  • Apologies for another late vlog, you'll very quickly be able to tell this video was filmed directly after Episode 10 and before the latest Ormeau trip.
    Basically, this episode we run through some loose bolts and suspension pieces, fix a few things up and start correcting things that aren't quite right from the re-build phase.

    What kind of 4wd does the CRV have?
    Is it like the first volvo/other brands with a Visco, which is almost always broken or will be broken? Trying to find a happy medium.
    Fair fuel economy and descent ride height. And ur vids makes it hard to not look at crv's :P

      It's similar, it's a viscous clutch system built into the input shaft of the rear diff itself, so while the transfer is always engaged and spinning the tailshaft, it requires a certain amount of power to the tailshaft to actually engage the rear diff. I've found in low traction it kicks in around 1800rpm, on road closer to 2400rpm is enough power at the tailshaft for the rear to engage
      There are ways to lock it, like a Freelander viscous coupler replacing the carrier bearing and locking the input shaft by replacing the clutch pack with machine cut plates so it's always locked. This requires a custom tailshaft though
