Hey Mike. Love your videos and I learn a lot from you. Did you happen to notice the system time on your switch was showing a date of Dec 31, 1969? I’m betting that’s why it never showed as connected.

Great video, can you go more indepth with configuring Fortiswitches when a Fortigate is in transparent mode (especially connected to other non Fortinet firewalls, routers and switches) along with working within the Fortiswitches CLI and it's own GUI?

Thanks for the video. I have a use case with a Fortigate that has 2 internet connections. These plug into wan1 & wan2. I have SD-WAN configured. Now I would like to add a Fortiswitch and be able to use the internal networks of the provider modems on the Fortiswitch as well (layer 2 only obviously). Is that possible?

Mike, could you do a video on FortiLink redundancy a la PortChannel?

Hey, thanks for the video, was a great help. I've created VLAN etc etc on the FortiSwitch and assigned VLAN's to ports. Do you by any change know if it possible to add a fortigate port to a VLAN configured on the FortiSwitch? F.I. port 6 in the FortiSwitch is configured as VLAN 20 using DHCP 192.168.20.1 - 192.168.20.253, I have some free ports on the FortiGate, can I add one of those ports on the FortiGate to use VLAN 20 using DHCP 192.168.20.1 - 192.168.20.253 instead of creating a new VLAN on the FortiGate? I would like to assign a port on the FortiGate to join the FortiSwitch VLAN if this possible. I can't find information if this is even possible. Thanks anyhow and again thanks for your video's!

I have the same issues. I have Fortigate VLAN that I want to add to the switch. The only way I can add it is if I delete it and create VLAN on Switch

Hello, why do we need a fortiswitch, cannot we just use FortiGate as a switch for the LAN? if we want to expose my servers to the internet(web server), should I have 2 ethernet cards, one that connects to the fortiswtich for internal traffic, and one that connects to the fortigate directly for DMZ? what if I wanted to connect from my server on the private plan behind the switch to the internet?

An I missing something when it comes to using the internal hardware switch as fortlink interface on my 60e running 6.2 3? I don't have the option to edit an existing fortlink interface and even after removing all references to it, could not get that as an option.

Remove all references, DHCP servers included. Go into the CLI and set it as a FortiLInk interface. The GUI wants you to build new custom ones (so you would have to break up the internal hardware switch and essentially recreate it on the GUI)

Hi Mike, As always, enjoy your videos.
Can you give some advice/direction or better yet, a video :) on how to add a fortiswitch to a 3rd party managed switch? So for example, from the Fortigate to a 3rd party switch and then from that 3rd party switch to a fortiswitch.
Is the process the same or will Fortilink even work? Any help you or anyone can give would be great!

Good suggestion. That is most likely going to be Fortilink over Layer 3. I will see if I can do a video for ya.

Mike I am disappointed you did not show how to fix this error. I have an out of the box switch and all showing as offline. It has to do with the time being wrong.

@@FortinetGuru The error was with the STP from the FortiGate to the FortiSwitch. It still has the settings from 4 years ago. Configuring the FortiGate as a standalone STP for the fortilink resolved my error and corrected the time sync on the fortiswitch.
