Elizabeth and Sir Hairless are my favorite music analysis peeps. I’d love to see them collaborate on something. They bring complimentary aspects and massive muscle knowledge and enthusiasm.
Recently Daniel, of Opera Singer Reacts, reacted to one of Elizabeth’s operatic pieces. I don’t know anything about opera, but she is so expressive. It was just her and the orchestra behind her. But she was definitely emoting. It’s worth it just to watch the joy on his face as he listens.

The guys have already filmed their Halloween video for this year. It looks like it will be epic! But while we’re waiting, they will have Be Prepared coming out next week.
Lauren was in Nashville, VoicePlay heard her on TikTok and contacted her. Layne flew up to Nashville with green screen and all the stuff he needed. He turned around and flew back to Orlando just hours before Hurricane Ian ran through the state. When they were working on the set, Cesar (who's so naturally animated) had to keep his head still. They really wanted the flitting ghosts toward the end so they contacted Elizabeth of Charismatic Voice fame to provide that audio sound. We are coming up to Halloween and Geoff and VoicePlay have an incredible library of videos (Geoff even narrates some of his Poe tales.).
VoicePlay IS Halloween. And add in Geoff's Halloween offerings and a watch party ensues. I appreciate that this is a quality reactor who can point out so many unnoticed bits.
Poor you! This one is brain melting to analyze 😊 Voiceplay is definitely known to be Reactor busters. 😅😅 Prepare yourself for October. They love Halloween and the videos are phenomenal 😂😂
In the Behind the Scenes, I watched Layne's makeup being applied. Then we watched him walking around, directing the action, and also in costume. It doesn't matter how often I watch this, I still cannot see him under the makeup. It's that good. Hurricane Ian was bearing down on Florida, Layne flew to Nashville Tennessee where Lauren lives and recorded her video portion on green screen. He made it back to Orlando just before the storm hit. Geoff was asked how they felt about Lauren recording this with them, and then a couple of weeks later with the Bass Gang. He just shrugged and said "Capitalism".
I’m an avid VP fan so you catch me whenever you focus upon them. As always, your detailed analysis increases my understanding, appreciation, and admiration. Thank you.
Thank you!! There are so many things to love about this one! Most people don’t notice Eli’s little “hello! 👋🏻” at around 4:07 after Lauren sings I’m inside your room now. I think my favorite part is Eli’s fun guitar picking moment at around 4:34. And Cesar playing Madam Leota with that full beard is a whole mood.
Both VoicePlay and Geoff traditionally film special videos specifically for the Halloween season, so if Halloween is something that interests you, you've got plenty of videos to catch up on, and some coming out soon to anticipate! The same year that VoicePlay released this video, another a cappella group, The Bass Gang (composed of 4 bass singers, naturally!) released a version of this song, with Lauren Paley as their featured artist as well. While it isn't really scary, it doesn't go for the laughs quite the way VP's version does, and it's definitely worth a look! One of the Bass Gang is Peter Barber, a fellow reactor here on RUclips, and a professional opera singer (bass, of course!). That laugh from Geoff at the very end over the Patron list can also be heard in VoicePlay's Halloween offering from several years ago, Grim Grinning Ghosts, which featured the singing busts which are also a staple from Disney's Haunted Mansion ride. That one is worth a look just for the makeup and costuming, and there is a live version the guys did just after they finished a concert - no special makeup or costumes, but it makes it easy to compare the studio version to their live version.
The minute I see one of your analysis of a performance I jump on board! Great seeing you review VoicePlay again, they never fail to entertain. Hopefully you’ll get to last year’s Halloween contribution by Geoff, the phenomenal “Jack’s Lament” from the Nightmare Before Christmas
Thank you. I love VoicePlay and I love your analyses. I am not a professional musician and appreciate that you show us how much thought, technique and work is in their songs. Keep up your great work. ❤
Ooohhhhh! Now you need to watch Jack’s Lament by Geoff Castellucci (another song from Nightmare Before Christmas). I consider it his Halloween tour de force. I’m sure you will find a lot to talk about there :) I’m glad you enjoy this one!
