the benefits of online school: being able to watch Jesse's videos as soon as they come out. Also: PLEASE READ ALICE IN WONDERLAND! It's one of my personal favorite books and holds a very special place in my heart because it was the first chapter book I ever read.
Skychild_Kat Warriors is a great series! I think the first 200+ (?) page chapter book I read was Charlie and the Chocolate factory for school! I loved it :)
Be prepared for Kingdom of Ash to go into the “books that made me cry” list. Honestly, the book is the longest I’ve ever read (980 pages), but IT’S JUST SO GOOD THAT YOU NEVER WANT TO PUT IT DOWN.
I read Kingdom of Ash in German, because it's my native language, and there it's about 1100 pages. So either it's 100 pages more torture and pain over several unfortunate events, or I was blessed. Hard to decide. Howsoever, have a good day now after this useless information
You dont know how much you made my day. Im up to my eyes in school work and everybodys stressed (in spain the havent cancelled online anything) so getting this notification made me happy. I really needed that. Thank you so so so much.
ahhhh!! love these kind of videos!!! you're honestly an amazing person, Jesse and actually deserve the world!! you sparked my love for reading and I am forever thankful for you doing so!!
wow, wow. totally not crying that my literal idol noticed my comment lol!! jesse you're just so funny, kind, sweet, inspiring, smart, adorable, a smol bean, and actually the greatest human alive. you have helped me through the darkest times in my life and forever am thankful. thank you for just being you and keep doing what you're doing because it's helping a lot more people then you think!
I put off kingdom of ash as well. With the quarantine and my work shutting down, I’ve been rereading the whole series just for funsies. There are so many little details I missed, and it’s fun to fall in love with the characters all over again :)
I loved reading when I was younger and then kind of fell of the wagon in middle and early high school, then I found booktube and have started to get back into it. I’m so glad I did bc I didn’t even realize how much I missed it.
Let me just say, I LOVE the yellow and black aesthetic! I hope you are doing well and staying safe! Thanks for keeping us entertaining with wholesome bookish goodness.
The sprayed edges of the book killed me..!!! Oml its raining blue now Jesse u gotta try the matching clothes and book colour thing with this book...!!!!
When I see Jesse uploads I click fast! I always enjoy your videos! Keep it up, and your editing is great, and you are inspiring me to maybe start a RUclips channel!
THANK YOU SO MUCH JESSE!!! I recently watched a video of yours on popular books you won't read. You mentioned the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and how the student-teacher romance turned you off. Personally, I'm also not a big fan of this, but I was intrigued to know why so many people love the books. During a weak moment of boredom I decided to give it a try. Absolutely LOVED AND DEVOURED the VA series and the spin-off series Bloodlines in the span of two weeks! What an amazing ride!!! Don't worry, I'm not telling you this to convince you to read it. I'm just really thankful for this unexpected turn of events.
What I did before going back into SJM world to catch up with the series is read the Fandom wiki synopsis page for all the previous books. They have super detailed plot synopses for each book!
I feel you when you said you haven’t finished KOA. I literally started it and got over halfway through it before I stopped. Then I waited half a year and like forgot everything that happened and the characters 😅. I ended up rereading the whole series so I totally understand where you’re coming from. Good luck!
You're the only booktuber so far whom I could listen to and watch for 15 to 20 mins without getting bored so this video length is fine don't worry you're great you're awesome
I just finished kingdom of ash and I the feelings hit me out of no where. You won't be disappointed. I do think you should recap on everything that's happened, including tower of dawn (very important) before reading it because a lot of stuff that happened before comes up and all the characters are acknowledged (the main ones) I gave it 5 rattling stars (cringe)
Bless those times! Please never stop talking, I could watch your videos all day. Seriously, I enjoy your videos soo much currently, you also made me buy 'Geekerella' and now I'm getting way too excited.😂🥰
You should totally read Kingdom of Ash, you can do it Jesse! For me, that book kinda did it. I was on the fence as to if I liked the series or not, but the last one did deliver although it dragged on some parts.
i love the mug from the throne from glass :D & i have the exact same problem with the last part of the series lmao :))))))) love when u talk with so passion
Jesse, your deacon is a gecko and mine is definitely a fox. A book I read, called Pettiken is super good. It’s about this girl who always loved her great aunt and kinda thought she was strange. Well, the aunt died and the girl finds a gnome in her kitchen and she must get the gnome home through these dimensions. Her guides through the dimensions are llamas so, y’all can get excited over that.
Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite classics of all-time. I love the original story, Disney's animated adaptation, and Tim Burton's live-action remake. I recommend reading the original story by Lewis Carroll for sure, and it's a short story so you can get through it pretty quickly.
I love your videos. I hope you'll like Havenfall. I liked it, but it took me about half the book to really get into it. Havenfall, the different worlds and people are intriguing from the start though. Towards the end, something really cool (and heart-clutching) was revealed about magic, and there were some surprising twists (and some I had kinda guessed). Hopefully we'll get to see more of the worlds in the next book. Have you read the Everless duology by the same author? I've only just started reading City of Brass. So far, I'm missing a sense of plot, but it's very (!) early days. Happy reading!
I tried getting Illumicrate and for some reason they wouldnt send it to me and I was very sad. 😭 I may try again but I really wanted the Cassandra Clare one
7:12 Jesse, you just fulfilled my dreams. A lot of times when I watch your vids I think about owl city and a lot of times when I listen to owl city I thing about watching your vids. Probably because they both make me happy 💙
This has been happening too often I'm getting scared. Why is it that everytime I open youtube Jesse uploads? (I have notifications on but I'm on my laptop)
I've read The City of Brass this month, and let me tel you It's wonderful! I'm an Arabian girl and the familiarity of somethings in the book, makes me feel I'm HOME, but like a better home. Personaly I recommend reading this book without knowing what it's about, but here are some hints for you: Magical creatures, fire, healing abilities, loyalty vs beliefs, betrayal..
I read Havenfall pretty recently. It was an average book for me. It sometimes felt a little info dumpy because you get a lot of information in such a short period of time (bc the book is so short). I also wished we saw more of the Realms and characters. I liked the plot twists (but I could see them coming sometimes). The story overall was interesting and kept me reading, but I hope we get to see more of the other Realms in the sequel. This was a 3 star book for me.
Three months late but I must spread my message, you should definitely read City of Brass. It is a fantasy trilogy that is in the world of djinn. It has intricate politics, diversity, and the type of story that makes you question who the “good” characters are since a lot of them are morally grey. I will say a lot of people found the first book to drag a bit in the beginning but it definitely redeems itself by the end. To me, it’s like a less complex, middle eastern Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire (which I know you don’t intend to read, I only say that in the sense of there being intense politics, a fantastical world, a magic system, cruel characters, people descending into madness, secret lineages). I think you’d really enjoy it! (Fyi, in City of Brass, Dara is the epitome of drama)
City of Brass is the best fantasy book I have ever read. I'm shocked its considered a YA - cuz I would classify it as an Adult Fantasy. But could be crossed over a bit I suppose. My book store puts it in the adult fantasy section. I hope you'll read it!
This video is Bookish heaven! I loved it as always when you post a video. ❤️❤️❤️Love you! And your videos. Stay safe and healthy! 📚📚❤️I recommend city of brass and it is SOOO good. I also can't explain what's it about because it is very complicated. 😂😂😂
Wise Man once said "Before we open this Sucka, we must appreciate this Sucka" 🙏

