I would not stress out about the Letters of Recommendation, Bry. They are just an extra step some people take, but they are not a requirement. If you can get a couple then that is great- you definitely don't need to get them for every sorority. Also, being in Ohio does not make much of a difference because the letters can be from anyone who has been in a sorority, regardless of what school they went to. I hope this helps you- best of luck!

Hahah some girls really do carry a lot of things! You can carry around a tote you just can't bring them in the houses so you leave them outside. When you are waiting around for things to happen it can be SUPER hot out so it's important to have water and a handheld fan to keep yourself cool. Have so much fun!!
There are so many restaurants on and around campus! On campus, you can use dining dollars at places like Chick-Fil-A, Wendy's, Starbucks, Subway, and many more fast food chains. The Strip is in walking distance to campus and there are so many other options there such as Chipotle, Buffalo Phils (you can use dining dollars here too), Bento (sushi), and a Mexican restaurant. If you go a little bit further off campus to downtown there are local restaurants- Mugshots, Five, Depalmas, Mellow Mushroom, and Glory Bound.

You can find more information about your questions here: uapanhellenic.com/faq.html In reference to your question about being able to rush again this website says "A woman is only eligible to participate in Primary Recruitment if she has not been an initiated member of any National Panhellenic Conference sorority. If a woman receives a bid from a sorority at the University of Alabama, she must wait until the beginning of the next Primary Recruitment at the University of Alabama before she is eligible to participate in recruitment again." Therefore, if you do not get into any during the fall you are able to rush again. There is also another option to rush in the Spring- at Alabama they have informal recruitment during the Spring.

Hey Danielle! I rushed as a Junior as well so I can only tell you from my experience that your chances of getting in are the same as anyone else. I would definitely tell you to just be yourself and find girls who have similar interests as you. Don't change who you are to be accepted by someone, but rather seek to be accepted by a group who is into things that you are too. If you don't get into one or shares the same values/interests that you have, it is not a big deal because there are SO many clubs and activities to get involved with at the university. Personally, I got into one but did not stick with it because I found myself enjoying my time with other activities like Habitat For Humanity and my church group.
I did not experience any hazing and I know that none of my friends got hazed either. Fraternities are a bit different, but for sororities, we were treated with respect.
don't bother trying to join a sorority if you are less than physically attractive, or overweight, or don't wear cut-off denim shorts, or don't have long hair, or are not white, or not 'popular', because sororities are just elitist organisations that like to keep the 'wrong people out'. Lol! I have watched several of these sorority clips, and I have not seen one overweight person. Everyone looks the same. I challenge someone from a sorority to tell me why they do not accept girls who are not physically attractive.
Hey Scout, I'm sorry you feel this way about Greek Life. From my experience at Alabama there have been so many girls who are overweight, girls with short hair, girls who are not popular, etc in our sororities. You might not see them posting videos because they are not into posting on RUclips, but our sororities definitely have a variety of body types, interests, cultures, and so much more!
