Watching these videos really makes me wish the rat king covenant mechanic was brought into modern fromsoft games. How much more fun would be had in a procedually built gauntlet? I hope that one day we have an elden ring spin off that fully realizes the potenial of what the colosseums could have been. Give me PVP with environmental traps, pvp with objectives or mixed with PVE. I just want souls PVP taken to it's logical extreme, maybe with more than 2 sided combat, multiple covenant battles, maybe with some PVE modes sprinkled in there.

I think maybe also counter damage, as he was just finishing a slash animation. And arrows are piercing weapons.

It did more damage at 2:16 because of the counter attack damage. Bows do pierce damage and you shot him mid swing, giving you the bonus
