  • Join the Institute for Carbon Removal and Policy for the next event in its webinar series, “Scrubbing the Skies: The Role of Carbon Dioxide Removal in Combating Climate Change.” The series focuses on scientific, technological, legal, political, and justice-focused issues associated with carbon dioxide removal, and is hosted by Wil Burns, Co-Director of the Institute for Carbon Removal and Policy.
This event featured a representative from carbon transformation industry leader, LanzaTech, on transitioning to a sustainable, circular carbon economy by converting waste into essential chemicals, fuels, and products.
While it is contemplated that the lion’s share of the carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere with carbon removal approaches will ultimately be slated for terrestrial or marine storage, it is hoped that a substantial portion can also be utilized in a wide range of products, providing an additional value stream for the industry and reducing risks associated with storage.
This webinar focused on the efforts of LanzaTech, a company based in Illinois, to replace fossil fuels with waste carbon supply chains, utilizing technological approaches that can effectuate recycling of greenhouse gas emissions into products. Replacing unsustainable production with waste-based technologies will be essential to a de-fossilized and circular economy, as well as to provide critical learning for the carbon removal industry as it contemplates potential uses of carbon. Lanzatech’s approaches may prove to be the vanguard of this future.
    Panelists:
Tom Dower, VP of Public Policy, Lanzatech
    Moderator:
Wil Burns, Co-Director of the Institute for Carbon Removal Law and Policy
