It seems that the only people hating on this are the people who only know joker from the movies. If any of the people hating picked up any of the comics with joker in it, you'd see it's perfect. They did great at joker, especially the original joker story, so what if he doesn't have green hair till the end, you assholes didn't complain that heath ledger looked NOTHING like the joker at all. These guys got the New52 joker down right, and got the personality of that mixed with the original joker.

This interpretation was actually really good. It was the first one I watched that genuinely made me uncomfortable and gave me chills. Good job, man.
Okay. Well it was definitely a very well-made film. But it was no Joker film. The character in this film was not the Joker. If you read any contemporary Batman/Joker comic, the thing about him is that he bridges comedy and tragedy. He's theatrical and weird. He relishes in the macabre and tries to make it into something funny. He laughs and has this energy around him. This film used none of the essential elements of the Joker as a character and just did another fairly bland murder film. This character was Hannibal Lecter. Or Dexter. Or the guy from Saw. Or any other slow-talking serial killer. This film has nothing unique to offer about the character. He was no Joker.
I completely agree. The joker is supposed to be the antithesis of Batman so he needs to be funny, and light hearted especially when concerning death. Basically they came close but got a bit too dark and lacked in humour

The real Slim Shady No he wasn't. The New 52 Joker laughs, he's theatrical and ridiculous and he makes a gag out of all if his crimes. This character wasn't the Joker.

The actor playing the Joker is Zach Avery, the ponzi schemer who is currently in jail for 20 years. I guess he had a criminal mind just like the joker. His line delivery got pretty tedious and repetitive. He was going for creepy and it worked for a few minutes then just became a schtick. That's what separates greats who've played Joker. Those actors create a fully fleshed out character. Not just an actor trying to sound creepy.

Thank god, I was afraid I was gonna go to the comment section and see this being praised by everyone. Don't be fooled by the amazing production design, everything else is super cringe worthy - especially the acting.

There is a lot of good in this fan film. It has what a lot of fan films lack, a spark of creativity. Too many people imitate what they see, but this is definitely original. The best part of this fan film is definitely the cinematography. It looks really professional and clean. Honestly, it looks better than most superhero movies nowadays. In particular, I love the tooth fairy sequence. Unconnected from the rest of the DC canon this holds up very well, but I personally cannot see this Joker as Batman's future archnemesis. The performance is chilling and creepy but I never feel like I'm watching the Joker. While a new spin on something old can be good, I feel like he relies too much on physical violence. I feel this way about many modern interpretations of the character, if the Joker's motif is needless violence, it loses its value. The reason people remember The Killing Joke is the Joker's motivation. The Joker didn't shoot Barbara Gordon because he likes shooting people, he did it to torment Commissioner Gordon on a psychological level. That he is committing all these awful acts to simply prove a point. It shows how little he values human life. Joker sees his crimes as theatre, however, if all his crimes are based solely on violence it shows that he sees value in human life, since he sees the estinguishing of it as unique. Plus their are plenty of murderers out there, it makes the Joker seems less unique and intersting if he is just a murderer. The audience also doesn't have a grasp on what this Joker's deal is. If his only motivation is revenge than he comes off as too human and relatable, taking away the fear. Since he killed Dr Hawtins, what motivates him in the future? At the end it is implied that he will continue being the Joker but we never understand why. I get a creepypasta vibe from this video which personally rubs me the wrong way. Since both Joker and Harley have gone through similar trauma, it seems like they actual value eachother which makes the Joker even more humanized. This would work except a lot of the film builds up Joker as an enigmatic figure. A little moment in the film which I did enjoy was when Joker dropped Harley on the floor as soon as the music stopped. It showed that he valued his audience over her wellbeing. I just feel that if he is the central character of the film, we should have a better understanding of his motivations and values. I really like the Harley Quinn though. She has the right amount of childish charm and unhinged intelligence that all Harley Quinns should have. On a more superficial note, I really like her costume, its the right amount of suggestive and colorful. It's practical while still keeping the essentials of the original. The Suicide Squad costume is too sexualized, to the point where it is hard to take the character seriously. Despite spending the majority of this comment on my personal negatives, I did enjoy this film and I hope you continue to make films.

I think this was quite cool. Some creative shots and very professional looking short. However in my opinion the man who played the Joker reminded me more of Hannibal Lecter than the man he was actually representing. This film got Joker's psychopathy right but not the spirit, I keep waiting for the actual 'laugh of the Joker' without actually getting it. This is in no way a bad film and has of course it's own version of Joker, I just don't think this is the overall representation people are expecting and that's why they're a bit disappointed.
You are absolutely right, everything was good but that thing with his laughing is missing, I hope they knew what they were doing and maybe we'll see more of this in the future.