I wasn't fortunate enough to take music in school, my father wanted me to concentrate on business. Which, I must admit sustained me for years. However, I've always loved music. Trying to listen to analyses like this, from most people, is so foreign to me because of my lack of learning. However, you make it most enjoyable. And, although I don't understand the terminology, you make it easier to understand. So, thank you, for your instructional, humorous, and wonderful reactions to Voiceplay in particular (they're my favorite). 🥰🥰
Voiceplay - the kings of Halloween 😉. I know Layne had issues getting this video together due to covid or a weather event - maybe some of the older fans can fill us in again!? Thank you for the early Halloween treat - and thank you to the sponsor! 🌹🕊
I love VP's Halloween music. This one came out right after the Hall of the Mountain King as the proper Halloween offering. Lauren's voice is so eerie in this. I just love it. It's kind of shivery and scary but fun.
This one is top notch! It’s brilliant, it’s haunting, it’s complicated, but oh, so goooood! I can only imagine how much fun and difficult it was to analyze and react to with so much going on! I think of going through the Haunted Mansion in DisneyWorld. I remember a figure of the woman in a wedding dress. That’s the only one that stands out in my memory. Voice Play outdid themselves, again! I think I’ve only forgot to add this to my Halloween Spotify playlist last year, but it’s definitely going on it this year. When we do give out candy, we sit on our front porch with Halloween music on my speaker. Loved your reaction to this one!!!
Thank you so much for this, especially with Halloween approaching! I love this version of this song! I do hope you get the opportunity to check out The Bass Gang's version of this same song, also featuring Lauren Paley, that came out around the same time as this version from VoicePlay.
This is a production that I don’t necessarily listen to, but watched it often during the “holiday🎃” season. I watched the behind-the-scenes and I still have a hard time seeing Layne being all the makeup. One that they have done both live (recorded backstage while they were on tour) and as a video production is Grim Grinning Ghosts. Geoff gets to do his laugh several times in the video and he definitely pulls off that Vincent Price evil laugh. 😱👻
I'm so thankful for a reactor (analyst, actually) such as you. So many of the reactors on RUclips do nothing more than mug for the camera, and many, not knowing anything about music, having nothing useful to say. And then, on this one, you mention an English literature essay. I'm an amateur pianist and was an English major, too. So now I have become an even bigger fan! I've watched all of your reactions to Dimash and some of your other ones. Keep up the excellent work! (By the way, you are a dead ringer for one of my best friends from university. Of course, he would be 35 to 40 years older than you, and he lives here in the USA, but nonetheless...)
I love this VP video. I enjoyed it enough that I recorded Cesar's "Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat..." bit and made it my ringtone on my phone for ages!
👀 15:05 You caught me off guard here - ❤ I love, love, love your analyses! You've actually introduced me to new music, enriched my listening experience overall. Thank you so very much!
Another great analysis! I like how you dissect their arrangement vs their voices. There are great reactors out there who go over their voices (which I love) but I also like to know what they’ve done to achieve their effects. Thank you.
Thank you for this super fun reaction and jaw-dropping analysis, Sir!👻You wowed me when you reproduced with your beautiful voice that ghosty ‘Ooooo’ part that you said is almost ‘Arabian sounding’😲 and I think you deserved a hug by the end of this reaction - you’re so precious❣

This is a VoicePlay tribute to the Haunted Mansion attraction at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The descriptions of the characters (which you named) are as follows: Geoff is the Caretaker - the only living human in the Mansion. He stands outside the cemetery gates trembling, accompanied by his near-skeletal dog. Layne is the legendary Hatbox Ghost, an original animatronic character from the opening of the Disneyland Mansion in 1969. Unfortunately, the effect of the Ghost's head disappearing from his shoulders into the hatbox he holds did not work well in the lighting surrounding him, so he was quickly removed. However, he became a legend and a fan favorite so, in 2015, a new version was installed in Disneyland, and he was added to the Orlando Mansion in November 2023. Cesar is portraying Madam Leota, who leads a seance to call forth the Mansion's spirits. She is a disembodied head floating above the seance table in her crystal ball. Lauren Paley is portraying Constance Hatchaway, the latest incarnation of the Attic Bride. Her line of "Hurry Back" is from the tiny figure called Little Leota who sees you out of the Mansion. Layne flew to Nashville with the equipment he needed to film her part and returned just before Hurricane Ian hit Florida. Eli is portraying Ambassador Alexander Nitrokoff, "an anarchist who came to us with a bang one night" according to a deleted piece of the Ghost Host's dialogue in the Stretching Room. In his portrait, it is revealed he is not wearing any pants and is standing on a keg of dynamite with the fuse dangerously close to a lit candle. Elizabeth Zharoff (aka The Charismatic Voice) is the voice of the wailing spirits. The ghost effects are from a company called AtmosFX and are part of their Phantasms collection.
