I had foot surgery and our dog would sniff it and walk off and random times the should lick at it that it was trying to get infected and it was. I would let her clean it off and it healed perfectly. My Dr said well your incision looks very well, no infection or anything. He asked what was I putting on it I said I'm not, my dog licks it. She did the same with my hubby and his diabetic feet and toes.
Simians use grooming as a tool in social bonding, similar to the way humans have conversations. It's also indicative of their place in the social hierarchy.... all that stuff is removed when it's a pet monkey, but they still do it. It'd be awesome to know what it's accomplishing in their mind, other than being peak ASMR lol
