- In this video, we will learn how to program Conventional Analog, and Conventional P25 Channels into the Harris Unity XG-100P Radio.
The same programming can be used for other Harris radios.
The video starts by going over some of the radios features and some options akin to someone who has been looking to purchase, has already purchased, or has an interest in continued learning.
This video does not cover how to program Trunking, or Non-Affiliate Scan.

This video is insanely valuable. I really do hope you do more videos. No questions left unanswered for me at the moment. Came to find the PL tones... stayed for the CGs lol.
I appreciate that! I do need to do a video on how to program NAS.
Made the NAS programming video if you're interested!
Where can I get this programming software?
Excellent tutorial. I have been programming conventional and P25C with anXG-100M.
It is not dificult, just the tedium of the data entry. P25 trunking, especially a multi-site, state wide system, now you have a barrel of worms. The Unity does NAS nicely, but this stage of programming is so vastly different from /\/\, it is starting over.
I do hope you can work up your tutorial for that. TNX
Great videos! Very helpful. Any thoughts about doing a video for setting up DMR on the Harris UnityXG-100P?
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. With that being said, any chance you can post or share instructions on how to set up trunking? The county I live in is all P25 trunked. Non-affiliate monitoring only, of course.
I think I will perform that tutorial next!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! id be so lost without this video.
Thank you so much for making the video. I am familiar with Motorola and of course radio systems which meant I had a head start. Your video helped me immensely, it got me going with full steam. Now I just completed my 15th system all conventional. I have been practicing with setting up NAS but haven’t had any luck getting it all to work yet. I look forward to your next video/s. I would love to have some help with NAS. Thank you again, great job and keep it going. 👍🏻👍🏻.
I can do NAS for you. Contact me.
@@stevestout6136 thank you for getting back to me. I have since figured out how to program NAS. It works very well and I like this radio much better then a Motorola radio. Now I'm trying to find information on how the program mult-site receive for my state system. Its 1 system Nac & Wacn, but has different RFSS and Site ID's per area. Maybe there's a question of why do I want to do this? Example there's 3 counties who all simulcast there tkgps over each of there sites. There's 3 sites but its part of the state system. If programmed correctly I can hear all 3 counties tkgps no matter which county I'm in. Im assuming this is possible to do, Im just very new to harris RPM. Thank you for the help
@@anthonypetralia1592 Should be able to do it with the same WACN but different Site ID's just fine. I have multiple systems on a simulcast network. I just create different systems for each one but they all use the same wacn, just different site id.
Thanks! Just what I needed. Keep 'em coming. 73 de N8NMG - Dayton Amateur Radio Association - Miami Valley P25 Network Come see us at Hamvention! AND Happy Birthday.
I’m just trying to figure out how to get the software for this radio. Ugh so far I have a brick that looks really cool
Here too…just picked up a “nos” for a great price but need the RPM softeare
Any chance you’re willing to share the interoperability plan? I was gonna make one and that would be a MAJOR time saver.
Sure! Send me your email.
I second that request!!!

Would love to know about P25 Trunking!!
Video is up now!
I was curious if the XG100P had an option similar to reverse burst/turn off code to eliminate squelch tail like on Motorola.
Thanks for this. Just became the proud owner of one, and this video was a great help. One questions, programmed for p25 hotspot, when receiving there is this annoying beep right before person starts talking. Any idea what setting that is? Turned off CCT and TX busy no love.
My pleasure! It is a wonderful radio with a ton of features. A perfect P25 radio for a Ham imo wanting NAS. I also have a NAS tutorial as well.
AWESOME video. Going from Astro25 to RPM was a huge learning curve. PLEASE do more, including NAS!!!! The Unity series is appealing (except for the $$). It can be my 2m/70cm handheld, my P25 Zumspot radio, and my NAS public safety scanner all in one.
