All upcoming Android Versions will only have a number. Android 10, 11, 12, 13 etc. etc. I will miss the names they made it easy to keep them apart. People have to know that rebranding is NOT only changing the logo, it's not about changing the most out of the logo. They just want to have a different image in general. That's explained through the font choice, with the color pallete they chose, the elements taken from the original logo (like the circles, curves, etc) to make an uniform background for presentations, vip cards, event posters, etc. This means giving the brand a completely new feeling. You may not see it in the little android's face. But maybe going to an android event, you're going to see the colors displayed around the place, the presentation itself, etc. We should respect this rebrand more.
The new version will have a new system where Google can update core system functions as though they were apps. We still don't know exactly how it's going to work, but the idea is to bypass oems completely and give all phones regular updates just like Pixels do today.
OK... I dig the new design. Design paradigms change so keeping it up to date is nice, especially since it's just minor tweaks. I even like calling 'Q' android 10, that's a nice anniversary number. But ditching dessert names after that???? My heart is officially broken

I can’t sync up my Apple Watch to my android phone, can’t airdrop, can’t copy from my Mac and paste on my android or vice versa, can’t iMessage from all my devices or FaceTime since the majority of my friends and family have iPhones, I can’t get the most out of my Apple TV when AirPlaying, the list continues. Apple provides one of the greatest ecosystem and simply buying a new android flagship phone prevents me from a lot of necessary features I use on my devices.
The problem with Android is that it can be on nearly every single phone in the world, making it less secure due to its open source capabilities which is major factor for me based on my privacy concerns. Apps don’t get moderated, developers can not optimise their apps for every device since there are SO MANY using Android and have to rely on 10million gigs of ram and overpowered unnecessary Mobile CPUs from many third parties INSTEAD of having optimisation (which it can never have) and having Android is also one big sight of an ironic viewpoint by many that ‘Since it is Open Source, the possibilities are endless and you could create your own ecosystem’, yet this view has not proven worthy since Apple’s ecosystem is so well-maintained by their own creators and not the consumers, and very few people in the world, if asked on the spot, can even provide a name of a device which is known outside of the Apple ecosystem. If you ask the majority of people if they know what a Samsung Gear is, and then ask them what an Apple Watch is, your results will vary more towards the Apple Watch since the branding, marketing and popularity of the product as well as the ecosystem-friendly features are more distributed to consumers.

Here’s something that I like: I’m an iPhone user, and I noticed that Android copied some gestures and design from iOS, this is actually good bc if I want to switch from my iPhone to a Pixel or something like that, I wouldn’t miss iOS!

Apple waits for the Android guys to release a nice gesture interface then makes a "better" one (better is debatable)
Android in the other hand tried to copy the iPhone X gestures which turned out to be the pill gesture and let me tell you: it's pretty bad in fluidity when compared to iOS.
Hopefully gestures this time are better tho
(I own a Mi A2, OP7 and XR, I experienced best and worst of both worlds, No bias here just in case I will be called an "apple fan")

That was the G1 - the first Android phone. If you like the slide out keyboard style, I'd look into the phones Blackberry do.

@@RagingUtai sadly the sweets names will only be for internal use now, and for the public we'll have number versions. But in regards to the actual OS, things might just be more consistent and modern (as well as more accessible) all around. It'll be interesting to see how Quick makes use of the updated brand.

Gotta say, that’s some amazing animation.
What they took to the next level on Android 10 (which was released in 2019) is the gesture navigation. They decided to copy Apple and added a gesture to go back.
