Aside from the wonderfully funny satirical humor, Kung fu Phillip absolutely blew me away. It is hard to critique this marvelous demonstration because I have never seen anyone do that with a whip! Who knew that skill was even possible. I would love very much to watch his students and instructors perform. I love the dynamics and imminent danger inherent in a whip, and the sound of the cracking which I am sure is used with a practiced rhythm. And, I have no idea what I am talking about. I wish I was in Las Vegas. This is a martial artist that would be a pleasure to watch, and, if accepted, be one of his devoted students.
I'm just glad that after all the centuries of conflict, the Bi's and Teens have been able to look past their differences, and join forces against old straight people.
Finally a whip video that, with some irony, shows that a long bullwhip is basically useless as a weapon. :D The whips used here are also what the whip community would call "wet noodles" - the transition area is basically limp. It means they work poorly. I would never carry a long whip around as a self defence - how do you conceal it? With shorter whips (snakewhips, around 3 ft), it works though. You need to practise a lot, because they are lightning fast. The good ones also have some bolts in the top knop, so they can be used as a baton (striking with the top knob). They are also so small that they can be coiled up in a pocket. But a long whip, a la Indiana Jones? That is just a joke.