Question: Can you scan across systems. Using your tutorial "codeplug" (mission plan is a marketing gimmick), can I scan all three systems you created at the same time? If i created one system for all local Ham repeaters and my zumspot I could...but if I did two systems??? System 1 would be local Ham repeaters and System 2 would be P25 Zumspot...System 3 would be 700/800 P25 public safety NAS. Asking for a friend...hi, hi.
That would be a "Radio Wide Scan" type of Scan List and the only Radios I know that are capable (that I own) are EF Johnson Viking Series and Motorola XTS,APX Series. I'm sure there are more of those models and manufacturers out there with this capability. I am going by my experience only!
I’m very new to Harris and learning. I’ve made leaps and bounds now that I understand how Harris does it. I’m trying to understand something that no one’s been able to give a strait answer:
When you write (program), Is the radio supposed to reboot? Only asking because mine does not, and if I programmed via BT, audio won’t pass until I’ve manually rebooted the radio.
Hello! My radio doesnt reboot reboot but it does sort of go into a quick sleep and then wakes back up whenever I write a mission plan to it so I see that that is normal.
Interesting that it won't pass audio until it's rebooted. I'd love to look at your settings.
@@unityxg if the BT is still connected to the PC, I have to reboot to disable the BT connection. Thanks for the reply!
Great video very informative, if you selected p25 conventional and entered a gmrs Frequency would it transmit in digital voice ? Or still in analog mode
It should still transmit in P25 if that frequency was programmed as a P25 Conventional channel :)
It is specified where you program the specific channel. It will ask if it's an analog or digital channel.
outstanding video. what can i do if the repeater tones are digital? for example 251N
Thank you! Just put that code into the CG field. It'll take an analog or a digital tone.
@@unityxgthanks for the information!
I have just obtained a Unity XG-100P and I am having some extreme dificulty with it. I have gone through your tutorial and I am still unable to transmit or recieve. I need help in this.
I have created both convention and P25 conventions systems. I want both system channels on the same set. I do not want to have to switch between P25 and conventional.
You can do this if you create just a P25 Conventional system and also put your analog channels in the same list and select "analog" instead of "c4fm".
Can you do digital PL with the XG100P? Can't figure out how to put that into RPM. Also, can you describe what STE and CCT are as seen in the Conv Frequency Sets window?
Of course! Instead of putting a PL tone under the CG fields just put your DPL code. Harris made it simple! If we compare it to Moto CPS, I have to say that the Harris software is much easier to work with once you find your way around it.
@@unityxg I did figure that bit out. Also miraculously managed to get trunked phase 2 system into it today. Amazing. Thanks again!
Great video backing it up just in case it goes poof thank you for your service
Yes, finally! Someone brave enough to make avideo to show us where to get this RPM and how to hack the licensing and ACC crap so we can program are harris radios to affiliate scan on p25 trucking systems! I'm so tired of these other hamsters that cower like gerbils and don't have the balls to make videos showing us how to do this with harris radios. The people on radioreferences just tell me to go f**k myself everytime i ask for the software! How rude! Please provide us with a link for the RPM software and the wideband when you make the trunking programming video. Could you also make a video showing how to use and where to get the encryption software so we can load keys into are radios for trunking programming and to also keep the scanner users from listening to are ham frequencys. ;) Thanks!
are you going to do a video for rpm2?
When I get some home time, absolutely!
Where can someone acquire the programming software?
lemme borrow that till ya know......friday..lol. my 866 xts is jellous
i emailed you!
Is there a way I could email you? I have a couple questions.
Sure!
@UNITYXG if you don't mind I'd love to talk to you as well regarding access to software and requirements for said software as far as legal requirements to make sure I don't get myself in trouble (WRMR484)
@@maxarseniy3039 Feel free to email me
What is CCT and STE?
I believe STE stands for "Stealth Emergency", and CCT is for "Carrier Control Timeout".
@@unityxg Thanks
I read somewhere method B for noise cancellation is better
The Noise cancelling modes on this radio, I am not familiar with but if you have any more info im willing to learn!