Hi there!! I love your reaction! I would love to see your reaction to "Hi Ren" by Ren. Ren is like no other artist that you have seen. He is a modern-day Bard and the one-take king! He also plays a classical guitar! Hi Ren has a powerful message that I know a lot of people can connect to. He's an independent artist in the UK. I gave a sub with the hopes you will give Ren a try. He also has a HUGE fan base who loves watching reaction videos to his music!
Enjoyed your breakdown as usual. Please Check out Mama EXO Debut MV which has spooky voice intro, Gregorian chant, but explains the whole story line of a new wave of KPOP in 2012. EXO is often called the vocal kings of KPOP.
Perhaps with Halloween just around the corner the timing couldn’t be better for reacting to this song. It was dark (minor key) and quite eerie but always in tune with an interesting lead line and supporting harmonies and rhythm. Visually, of course, it is quite stunning. All in all, a fun piece consistently delivered between the set, costumes and music. Thanks, as always, for your breakdown of parts and musical interpretation.
Wait, I thought this was based on The Haunted Mansion ride? Well, I guess they're connected. The ride is fun and creepy. The Eddie Murphy film is...well, just okay. I'll have to check out the new version! Great reaction! You looked so perplexed at times! LOL!💙
You’re right. Layne and Tony had built this set for Pattycake based on the ride. And Eli’s character is from the stretching room. (Not sure if he is even in the movie)
@@Wildecat10 So many little Easter eggs in this one. It took me a long time to notice that the grim grinning ghost busts are on the bookshelf behind Geoff. And this is the set for one of my favorite PattyCake performances: Villains at the Haunted Mansion. I had been to the old Haunted Mansion in my long ago childhood and the stretching room was one of my favorite parts just because it was so clever. But I didn’t really put it together until this came out that Alexander NITROkoff, standing on a keg of dynamite, had such an explosive 🧨 personality😂.
I’m in Canada and we have a spooky celebration every Halloween where young children wander through neighborhoods collecting “treats”. We decorate and we choose to pipe spooky music through speakers for the young little goblins. I already have Lauren’s version in my playlist but I think this might merit adding this version! Very creepy and amazing juxtaposition of high soprano and deep bass! Loads of fun! Cheers from Canada!
Spooky season is coming! Got another blimey from you so I think you enjoyed it quite a bit 😄!! As always a great reaction and analysis video from you!! So many fun little details in this. As you mentioned in Seven Nation Army's video, you don't know what directions they will go, and I think that's what I love about them. You always can get surprised from their arrangement and make them so much more interesting (at least to me). Hope you will be able to see more of their seasonal creations!!
Love your reaction to this! What was your favorite part! Mine is Eli playing air guitar - " Ding ding d d d ding ding" 😂 Please react to my favorite of VP Halloween video - also from a Disney movie - The Princess & the Frog. The song is "aFriends on The Other Side". J None ( who has a solo album out now!!) really brings it as the main character of the song! I think it was his 1st time back performing with VP as a featured vocalist since he joined the Navy. I was thrilled! He's my favorite & just can't wait for him to rejoin the group after his 5 years are up. Thank you for your awesome insights & explanations!!
I believe that Geoff took part in a version of the Haunted Mansion, hence the talking ghostly heads video they did. Lauren recorded herself at home (she lives across the country). and was edited in by VP.
This is not the movie, The Haunted Mansion. It reflects the Rides in the Parks. As you go through the house, you first enter the "Chamber with no doors or windows", A portrait room. Of the four paintings is Nitrokov, and his barrel of dynamite, as well as in his boxer shorts! Madam Leota, in her crystal ball, calls in the spirits to come party. As we pass through the Attic, we find the Bride. There have been about 3 brides on the ride. Lauren is in what was likely the first incarnation. The latest is Constance Hatchaway, and her hatchet. You can see her in the Portraits too. The Harbor Ghost appeared in the Original ride only for a few weeks, then disappeared so completely, no one was sure he had ever existed in the first place! Finally, A bad quality home movie showed up proving he had been there. Problem was, his trick didn't work and he was pulled. Enough people begged for his return that his trick was finally fixed, and he was added back. He stands, tipping his head into his box, just after the Bride. Finally, ( for us) the Caretaker, and his skinny hound, shiver and shake at the gate of the cemetery, totally agog at the sight of so many ghosts going passed.
