As a scale modeller with a certain focus on the Second World War i am always eager to learn more in order to make my vehicle models and figures more realistic. During my never ending research i came across the explanatory videos of ParaLight WorX one day, which help me a lot to this day to get the uniforms and the equipment of my figures right. Further down the line i discovered the short films by ParaLight Worx, their series "Dusty Faces" has a lot of fans in particular, of course i am one of them.
Therefore it should surprise no one that i placed an order immediately when the main character of this series Otto Degen was announced as a resin figure in 1/35 scale by Plastic Invasion.
The resin figure has the highest possible standard, both the production quality and the level of detail are really impresive. What a joy to see that! Even the smallest details, like buckles and buttons, are very clearly defined and in scale. The creases on the uniform and the pose of the figure are also very natural looking.
I could not resist and assembled the figure for you already. Cutting and cleaning up the parts was a simple affair and everything had a perfect fit, as it should be! Plastic Invasion did a really good job here.
The price tag of 18,90€ for the standard edition and 21,90€ for the PLW special edition are really quite something though, but as a fan of the series i can justify it for myself on an ideational level.

That is a super high quality figure indeed. I am not familiar with the series it is from but I recall you talking about that before. I look forward to seeing what you do with this!
Watch it. Its brilliant
Cheers mate. You can find the 10 episodes supercut in the video description, there are even subtitles in various languages, including English obviously :)
Beautiful looking figure. I’ve enjoyed their films a lot too. Very cool and unexpected crossover.
Cheers man, i hope they bring a few more film characters in figure form :)
Gerne doch :)
That is a really well sculpted figure and the casting/details look pretty good as well. The only flaw I see is quite a bit of flash left from the casting but that's an easy fix. It's also refreshing to see a "non pointing" German soldier for a change. Good review man!
Cheers mate! When it comes to details it is close to perfect, very natural and a pose that is a bit different from what we usually see. Pointing Germans are the norm haha :)
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling 👈yep.
It's a very nice figure which's replicated moderately. We may have often watched many over-represented figures, but it looks naturally to me.
I'm very looking forward to your art painting. 😍😍😍
That is very true indeed! I think in the figure genre it is a common practice to overdo things. It starts with the sculpt, where the face feature or the crease in the uniform are rather extreme, this continues in various painting styles. I prefer a more natural/moderate appearance.
A nice figure very finely detailed. Too bad the box is really ugly, it doesn't make you want to buy this piece. Luckily you're doing an unboxing.😀
Agreed, the low res picture of the figure on the box is really sad, even back in the day Mr. Verlinden had some very nice box art.
Hallo Michael.
Certainly an impressive figure and worth investing in, for a modeller with your skill set.. :) Great review.... I should point out that at 16:07, it appears that the picture shown shows Otto Degen in the scene from the 'Dusty Faces', but I guess seeing the episode properly will give you even more context, for the diorama / vignette / vignorama, rather than just that small photo.
Now. from one thing to another, do you know of any 1/35 resin, or plastic figures that show German Wehrmacht medics standing up or walking? I know of the ICM 1/35 set with German medics treating a wounded German soldier on the ground, but I have already used that set for something else and it won't go with the diorama I have planned.. so I thought, who better to ask, than you?? :)
Further more, I'm going to the Mildenhall model show this Saturday and will take a few photos of tables, models and maybe people again, I'm not sure how big this show is compared to Peterborough, but it should hopefully be good. :)
Cheers Rob! I think so too, but i want to see that episode in order to know what it is exactly about, so i can capture the essence of the scene on a small base one day :)
Regarding the medics, this is a tough question. This subject is not represented to the extend it should be. Dragon made a medic set with two walking guys (Set 6074), there are also two more Dragon figure sets, which include some kind of medics or at least wounded people (Sets 6343 and 6648).
Have fun at the show, i am sure it will be awesome :) I will be at a show next weekend again, yeah!
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling Sadly I never made it to the show as I had no one to give me a lift.. :( I am now aiming for the Milton Keynes Show in a weeks time, and hopefully I will make it there.. :) Thanks for the info about the medic figures, I will see if I can find those Dragon sets.. :)
Hallo Michael,
Carsten
Gerne doch Carsten :) Beim Preis muss man schon schlucken. Kleinserienherstellung ist einfach immer kostenintensiv, der Takom Tiger rollt millionenfach vom Fließband in China. Dafür ist er wahrscheinlich auch zu teuer :)
Ein Herzliches Meddel Michi🎉
Danke das wünsche ich dir auch!
Servus Michi.
Servus😂
Sehr schöne Miniatur. Hast es aufn Punkt beschrieben.
Bin gespannt wenn die Vignette dazu kommt 😉👍
Schöne Vorstellung vielen Dank für deine Bemühungen
Mfg Bomber 🤘😜
Went to order this figure but the shipping costs are higher than the product! 😬
Dang! For me it is just coming out of a neighbouring country, depending on other destinations in the world it may be very expensive to ship it indeed.
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModellingyeh Im in the UK and they are charging €26.26 for shipping!
Just wow!
I went to order this figure but they want €30 to ship to Canada. Totally ridiculous. I wonder if they are cynically trying to make money by artificially inflating the shipping fee?
Paralight worx the studio that simultanenously made me curious about renacting and probally has got me put on goverment lists as a result purchasing certain stylish fashionable garments🤣
There is a lot to learn out there and we all don´t mind a bit of inspiration :)
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling Having a 1/1 scale replica of what your supposed to be painting is deffinately useful.. or it is if you have actually accurate reproductions at least. Or in cases where it's affordable the real deal piece of gear or clothing.. unfortunately however i dont have room for a hetzer... yet. Maybe just a univeral carrier to start with.
👍😃
Danke dir :)
Hallo Michael.
"Anbauteile" an einer Figur/Menschen ! 😂
Sehr interessante Beschreibung. 👍