Your tears of sadness turn into tears of joy though, I swear!?
Remember when Jesse used to say "I'll. See. You. Soon. With. A. New. Vid-e-o. Bye chu *woosh*". Now he says, "Bye ohhhh!"
Olivia Johnson is it bad that I read that in his voice? No? ok.
Right I miss the old outro
What it means to be a reader
You look at your library and realize you've only read half of it.
Ruben Biriș half? you’ve read that much? 👀
I read every book of my bookshelf
I guess you could say your house is pretty... muggy
omg 💀
You dont know how much you made my day. Im up to my eyes in school work and everybodys stressed (in spain the havent cancelled online anything) so getting this notification made me happy. I really needed that. Thank you so so so much.

Dude the lights make your eyes look magical it's so freaking cool, it's like some blueish silver molten metal
Okay but if Jesse ever becomes a candle vlogger, I’m here for it-
I just got Illumicrate because of Jesse's videos, and I am SO excited. For the box, and for this video!
Jesse being so excited about the book being blue is so precious
Me: COVID is so boring and I’m getting sad because of social isolation.
Jessie: OPTIMISM INTENSIFIES
me: I feel better.😊
When he did the sniff test , I DIED😂😂😂😂

That City of Brass art print is gorgeous and those book pages are STUNNING! I think I'm in love 😍
I put off kingdom of ash as well. With the quarantine and my work shutting down, I’ve been rereading the whole series just for funsies. There are so many little details I missed, and it’s fun to fall in love with the characters all over again :)
