  • Help needed for my LG Flatron W2242T-PF LCD Monitor!!!
    Don't really know what's happening here and couldn't find any answer closed to my problems before I decided to take any actions of repairing this monitor by myself.
    I'd owned this monitor for almost 3 years since Jan-2009 and it was on my wife's PC. She hardly use, maybe about an hour or two per day, and it's mainly for her surfing the web and so on, and she don't play any hardcore/graphical intense games.
    This problem had occured about 3 days after posting this video up, and without a warning except an electrical buzzing sound from a Choke or a Relay behind the panel, since about six months of usage before I'd passed down to her, and I don't think the buzzing sound would cause this on 4:55 ~ 5:30. I had dismantled it to check the capacitors and none of them seemed to be bloated which I'd initially thought of to be causing this problem. I'd checked the ribbon cable leading from the PCB to the LCD panel and the backlight, no problems found.
    So, what's the real problem here? Hope you guys can give some answers by leaving some answers in in the comment box below.
    A very BIG Thank You for watching and in advance for your answers.

    Check Signal Cable. Decoder to LCD screen Flat Cable connectors. Push in firmly. Possible contact problem due to greasy finger print or something. Not the power supply, but decoder board to LCD.

    i think this monitor is sold out in 2017 but if you have problem like that, 1 step.. check 12 volt output from psu board using a multimater also test every diode, check 24volt output to inverter is every voltage ok? voltage parameter you can read on your psu board.. i bet its less power to inverter, replace 2pcs smd power mosfet inverter under psu board.. if all voltage to mainboard and inverter is good.. cleaning your lvds cable and flex cable using an eraser..

    This is a bad way to do RUclips videos! Probably you have much time to waste.. if you want to show defect show it and stop, do not show all the tear down process, i first thought that this was a video solution and wasted my time.. :(

    actually it is t-con board or timing control board "not t-com". Its just one of the possible reason another is the ribbon wire connecting to the LCD itself.

    Dude,its display has damaged.i was having lg led monitor E2040T.for which problem was perfectly the same as shown in the video,from start to end.There is no any problem in its motherboard,i cross checked changing it's capacitors,crystals.but the problem remains the same.
    So finally I purchased a new display,just to make sure for my judgement,and it worked absolutely fine.So I recommend to take a new monitor,as the display price is high.

    Have you tried using the VGA input instead of the DVI? Your video showed vertical bands of color. I have seen this with poor connection at DVI connector so maybe wiggling connector will change? If so maybe cold solder joint where connector is attached to circuit board. Try poking on components with monitor disassembled to see if anything changes while tapping on parts. Even though the electrolytic capacitors looked good in power supply there could be a bad one letting ripple through

      maybe are the flat cables over the panel or the flat cable from the video card, or a faulty chip on the video card, all about the video signal.

    Mister Buzzer..the blue thing, it's a polypropylene capacitor.

  • @geraldlkc
    @geraldlkc  13 лет назад +2

    @MegaRami92 Thought IF your problem is exactly the same as mine, then I assumed that it would be TFT panel to be defective. But then again maybe not, it could be the circuitary component(s) as mine is intermittent if I dismantle and press them down, and turn back on again...still the results be the same.
    Oh well, if i do have the time and pull myself away from gaming, i will try to rectify asap.

    wait isnt this a graphic card problem?

  • @geraldlkc
    @geraldlkc  13 лет назад +1

    @ObsessedGeorge I don't think so. It's something to do with circuitary component failure. The problem was intermittent and most likely on the Relay, Regulators or Capacitors.
    Anyway, I had taken down all the specifications on all the components for purchase and will replace them one by one. Once done, I will update its status, here.

    I have a LG Flatron E2290V that just randomly cuts out to a black screen. This is a replacement monitor after the original one I purchased started having crazy wavy lines all over it. LG has some major issues. They sent me the replacement monitor with the wrong power adapter. Another week goes by, I get the correct power adapter only to find out the new monitor doesn't work! The only good part about LG Customer Service rep has been great trying to get this resolved.

    У меня такая же неисправность много вертикальных полос и много цветов радуги и воняет чем то, маленькая плата где разъемы приходят с компа, на ней пробит был транзистор большей вертикальный черный такой после его замены стал включаться монитор, до этого не включался, рядом ещё одна микросхема, они рядом стоят восьминожечные, и рядом стабилизатор на 3.3 вольта, слегка поджаренный край, микросхема ближе на плате к двум электролитам она зажаренная весь верх не понятно какая, на вашем видео как бы видно её но тоже прочитать не могу сливаются буквы цифры не четко видно. до платы не могу добраться что на самом мониторе, болты не хотят откручиваться, я короче плюнул, а пущу ка я его на радиодетали матрицу выкину в мусорку, куплю новый монитор так лучше будет. Плату нашел на али-экспресс там цена 3 тыс руб, на авито за 1 тысячу руб монитор продают.

My monitor of the same brand, gets this problem after a long time of use, works well for more than hour and then starts this problem. I took the back cover off and plugged in a side fan for testing and the problem ended. Is it a heating problem? Because with the fan on behind the lcd the problem no longer occurs. So now I'm going to try to put a heatsink on each component to find out where the problem is or I'll install a mini 12v cooler to see if it works out because I want to close the monitor since it's working open. If I discover news, I'll be right back.

      I just opened up the same display, if you have the same you would know that only at the powersupply these type of caps are located. I quickly got the caps out and tested them with my lcr meter but they just seemed fine. After placing them back and searching for other causes I heard the coil on the display pcb (under the metal cover attached to the display lines). also the interval frequency of the coil hickup was the same as that of the misformd picture showing on the display. Still suspect the input voltages to be faulty and making that switching supply (coil) hickup. Still have to measure the voltage lines but was to lazy to get one of my scopes and just told my brother to buy new screens anyway.
      Since a lot of people have this problem I will make some time soon and do some measurements trying to figure out the fault.

    That's a shame, I have the W2242T too, it's about 1 month older than yours. It could be a problem with the decoding circuitry inside the flat panel itself, so it might be a write off. I was hoping mine would only need a new backlight after ~5 years, I hope the circuits don't go bad like in yours. I use it heavily, but put my PC to sleep whenever I'm away, so it probably does 8 hrs per day, but it does that EVERY day.

    3.Still in Safe Mode, open Driver Sweeper or CC Cleaner (if you have either one) to get rid of the 'residue'
    4.Reboot PC into Normal mode and install the Graphic Drivers, and Reboot it again to see results.
    5.Scan PC for any possible infected Malware, Adware or Viruses that may cause any unwanted Startup programs.
