guardians trilogy was great and that rocket animatronic is cool! It’s not tower of terror, but they at least kept the best one open in Florida.

    I do own a copy of Song of the South. I watch it now and again and I get the same feeling every time. Aside from the wonderful animation, it really isn't that good of a film. It's also not this horrible racist movie that a vocal minority make it out to be. And I have a pretty good bet that none of them have actually seen the film. To use that as an excuse to take out Splash Mountain is pretty ridiculous.

    Instead of hiding a story and a Disney franchise that had absolute potential ,Brer Rabbit running from brer bear and bear fox is absolutely potential stories ,the ride itself was a great ride ,the only reason people said it needed a update because of its accusations ,they say the ride was falling apart ,look at haunted mansion ,pirates they maintained old animatronics why should they have changed it because it’s getting old if them releasing the new retheme that no single soul asked for just political Marxist’s who were uneducated behind what they claim is racist ,the ride wasn’t falling apart is just Disney failed to maintain the ride the ride didn’t have any maintenance at all since 2021 the ride should have changed the way other rides add and change new things ,splash mountain was loved by absolute everybody the music the characters and the story of Brer Rabbit welcomed back home,once I became back to Disney I was absolutely discussed with them hating these characters ,the characters needed to be merch sold everywhere,I am here having custom Disney merch makers making me a Brer Rabbit and brer bear and Fox ,had me going out and buy a brer bear plush for 170$

    Ya know, if they absolutely had to retheme it, I wished they rethemed it around *_Amphibia_* instead. That universe feels like a better fit for a story in the swamplands that ends in a scary 50-foot plunge. Plus seeing the Plantars as animatronics would have been really cool.

      Yea that could be a pretty neat idea, especially seeing how that’s one of the more popular Disney shows, however it’s incredibly rare for them to put a Disney show IP in the parks. The only one they’ve done is Phineas and Ferb and it’s only walk around characters.

    • @CrimsonID4
      @CrimsonID4 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@themeparktheories1040 Yeah that's true. Back in the 90's they seemed more willing to put their tvtoons in parks. I remember Mickey's Toon Town being created specifically so you could meet other toons. I get the sense that Eisner appreciated all of Disney's animated properties whereas Iger only cares about the ones that make the most money.
      If you put a picture of Wendy Corduroy, Frankie Foster, and Icky Vicky and asked him which character does Disney own, I'd doubt he'd know.

      @@CrimsonID4 Toontown is an eye sore for die hard disneylanders, but splash was iconic old people liked it, liberals at the time liked it, kids loved it, it had the American sings critters that everyone adored and the fact Tony brought them back because that ride closed was awesome. So much to love about splash mountain even when Disney wanted you to believe it was old and outta date by not maintaining it for 3 years.

    I believe both attractions will face racial issues, no matter how you look at it. However, The Princess and the Frog stands out because it includes black individuals. There will be a black vocal artist involved in the ride's soundtrack, and black people were part of the original film. On the other hand, the person who voiced characters in Splash Mountain was not black and may have used an offensive imitation of a black voice. While I love Splash Mountain and consider it a Disneyland staple, I understand the need for change, especially in promoting diversity and inclusivity in film. I genuinely believe this change will result in a fantastic ride and an engaging story. Splash Mountain will always be remembered as one of the best rides in history, thanks to its genuine storytelling and impressive engineering.

      Several of the voice actors in Splash Mountain were black. J.D. Hall voiced Brer Fox and James Avery voiced Brer Bear & Brer Frog in the WDW version. In the DL version, the original (black) actor of Brer Bear, Nick Stewart, returned to voice his character 40 years after the movie.

    I’m not trying to discredit your video. However you aren’t in a position to talk as you have never seen the film “Song of the South”. The overall message of the film is exactly what you said the message of splash mountain was… “be satisfied with what you have”. This is extremely harmful in the context of “Song of the South” because it’s about being grateful for your “Master” because they essentially “protect” the slaves from harm and house them… please educate yourself further before spreading harmful messages. I have seen “Song of the South” dozens of times and it truly was a harmful film in its time and still a harmful film today.