Totally happy you got to this one dude. Great reaction. You should totally check out if I Were a Rich Man / girl with Ashley Diane and I would be totally interested to see your Take On The Little Mermaid medley
I do think that the fact that the Haunted Mansion movie were coming played a part in them deciding on this video. But they also seem to really like the Haunted Mansion 😊. If you're interested, there's also a VoicePlay short where they harmonize with Lauren Paley's original staircase song. They're releasing "Be Prepared" from The Lion King today, I hope I'll get to see you analyze that one too, it's great!! Thank you for your reaction and analysis, I enjoyed it as always!
Please react to "The Love of Tired Swans" at the Kremlin. Also, please react to " The Pearl Fisher." Dimash and Placido Domingo sang together. You will love both of these performances for sure!
Since you have shown a Halloween video, I'd like to mention "Making Christmas" cover by ptx. It's from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas movie. A back and forth between both holidays. Mitch has a "wicked" laugh. Just a thought for October. As always great job with the ghoulish video. 👻
It pains me how many reactors (and others) aren't familiar with Disney's 55-year-old Haunted Mansion classic attraction. It WAS renovated recently, but mostly exterior enhancement. It gets a holiday season re-decoration every year with "The Nightmare Before Christmas" characters added. You can see ride-throughs of Haunted Mansion (and other rides) on several RUclips channels!

Great reaction! you should consider The Bass Gang's version of this song also with Lauren.. a different take on the song - but also really good!
You absolutely have to check out Geoff’s cover of “ Jacks Lament”!!
This is one of my favorites of theirs. Great reaction and analysis.
@@janetdw Hahaha, good one!🤣 And Eli is such a blast!
@@DravenGal I see what you did 😂
@RegularNormalMurmerHurr Me too! VoicePlay and Geoff just MAKE the Spooky Season! I can't wait, as much as I wish this year would slow down.💙
I’m in Canada and we have a spooky celebration every Halloween where young children wander through neighborhoods collecting “treats”.
Thank you 🥰 As always I love how your face shows how the music affects you😃 And superb analysis 😃 As always I have to watch i again straight away 🥰
Love your reaction to this! What was your favorite part! Mine is Eli playing air guitar - " Ding ding d d d ding ding" 😂
Please react to my favorite of VP Halloween video - also from a Disney movie - The Princess & the Frog.
Good news! He has already done a reaction to it! Enjoy!

A thousand times this! Friends on the Other Side is one of my favorite Voice Play offerings!
i don't know this "Haunted Mansion" movie(s), but i've been on the ride quite a bit, and that "Hurry back!" is at the end of the ride. Creepy!
I believe that Geoff took part in a version of the Haunted Mansion, hence the talking ghostly heads video they did. Lauren recorded herself at home (she lives across the country). and was edited in by VP.
You should 100% watch the version Lauren did with Bass Gang the same year
I always enjoy your videos, but this one was even more fun than usual! Excellent breakdown! ❤
Really looking forward to seeing how you react to Geoff's versions of Jack's Lament and Monster Mash
Be Prepared is now live 😊
Zhou Shen, chinese singer, sing also heavenly this song without the disney thing
LOL Loved your reaction
Have a lovely week
would it help if you understood the chord progression in the intro/outro is taken directly from the Haunted Mansion theme song?
That would explain the changes
GREAT analysis! I love Damrau's "Queen."
❤️❤️
Please review Hai Yorokunde cover by 8Law
🙈🤖👹 . What are you dressing up as for Halloween Sir Hairless ?
A miserable bald man who'd rather keep the sweets for himself
@@SirHairless I like a little honesty .... lol lol lol lol 🧑🦲
@@SirHairless❤lololol❤
Please react to "The Love of Tired Swans" at the Kremlin. Also, please react to " The Pearl Fisher." Dimash and Placido Domingo sang together.
You will love both of these performances for sure!
My favorite version of this song is “The Song of Heaven Island” by Zhou Shen (Charlie). Please check it out and maybe react even?
Asdfghjkl YAAAAAASSSSS!!!
Okay, now do the same song and special guest, covered by The Bass Gang, PLEASSSSSSSSE
❤
I usually love Voiceplay arrangements, but in the case I'm sorry, but the Bass Gang version is vastly superior in my opinion.
No way lol.
@@marshayoung9387 Yes way!
15:05 thats actually impressive i didn't expect that lol