Harley was brilliant. Her accent was perfect (Something lacking in Suicide Squad for some reason), and the actor who played the Joker had this presence about him. To me, this guy IS the Joker.

I absolutely love this. it's so well done and I just adore their take on Joker. it's obvious they know a lot about him, but at the same time they changed major parts of the clasic character. that takes some serious (no pun intended) guts. He has a strong 'death of the family' vibe, which is my favorite comic interpretation of him. Not to mention great casting and amazing editing & cinematography. Wow.
Also Peggy and the Laughing Man dancing is one of the best things I have ever witnessed.

The new 52 are fairly recent comics, where J is based on the original inspiration for the Joker which was a black and white film titled 'The Man Who Laughs'. The form of the Joker taken in this short is 'The Pale Man' who is unscrupulously demented and not quite like how the Joker is typically depicted.
I get what you are saying regarding his missing 'essence' but I'm sure if you loosen your constrictions on how you want the joker to be, you might find that you'd like it.
But it's still not your place to tell people to not bother watching it. People happen to have their own opinions and they don't have to agree with your own. Advisory statements are fine, but generalizations are not imho.
After a couple of years since I last saw this short film and I still love it. I love the choices that were made. The Mad Love chemistry between him and Peggy/Harley. The song and the dance that they do I just love it.

They are two different Jokers, my friend. One does not simply compare George Washington's face to Abraham Lincoln's just because they are both on a coin.
This version could have been fleshed out a lot more than it was, especially with the Joker, not....jesting....Even the comic book iteration showed him making jokes about things, and this one didn't make any. But, this is merely an interpretation of a very dark version of the Joker, and apart from some flaws, it was pulled off well enough for me to call him the Joker.

Okay, to everyone who has their panties in a bunch, it doesn't have to be a 100% accurate, panel by panel representation of the Joker. It's their interpretation and take on him. They made him psychotic and realistic, and that's great. Sure, he didn't laugh much, but he doesn't have to. If he did, I can guarantee their would be people complaining how his laugh isn't perfect, or how it isn't close enough to Hamill's or Ledger's. Its an adaptation of him. Nothing has to be exactly like the comics, or previous versions of the character. If it were, it would be boring because we would know everything that happens. I love this take on him, and personally think he looks like Frank Miller's Joker from The Dark Knight Returns. This is a great representation and original take on the Joker, and the story is nice as well.

The film looks good, but I don't like how the Joker's written. People nowadays tend to push him in one direction and just roll with it to the extremes to make him stand out, and this is what I feel happened here. Its not bad, I just don't feel like this is the Joker. I feel like I'm watching a film where a serial killer takes Joker's look as a shitck.

The5armdamput33 I understand where your coming from but I do agree he could've joked once or twice but he was really interesting to me. The joker is great at plotting things he's not dumb he knows what he's doing he just has no regard for human life. He was really stoic and they should've turned it down a notch. But this joker was creepy and disturbing which is great because this is like hardcore joker. He reminds me of the Leto Joker but much more dark and statistic. I like him but I respect your opinion and I thank you for not arguing with me since there's a lot of people who would just cuss me out cause I said this.

Joker is good at plotting..... But do you know what he plots? Madness... Chaos... Nihilism.... Leto's Joker is wrong too, but for a different reasons....
You just have to look at the comics to see this.... But I you want a live-action Joker done right, look at Ledger in 'The Dark Knight'
Or another fan made film, 'The City of Scars'
They both handle the Joker differently, but they both live for creating chaos.... the Joker in this film is basically Victor ZsaasZ....
And neither Leto, nor the actor in 'The Laughing Man' are recognizable as the Joker....

It's a great bold new reimagining of both Harley and Joker perfect for a fan film. But I will say his hair being green doesn't really make sense. A neon light show for the crowd? His descent into lunacy as he kills more and more? It's not really explored. Or I don't get it

A great film but he didn't really strike me as the Joker. Mainly because he didn't actually joke, I think he was a bit too Hannibal Lecter. Great character, great fiilm, loved it, but it's not the Joker imo.
My God. This was incredible. An amazing job from the actors to the script to the camera work. Everything fell into place.
I really don't know why people are saying that this wasn't Joker. The Joker has different ways of acting which are all cannon. He has a funnier side and he has a darker side. I belive that this represented the jokers more darker side perfectly.

Definitely the Joker 100%. They knew exactly what they were doing and they masterfully created their own version of the Joker in a super dope short story. Hints of New 52 with their own twist. Sick as fuck don't hate!
